Provides great data on business growth as well as analytics for future business planning
The solution is particularly useful in terms of future business planning. It also helps with current data on business growth. As a cloud solution, this is one of the best. It has the IT Analytics and integrates well with big data analytics in ADW and Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse. There are some fantastic features. The solution also has the OBIEE component. I think it's a game changer.

Built-in searches and unified data access streamline alert investigation and boosts analyst efficiency
The two features I appreciate the most in Splunk Enterprise Security are the built-in searches, which have been very easy for us to get started with right out of the box, and the fact that it accesses all of our other systems. You can access it as a pane of glass rather than having to search individually. We also have the option to compare our analysts from our service to service. Splunk Enterprise Security helps our SOC team prioritize and investigate high-fidelity alerts more effectively by providing a more in-depth look and the ability to access a lot more of our data. Instead of jumping from several segmented systems, it allows us to have everything brought together in one place. For example, you have to move from our purview to our build system and to Splunk Enterprise Security, and it enables us to streamline that process. The built-in features of Splunk Enterprise Security, which we recently procured, have given us a good starting point and demonstrated the value of the product, providing an easy way to sell it to our company. The ease of getting everything into our purview helps us, and it serves as a good start for the investigation part in one location rather than what we usually have, which is jumping from system to system to system. Splunk Enterprise Security plays a role in our company's strategy to combat insider threats and advanced persistent threats by currently being in its technical test phase. We are still rolling it out, and it should help us find any insider threats based on information that our policy states should not be present in our system. Splunk Enterprise Security's risk-based alerting (RBA) has impacted our alert volume and analyst productivity because we've got many different systems feeding into it. However, it has helped to make it easier for our analysts to go through a set of events rather than 100 alerts. RBA allows us to streamline the process and customize it for our analysts. When it comes to leveraging Splunk Enterprise Security's dashboards and visualizations to communicate security posture to executives, it's pretty straightforward for any type of information. The visualization is easy to understand, but I haven't had any direct conversations with our executives.

Pros

"Particularly useful in terms of future business planning."
"It allows us to digest the information, the data, the different data streams, so we can make decisions based upon information that we receive, and it is pretty robust."
"The ability to ingest any data and display it in a way that anyone can understand."
"The most valuable feature of Splunk Enterprise Security is the comprehensive logging capabilities it provides."
"I appreciate the integrations with the SOAR architectures and the expandability that can be used throughout the entire ecosystem of Splunk Enterprise Security."
"The most valuable feature of Splunk Enterprise Security is website activity monitoring."
"Correlation search, in general, is valuable because it allows us to search multiple data sources easily."
"It allows the centralization of data and makes possible new sorts of correlations that were previously impossible using traditional SIEMs such as ArcSight or QRadar."
"I like the search feature and the indexing. It's very fast and comprehensive."

Cons

"Could include more graphical dashboards and EVP access with other app solutions to build reporting dashboards."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is not exactly user-friendly."
"There were only one or two issues related to the user account, but nothing major."
"Splunk should have more regional data centers in the Middle East."
"Splunk needs to be able to hold more days of data. At the moment it only holds three months of data."
"While there aren't any major areas where the solution has to be improved, there are certain integrations that are still not available. I would specifically like to see legacy applications integrated."
"The GUI can be improved. Splunk has always suffered from having a kind of goofy UI, it needs some updating."
"The UI can be improved. Dashboards and reports can be better in terms of graphics."
"My company could benefit from doing more Splunk training with Splunk consultants teaching us how to use it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It is a pretty high cost solution, but if your organization has the funds, it can bring many benefits."
"The cost is on the high end, which makes it difficult for some organizations to use."
"I would highly recommend anyone evaluating this option to download the free trial which allows for the ingestion of 500MB of data per day in order to get a feel for what Splunk does at its core. It will get pricey once your ingestion rates start to sky rocket, but I would consider it expensive given the amount of information that it allows you to analyze and react on straight out-of-the-box."
"It's a little bit expensive for a small to medium enterprise."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is cheaper than competitors, but I do not know whether it is just our contract."
"Splunk's costing is a little more difficult. The pricing method is complicated, and the way that costing is calculated in Splunk is a little more difficult."
"I believe there is room for improvement in reducing costs, particularly in the financial aspect, as Splunk tends to be pricier compared to other options."
"My customers have found the price of the solution to be high."
