Gains control over rule customization and achieves reliable vulnerability assessment
The deployment process took me about 2 or 3 hours to deploy SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube), although I do not remember exactly since it was done about 2 years back. Currently, about 10 of my developers are using SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) in my company. I do not have plans to increase the usage of SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) in the future as there will not be any requirement to increase. I am a senior software engineer and supervisor at Mozark Medical. My corporate email address is karthik.k.a.r.t.h.i.k.h.a.r.p.a.n.h.a.l.l.i@mozarkmedical.com. Overall, I would rate SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) as a 9 out of 10.

Xygeni was highly effective for us, but there are areas where improvements could be made. More customization options for dashboards and reports would help teams tailor the platform to their specific metrics and workflows. I also occasionally encounter DevOps tools that are not yet supported natively. Expanded coverage for niche or emerging tools would make onboarding even smoother. These points, however, are minor compared to the overall value the platform delivers, especially given the strength of its AI-driven detection, remediation, and supply chain protection capabilities. It would also be an improvement for licensing with regard to on-premise variants. Perhaps we could have an on-premise option for standard subscription.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Issue Explanations: Documentation with detailed samples. Helps in growing technical knowledge and re-writing logic to conforming solutions."
"I would recommend SonarQube to other users as it is a good solution and the security issues we experienced are being fixed."
"It assists during the development with SonarLint and helps the developer to change his approach or rather improve his coding pattern or style."
"The most valuable features are the wide array of languages, multiple languages per project, the breakdown of bugs, and the description of vulnerabilities and code smells (best practices)."
"The rich graphical representation of numbers which are meaningful to dev leads, managers, and top management."
"The customizable dashboard and ability to include results and coverage from unit test and other static analysis code tools."
"We have worked with the support from SonarQube and we have had good experiences."
"It helps our developers work more efficiently as we can identify things in a code prior to it being pushed to where it needs to go."
"The visibility of our open-source supply chain dependencies and real-time detection of vulnerabilities have been invaluable."
"Since using Xygeni, the time to review vulnerabilities has decreased."
"Xygeni provides a comprehensive and developer-friendly approach to securing the entire software supply chain."
"The best Xygeni feature is the ability to filter what is truly important, which really helps me focus on the key vulnerabilities in the software that I am building."

Cons

"SonarCloud can improve the false positives. Sometimes the gates sometimes act a little weird. We then need to manually go and mark the false positive."
"A little bit more emphasis on security and a bit more security scanning features would be nice."
"I find it is light on the security side."
"I see a problem with SonarQube Server (formerly SonarQube) because the vulnerability assessment is continuous; if I fix some vulnerabilities today, they reappear in the next scan, and there will be completely different issues that need to be fixed."
"The installation of the framework was a bit difficult, it could be improved."
"Fortify is a better security tool; it is better than SonarQube in finding errors, and sometimes SonarQube doesn't find some of the errors that Fortify is able to find."
"SonarQube could be improved with more dynamic testing—basically, now, it's a static code analysis scan."
"The solution could improve by providing more advanced technologies."
"Xygeni can be more automated."
"Xygeni could be improved if on-premise options were available starting from the starter packages, not only the enterprise models."
"There should be more configuration options that make it easier to target the issues that are more important in your organization's context."
"Xygeni was highly effective for us, but there are areas where improvements could be made."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The developer edition is based on cost per lines of code."
"On the pricing side, it's 3,000 Euros for 1 million lines of code."
"This solution is free."
"The price of SonarCloud could be less expensive. We are using the community version and the price should be more reasonable."
"We're using an older version because it is the open-source flavor of it and we can continue using it at no cost. We're not paying any licensing at all, which was another factor in choosing this route so that we can learn and grow with it and not be committed to licenses and other similar things. If we choose to get something else, we have to relearn, but we don't have to relicense. Basically, we're paying no license costs."
"We have a license with 125,000 lines of code. We did not purchase a lot of lines but it is specific to our code environment."
"Get the paid version which allows the customized dashboard and provides technical support."
"It's a bit expensive for us. The currency rate of the dollar is a problem but it may be fine for other countries."
