We compared Zerto and Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud across several parameters based on our users' reviews. After reading the collected data, you can find our conclusion below:
Comparison Results: Zerto is praised for its easy setup, continuous data protection, and quick recovery. It is reliable and user-friendly, but could improve in licensing, cloud configuration, and documentation. Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud is also easy to set up and use, with a user-friendly console. It offers incremental backups, strong security, and protection against ransomware. Areas for improvement include server performance, user-friendliness, and pricing. Both products have positive customer support, but Zerto's support has mixed feedback after its acquisition by HP.
"The agent, which is installed on the system, can do Quality of Service."
"What I like best about Acronis Backup Cloud is the active protection feature that helps you protect your workload from ransomware attacks."
"I do not need to touch my firewall, especially when it is managed by the provider and takes ages to do a single NAT."
"We turn on the solution and it works well for backing up our data, it is easy to use."
"The management, backup, and recovery features are all very good."
"The most valuable feature is disaster recovery."
"Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud has very easy backup and recovery capabilities."
"One of the best benefits of using Acronis is that it also provides data security along with the backup of data. It checks everything, and that's the main benefit of using Acronis"
"Live replication and up to the second type of failover are valuable. The fact that we can do test failovers and failbacks is important for our ISO certification."
"The near-synchronous replication is one of the primary reasons we're using Zerto because we have recovery intervals of sub-five seconds. On a scale of 10, where 10 is "very important", this feature is a 10."
"The most valuable for us and for my company is that we are replicating most of our production customers to the DR site, and we can do testing whenever we want."
"The replication works really well. We perform multiple tests a month and annual tests for our tier-one and many of our tier-two apps... Migrating systems as a failover rollback or a system move are two of the functions that I like the most."
"The near-synchronous replication is key. That has allowed us to provide the low RPOs that we promise. For key systems, that has been the deciding factor."
"A new feature is the One-To-Many VPG allowing a VM to be replicated at up to three different locations, including local."
"We've never had any major headaches with the virtual-protection groups. They seem to work exactly as they should. If there's ever an issue with replication, we know right away, so it's all been very reliable."
"Four years ago when we did a PoC between two other vendors and Zerto, there were two features of Zerto that sold it, hands-down. One was the ease of creating protection groups, the ease with which our engineers could create protection, add virtual machines into the Zerto product, and get them under DR protection."
"We'd like to see more integration for Nutanix, Oracle, et cetera."
"It will be good if Acronis can provide more documentation and videos describing how to do different things. Their documentation is good, but it is without examples. They don't have lots of videos. They should put more videos on YouTube to show how to set up certain things, how to restore, and how to back up. They should provide step-by-step documentation and videos for specific scenarios. I would like them to improve the command line feature. The command line is not working smoothly, and there is some problem with it. If the command line is improved, it will take the product to the next level. It would be great if it can back up data from storage so that people are able to back up old data. Such a feature will make it an enterprise solution for a full backup."
"The logs could be better. Logs through the website are just too simple and basic."
"I would like to see more integration with SIEM solutions."
"I would like to have support for agentless backup, where you don't have to install an agent on the host."
"The technical support could be improved. When you create a ticket, the responsiveness you'd expect is lacking."
"I don't see any room for improvement in the solution itself, but their marketing could be better. Dealers and customers aren't aware of this product or the company, so maybe they should concentrate more on marketing."
"Technical support needs improvement. They are too slow to respond, and when it comes to backups, it's critical to deal with issues quickly."
"The technical support response needs improvement."
"The improvement that I would like to see is a little bit easier product knowledge, things like that. It's getting a lot better than it was before because it's not as old of a product as Cisco, but if you look for something like Cisco routing and networking, you'll find millions of articles out there and it's everywhere."
"There are a lot of features that it has that we don't use since we are on prem."
"Zerto is solid. However, they are working on a cloud workload protection and protecting virtual workloads to more than one site."
"We'd like to be able to migrate data without its operating system or any other functionality and without having to go through a virtual machine or server."
"If there is a mass of changes to a server, Zerto will restart the replication. It would be nice to know why that happens."
"One issue we've been having with Zerto lately is the ability to go into maintenance mode during vSphere upgrades. It doesn't have the hook into the lifecycle manager of the bump. During vCenter or ESXi upgrades, it causes VCF to fail its pre-checks because the machine doesn't power off and go into maintenance mode. It's been an issue since version 7.5 and it's impacting a basic automation function in vSphere."
"While going in, we were looking at the backup tool so that we had a DR tool and a backup tool, but they stopped developing their backup solution built into it. That was a bummer for us, so now, we have a DR solution, and we have a backup solution."
