Has automated recurring data flows and improved accuracy in reporting
The best features of Talend Data Integration are its rich set of components that let you connect to almost any data design intuitive and its strong automation and scheduling capabilities. The TMap component is especially valuable because it allows flexible transformation, joins, and filtering in a single place. I also rely a lot on context variables to manage different environments like Dev, Test, and production, without changing the code. The error handling and logging tools are very helpful for monitoring and troubleshooting, which makes the workflow more reliable. Talend Data Integration has helped our company by automating and standardizing data processes. Before, many of these tasks were done manually, which took more time and often led to errors. With Talend Data Integration, we built automated pipelines that extract, clean, and load data consistently. This not only saves hours of manual effort, but also improves the accuracy and reliability of data. As a result, business teams had faster access to trustworthy information for reporting and decision making, which directly improved efficiency and productivity. Talend Data Integration has had a measurable impact on our organization. By automating daily data loading processes, we reduced manual effort by around three or four hours per day, which saved roughly 60 to 80 hours per month. We also improved data accuracy. Error rates dropped by more than 70% because validation rules were built into the jobs. In addition, reporting teams now receive fresh data at least 50% faster, which means they can make decisions earlier and with more confidence. Overall, Talend Data Integration has increased both efficiency and reliability in our data workflows.

Offloads processes on the server side but needs better installation syntax
One area for improvement is the installation process. Another point could be the syntax, as it sometimes involves using syntax names that are not intuitive. For example, to calculate the difference between two dates, the general syntax in SAS is called the data difference or data net function. However, another name is used, such as NF and INK. Without knowledge of SAS programming, it becomes unclear what these functions mean. It is not good to define function names this way.

User-friendly interface facilitates efficient data migration and reduces operational overhead
Its usability and ease of use are standout features. It is really easy to use - almost too easy at times. Users don't have to be experts to use their tool set and utilize the clicking mechanisms, drop down boxes, and other features to build a package and run it. The configuration is very easy and the system is very stable. I would rate it at a 10 as it is highly reliable; we have never had any problems with it. Very little maintenance is required on my side. While you need to keep the product up to date, the maintenance requirements are minimal. SSIS integrates with all Microsoft tools seamlessly. We have used it against Oracle, DB2 and SQL. It integrates and can move data around from any data platforms, making it very diverse in that standpoint. It is a very robust tool that can work with many data sources, and its main strength is that it is extremely easy to use.

Pros

"The features that I find to be the most valuable are the extensibility, the integration, and the ease of integration with multiple platforms."
"It’s easy to monitor the processes. Every morning I’ll open the Talend Administration Center to check the status of the process. Within seconds I’m able to see which process ran successfully and which have failed and why they failed."
"The tool was mainly used for ETL processes to apply governance rules on data."
"The solution can run on any machine and that is a big advantage."
"What I like about the Talend MDM Platform is that it's a good vendor diagnostic tool."
"The solution enables robust data matching, merging, survivorship, and Data Stewardship that can be a part of data quality workflows or true master data management."
"I think Talend is one of the easiest tools for faster implementation compared to other tools."
"The availability of connectors is great."
"The solution is very stable."

"The most valuable feature of the solution is its amazing capabilities in regard to data handling."
"A key feature allows us to enhance job performance by offloading processing to the server side, rather than processing on the server itself."
"The most valuable features are the relatively short learning curve, and the automation capabilities provided through the BIML add-in for SSDT."
"It is well designed and quite straightforward, with not much of a learning curve involved, and it is a well-documented solution."
"The most valuable features of SSIS are that it works with the query language and it can import data from different sources."
"With this solution, there is the potential to expand so that you can immediately write code onto the SQL server."
"It's a competent product."

