What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
It's not doing really well. That's why we are going away from Diamond IP. From my experience, it's not a very useful or easy-to-use solution. It's older when we compare it to a smart solution like Infoblox.
What is most valuable?
The DNS/DHCP side of the product is quite useful.
What needs improvement?
It's an older product. The GUI and everything is a little outdated.
It's not very easy to use.
The IPAM is the major thing that needs improvement. IPAM and working with the API calls could be better. IP address management is one of the major strengths of any DDI appliance and this solution is lacking in that area.
There needs to be better API integration and discovery capabilities.
The initial setup can be difficult.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using the solution for almost a year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We've never had any issues with stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I haven't yet tried to really scale the solution.
There are thousands of users using the solution in our organization. There could even be hundreds of thousands.
How are customer service and support?
I've never dealt with technical support per se. We simply connect with a few people that are dedicated to us, and they have been very helpful overall.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have worked with Infoblox a lot.
When I joined the organization, they were already using Diamond IP. It's not me who chose Diamond IP.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is a little difficult. I haven't ever built any good environment as-is. However, I have tried to develop some labs for my testing; and found that it was really difficult for me to spin up.
Setting up everything correctly is the one thing. The deployment itself can be done in half an hour. That said, this is not going to be just one appliance, this is going to be a distributed environment, like hundreds of appliances all together work as a single unit, and that's how the solution is provided.
I haven't done any cold deployments. That said, for my testing, I could do it by myself in my lab. Otherwise, to be frank, I don't know how many people would be needed to do a deployment in a well-deployed organization, a running organization. If you have to implement the solution, you're definitely going to be doing it as a shared effort with network security and everyone else.

We handled the implementation process ourselves, in-house.
What was our ROI?
We haven't done any ROI analysis.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I don't deal with the pricing or licensing aspects of the solution.
What other advice do I have?
I'm not completely managing the solution and therefore do not know the exact version number we are on. It is an older version. It is not the latest offering.
If a potential user has scalability, cloud usage, or ease-of-use requirements, they should instead go for Infoblox. Infoblox is the better solution - not Diamond IP.
I'd rate the solution six out of ten.
