Tableau appears to have the upper hand in visual data representation and ease of use, appealing to users looking for interactive visualizations and quick analytics solutions. In contrast, Teradata is stronger in handling complex, large-scale data environments and providing robust data warehousing solutions.
Features: Tableau Enterprise focuses on graphical representation, drag-and-drop analytics, and connectivity with various data sources, enhancing user flexibility. Teradata excels in high performance, scalability, and comprehensive data analytics, making it ideal for large and complex datasets.
Room for Improvement: Tableau should focus on improving data handling capabilities, better large dataset management, and cost-effectiveness for enterprise users. Teradata needs to address challenges with pricing, ease of integration with cloud technology, and support for unstructured data.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Tableau offers flexible deployment for both cloud and on-premises environments with strong community support and responsive customer service, although complex scenarios could see support improvements. Teradata primarily supports on-premises and private cloud setups, appreciated for its robust technical support, but it demands significant deployment and maintenance resources.
Pricing and ROI: Tableau is affordable for smaller to mid-sized businesses, providing quick ROI due to its user-friendly design. However, its pricing for large-scale deployments can be a concern due to extensive user license costs. Teradata offers substantial ROI for large-scale analytics and data warehousing, but its high cost might be prohibitive for smaller businesses.
This saves a significant amount of time, particularly for reports that would have needed around fifty people.
The ROI of using Tableau extends to its seamless integration across various platforms, as it's from Salesforce and thus not limited to any specific cloud provider.
Tableau is saving me time, money, and resources, which I would rate as ten.
At least fifteen to twenty percent of our time has been saved using Teradata, which has positively affected team productivity and business outcomes.

I want to highlight two features for improvement: first, storing data in various formats without requiring a tabular structure, accommodating unstructured data; and second, adding AI ML features to better integrate Gen AI, LLM concepts, and user-friendly experiences such as text-to-SQL capabilities.
Unlike SQL and Oracle, which have in-built replication capabilities, we don't have similar functionality with Teradata.
The most challenging aspect is finding Teradata resources, so we are focusing on internal training and looking for more Teradata experts.
