What is our primary use case?
Fusion Framework is used to manage business resilience and continuity-related activities across multiple regions and business functions. The platform maintains business continuity plans, emergency response plans, vendor records, recovery strategy, business impact analysis, operational documentation, and governance process. A centralized repository allows teams to maintain accurate information, improve collaboration, and support organizational preparerdness, while also leveraging the platform to support ongoing program management activities to ensure important resilience-related information remains organized, accessible, and up to date.
I manage a large portfolio of business continuity plans across multiple regions and business functions. Fusion Framework is also used to provide site leaders with information related to office locations, third-party facilities, and warehouses, while maintaining centralized records for those locations.
Fusion Framework centralizes vendor records with specific fields to cross-reference vendor information and the processes they utilize. The platform tracks which processes depend on these vendors, whether they are critical or not, identifies the leads at the company who are responsible for the relationship with each vendor, and maps multiple aspects of the situation, including any related applications and whether they could be critical for the company.
How has it helped my organization?
Fusion Framework has positively impacted my organization by being very helpful, especially in crisis situations. During operational disruptions or technology incidents, the platform makes it easy to identify dependencies, impacted processes, key stakeholders, and recovery priorities. Information related to the affected application becomes immediately accessible, including key users, dependent processes, potential business impacts, affected locations, associated vendors, and other critical dependencies.
In those crisis situations, I have noticed specific outcomes such as faster response times and cost savings due to everything being connected. This allows for a much quicker response as information is shared with the individuals responsible for addressing the issue, thus saving significant amounts of money.
What is most valuable?
One of the best features Fusion Framework offers is that it centralizes all information into one record, whether a site, a plan, a process, a person, a key contact, a third party, a contact, an email, or many other record types maintained within the platform. From that initial point, all information can be cross-referenced, so anything related to that record allows visibility into multiple aspects of the connection.
Having everything centralized and cross-referenced helps me day-to-day by making it easy to maintain records and keep information updated. Each time engagement occurs with any leader, it is easy to get updates on all related records, and historical documentation about the evolution of the company and all changes is maintained.
What needs improvement?
In my experience, the platform meets the vast majority of our resilience management requirements. The only challenge is that larger configuration changes and customizations may require additional planning and resources, but this is understandable given the platform's flexibility and governance capabilities.
