Reliable performance enhances operations with good technical support
We run the entire IRS system, the income system, and the tax system. We also manage the entire Absa banking system in Africa. There's a lot of database applications, similar to those used in banks and the IRS The most valuable features for us are reliability and performance. Our system is used…

It improves our visibility and decision-making while helping us meet compliance standards
The Cloud Platform interface is cleaner than Splunk Enterprise's monitoring console. You can easily understand what's happening with your indexes. It's more refined than Splunk Enterprise's console, but they have the same feel and function. It's easy to monitor multiple cloud environments because you can create custom dashboards for any use case you may have. It offers good visibility because it integrates with the ITSI app, providing a clear overview of your environment. Integrating Splunk with other components on the cloud and network resources is effortless because it can collect data from various sources, including stored data from long-term storage. Splunk's reporting offers a good visualization of your data. You can visualize the statistics based on your searches. It produces some helpful graphs that enable you to easily compare what's happening in your search. It's very comprehensive.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features for us are reliability and performance."
"The deployment of our solution across a number of servers using Ingres .NET has meant that we can protect the database server behind a highly secure firewall and deploy the front end solutions on a normal web server."
"he cloud performance is good."
"It has definitely improved our organization by virtue of reducing the amount of overhead we would have had for those environments. Having to implement, maintain, or even update the existing stuff would have been extremely time-consuming. Splunk Cloud handles all of that for us. So it's definitely been helpful from that perspective. It's allowed them to maintain upgrades for far further than they are. Some of the hosts of that environment were still on version 7 so they could get upgraded feature parity."
"We use Splunk Cloud primarily as a troubleshooting tool, so the most valuable features are the analysis and visualization."
"Splunk Cloud Platform's search modes are a powerful feature."
"The most valuable feature of Splunk Cloud Platform is its robustness and ability to ingest logs."
"In my organization, Splunk Cloud Platform has improved the issue revolving around transactions."
"The most valuable feature of Splunk Cloud Platform is its robustness and ability to ingest logs."
"Dashboards and alerting are the most valuable features. The dashboards let us see how the system looks in terms of anomalies, and the alerts trigger us to go and look at what possible problems are happening."

Cons

"The seamless integration is a bit of an issue."
"The ability to reset the log file without stopping the DBMS would be helpful for us."
"When it comes to the integrations with the other platforms, there is a little bit of a lag in the observability part, making it an area where improvements are required."
"There can be more modules and more integration with other areas in the cloud and on-prem. I am not sure whether it includes network devices and things like that."
"It needs to mature; it's just getting established in the industry on a wider scale."
"Customization could be simplified."
"The support from the Splunk team is generally good, but sometimes, there's a lack of coordination between our account reps and the hands-on technical people. This misalignment can lead to issues with getting what we need done and what is happening."
"In the case of knowledge objects, even a Splunk admin does not have access to delete them. If we want to remove a knowledge object, we need to contact Splunk support and raise a case. After that, they delete it. They should give us access to delete knowledge objects."
"Splunk Cloud Platform needs to be made more user-friendly because it's not user-friendly."
"The on-premises version of Splunk includes all the integrations, while the Cloud platform lacks certain integrations and is limited in terms of the number of supported apps."
