There was only one feature I liked about PRTG Network Monitor a lot, and that was bandwidth monitoring, though, in the newer versions of the tool, that feature is now a bit lacking.

Pricing for PRTG Network Monitor is also not as expensive.

It's a good tool, even for beginners.

I think net flow is PRTG's most valuable feature because it doesn't cost much for us because the net flow sensor is already included in the PRTG license. We can monitor our traffic in our proxy and router.

We can see trends for a lot of different things, such as hard drive space and bandwidth usage. We can see and plan for the future by knowing, "We're sort of at 75% capacity now. In three months time, we know we're going to be up to 90%,so we need to plan ahead for it, getting upgrades booked in place." Since things like this take time and effort, it's handy to see trends into the future of where our company is going.

The sensors and remote probes are phenomenal. We use them for all of our global sites. The problem with our global sites are that they are all VPNs. If the link goes down, you can't monitor other solutions, as it just goes off the grid. Having remote probes allows them to still carry on and get the information that we need when it comes back up, sending the information to us.

Hi  Currently we handle around 4000 devices on-prem UIM and we´re thinking about increasing the amount of discovered servers by installing a secondary SaaS hub to cover the different cloud installed servers over the internet. Has anybody done this? How complex is it? Do you recommend another solution that can integrate with UIM?

Hi We do around 35000 devices using Saas but not with CA UIM. We have our own developed software called Sintelligent.” https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQCMXdWyI4daPZSHqK8XVC-PZR05MDWCj “ The trick is to make sure that your throughput can be handled by the hardware your solution runs on and also provides a scalability factor for growth.
18 July 17
Hi, Installing a secondary hub is quite straight forward and easy, depending on the network monitoring supplier you are using, Most deployments have at least one additional hub. For load balancing, enterprise deployments can have several to hundreds. Secondary hubs are typically dedicated servers. They are used: * To provide failover capability if the primary hub is unavailable. * In enterprise deployments, to host services and management consoles, such as Unified Management Portal (UMP) and the Alarm Server (nas). * For data collection and dispersion. In an enterprise deployment, tunnels and queues connect secondary hubs to form a hierarchy that securely transports monitoring data to the primary hub. Contact your provider and ask them if they can create a secondary or subnet server. Feel free to message me if you need any further help.. Regards Aysha