Cons

"I would like to sync a project and do an upload from that current version, and then from GitLab, be able to download the latest one."
"When we upgraded to Version 6.4.1, we tried using a GIT repository instead of a SVN repository. After a few incidents where things disappeared and changes were not saved, we decided to go back to a SVN repository."
"NullPointerExceptions are going to be the death of me and are a big reason for our transition away from Talend. One day, it is fine with a 1000 blank rows, then the next day, it will find one blank cell and it breaks down."
"I think the subscription-based model is concerning because as I mentioned, some of our other projects are migrating to different tools."
"I think the memory issues we faced when using the 3GB RAM compared to the 4GB RAM computers caused lot of issues."
"I think they should drive toward AI and machine learning. They could include a machine-learning algorithm for the deduplication."
"If we encounter issues, it’s most likely when using the Talend Open Studio. The studio can be slow, get stuck, or crash. But again, it can be caused by the resources of your machine or your connection with the repository. If we encounter issues with the Studio we restart the Studio. In emergencies, we create and use a new workspace."
"Heap space issues plague us consistently. We maxed it out and it runs fine, then it doesn’t, then it does."
"The transform tool has limited access. They should make it more flexible."
"The transform tool has limited access. They should make it more flexible."
"The initial setup had issues, and even after using it for about one year, it was still not fixed."
"The initial setup of SAS Data Integration Server was complex."
"One area for improvement is the installation process."
"The initial setup had issues, and even after using it for about one year, it was still not fixed."
"So I would like to see improved integration with other software."
"Something that could improve is writing SQL to integration studio because it is not that straightforward. There should be better integration with other software."
"I come from a coding background and this tool is graphically based. Sometimes I think it's cumbersome to do mapping graphically. If there was a way to provide a simple script, it would be helpful and make it easier to use."
"Microsoft should offer an on-premises support warranty for those using that deployment. They seem to be withdrawing from on-premises options."
"There is connectivity with other databases, however, this is the most significant issue that has to be addressed."
"Video training would be a helpful addition, however."
"Sometimes when we want to publish to other types of databases it's not easy to publish to those databases. For example, the Jet Database Engine. Before the SSIS supported Jet Database Engine but nowadays it doesn't support the Jet Database Engine. We connect to many databases such as Access database, SparkPros databases and the other types of databases using Jet Database Engines now and SSIS now doesn't seem to support it in our databases."
"It is an easy solution but needs some improvement. The creation of the measure in the DAC's model could be improved."
"There were some issues when we tried to connect it to data storage. It was a connection issue."
"Improving the login procedure would make our reporting easier on monitoring our ETL processes."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is on a per-user basis. It's a little more expensive than other tools. There aren't any additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"The tool is cheap."
"The solution's pricing is very reasonable and half the cost of Informatica."
"The licensing cost for the Talend MDM Platform is paid yearly, but I'm unable to give you the figure. I would rate its price as four out of five because it's on the cheaper side. I'm not aware of any extra costs in addition to the standard licensing fees for the Talend MDM Platform."
"Moreover, the pricing structure stands out as highly competitive compared to other offerings in the market, making it a cost-effective choice for users."
"I have been using the open-source version."
"The pricing is a little higher than what I had expected, but it's comparable with I-PASS competitors."
"The price of the Talend Data Management Platform is reasonable. The other competing solutions are priced high. Gartner Magic Quadrant identified other solutions, such as Informatica, that are far more expensive."
"It is an expensive program."
"Depending on the arrangement that a certain company has with Microsoft, it may supply the permanent license that is included in the SQL server license, or it may be a time-bound license if it is a partner license or other enterprise license."
"The solution comes free of cost."
"Based on my experience and understanding, Talend comes out to be a little bit expensive as compared to SSIS. The average cost of having Talend with Talend Management Console is around 72K per region, which is much higher than SSIS. SSIS works very well with Microsoft technologies, and if you have Microsoft technologies, it is not really expensive to have SSIS. If you have SQL Server, SSIS is free."
"It comes bundled with other solutions, which makes it difficult to get the price on the specific product."
"The solution is economical. You don't have to worry about the pricing as long as you're installing both services on the same server."
"This solution is a free of charge addition to our SQL licence. However, the only way this tool can be utilized is as a feature of the SQL licence, which may make it unattractive to organizations who don't wish to purchase the wider-ranging licence."
"I'm not involved in licensing details, but SSIS provides value to our organization by simplifying data management tasks."
"SSIS is fairly well-priced - I would rate it at four out of five."
