Has reduced troubleshooting time and improved issue detection through sensor alerts and team collaboration
PRTG Network Monitor can be improved because the dashboard themes feel outdated. It should be updated to a newer version for the new Gen Z customers. The notification sound options are limited unless customized. Restarting probes after Windows updates is necessary, and there should be some kind of automatic restart. The initial auto-discovery added too many unnecessary sensors, so auto-discovery should only take the necessary sensors into consideration.

A highly scalable and stable solution that provides excellent features and can be integrated with any product
The support team is more into R&D. They're not focused on support. The vendor lets the partners provide support for the solution. Partners must have StableNet-certified engineers. Complex problems arise for complex installations. When a problem is deep, it takes a lot of time to resolve it. It goes to the R&D and development teams. They do solve it, but the time taken could be reduced.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Accessibility, ease of use (Web GUI, MobileApps). In general, compared with other software"
"To perform your analyses with this solution is easier."
"The alerting is the most valuable feature. I also like the iPhone app. I get alerts in an email on the iPhone app."
"Overall, this is a very good platform and provides value to the organization."
"The most valuable features of PRTG Network Monitor are user-friendly, and the graphical interface is good for all the network devices that are mapped in this organization. It's very easy to find reports for any devices that we are looking for."
"We have asked questions of their technical support and they have a very good response time."
"The feature set is very strong compared to other products that I have used; it's great because it does everything that we need it to do, it's easy to use, and it looks great when you present it in an open office environment."
"You will not find anything cheaper that really does the job."
"We can integrate any tool with StableNet."
"The solution is stable."
"The best features are the reporting, utilization, and network graph."

Cons

"Although they are fairly comprehensive with what you can do with them, the mapping and dashboards are a bit clunky to set up."
"Their penetration within the market could be much better. If their pricing was lower, even though it's reasonable now, it might help them achieve this."
"PRTG Network Monitor can improve by having better integration with devices."
"The user interface could be more modern as it is quite dated. PRTG Network Monitor can sometimes be too detailed and cluttered at the beginning, making it heavy to use."
"The technical support services could be better."
"The clustering aspect needs improvement, as there is a bit of confusion about you do when hit that 5000 probe mark."
"They need to address the slowness issue that sometimes occurs with PRTG Network Monitor."
"PRTG Network Monitor is okay to use, but you'll need some time to analyze the data. If it can automatically locate or identify the problem area, it would be more helpful to users."
"The dashboard has a lot of room for improvement."
"The existing dashboard capability is there, but it is not user-friendly."
"The solution is expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of PRTG is reasonable. PRTG's competitors like SolarWinds and ManageEngine charge more for the same functionality."
"The pricing for PRTG in our case is reasonable because we have a lot of applications to monitor within PRTG. It is not that expensive."
"It's an annual license that is based on the number of endpoints that we're tracking and using."
"PRTG Network Monitor's price is a little high."
"We have an unlimited perpetual license, so we just pay support costs and it can scale throughout the organization."
"If you're looking for a cost effective software I’d suggest this product."
"PRTG Network Monitor is very expensive."
"Because we are only on the free version, we have a limited number of sensors. Therefore, we are not monitoring as much as we want to be to obtain historical information."
