Automation becomes feasible with diverse application support and faster development
I have used UFT for web application automation, desktop application automation, and Oracle ERP automation UFT provides object identification, which is one of the easiest to use. It requires less coding, has built-in features for API testing, and most importantly, it supports more than just web…

Simple to set up and the test execute feature is helpful, but the cost could be reduced
Our primary use case is Point of Sale (POS) testing The most valuable features are test executor and development. TestLeft captures a lot of space in terms of memory, which is one issue that can be improved. We have been using SmartBear TestLeft for the past month. Stability-wise, TestLeft is…

Has transformed testing by reducing scripting effort and enhancing productivity with advanced features
The self-healing feature of Tricentis Tosca needs significant improvement. Currently, it is static and not dynamic. For example, if a button in an application changes, Tricentis Tosca should be smart enough to detect the change and still execute the script seamlessly. Improvements are needed to ensure it responds dynamically to changes in the application.

"Automation of tests is done very fast with UFT One."
"UFT provides object identification, which is one of the easiest to use."
"It is easy to automate and new personnel can start learning automation using UFT One. You don't have to learn any scripting."
"The entire framework is very useful. It's easily integrable with Excel."
"The shared repositories can be used throughout all testing which makes jobs easier."
"The most valuable features are test executor and development."
"Tricentis Tosca is a codeless tool, making it easy for everyone to understand the transition of how to develop scenarios or test cases."
"Makes optimal use of Model-based Test practice in getting Object-references from the application."
"Compared to other tools we have been looking at, you don't have to be a programmer to operate it, though it helps. It also a product that can be used by business people."
"The product enables codeless automation."
"The initial setup was straightforward."
"The most valuable feature of Tricentis Tosca is it is a completely scriptless automation tool, which I liked a lot. They keep on continuously improving their tools, wherever we are facing any challenges they are able to provide a solution for it. It is easy to learn, everyone can easily read and understand what is happening with the scripts. Any business user or function tester can use the tool efficiently. This is a complete solution package."
"This tool has test data management capability along with test management."
"The solution can be deployed in DevOps and ERP environments like Oracle Fusion. It accelerates testing with the libraries. The product incorporates libraries and is more sensitive to the scans."

Cons

"The scripting language could be improved. They're currently using Visual Basic, but I think that people need something more advanced, like Python or Java."
"The product should evolve to be flexible so one can use any programming language such as Java and C#, and not just VB script."
"Micro Focus UFT One could benefit from creating modules that are more accessible to non-technical users. Without a developer background or at least basic knowledge of VBScript, using Micro Focus UFT One may not be feasible for everyone. This is something that Micro Focus, now owned by OpenText, should consider in order to cater to business professionals as well. While Micro Focus UFT One does have a recording function, it still requires a certain level of IT proficiency to create effective automation, which may be challenging for those outside of the technical field."
"The AI feature needs improvement. For banking applications, we input formatted text from documents, but the AI feature is recognizing three fields as one field, e.g., for a phone number, it puts all 10 digits in the international code or country code. Then, the script fails."
"There could be improvements in report export features similar to SmartBear."
"The artificial intelligence functionality is applicable only on the web, and it should be expanded to cover non-web applications as well."
"They need to reduce the cost because it is pretty high. It's approximately $3,000 per user."
"Object identification has room for improvement, to make it more efficient."
"TestLeft captures a lot of space in terms of memory, which is one issue that can be improved."
"The solution should work with the Linux platform. Right now, it only runs on Windows."
"The self-healing feature of Tricentis Tosca needs significant improvement. Currently, it is static and not dynamic."
"It can be quite expensive."
"Many times when we have raised a ticket, we did not get an urgent response."
"I would say the reporting part of the tool is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"What needs to be improved in Tricentis Tosca is its centralized repository mechanism because it's not as flexible. The repository in the solution where you store the data and the script for test automation is quite an old-fashioned mechanism that could be improved."
"It is quite difficult to integrate the solution with other tools."
"Their license management should be improved. One of our customers is a global customer. They want to use one licensed server and then split the licenses based on the different users of the different business units, but currently, there is only one license server that everybody can access. There is no control, and that's why sometimes congestion can happen."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The way the pricing model works is that you pay a whole boatload year one. Then, every year after, it is around half or less. Because instead of paying for the new product, you are just paying for the support and maintenance of it. That is probably one of the biggest things that I hear from most people, even at conferences, "Yeah, I would love to use UFT One, but we don't have a budget for it.""
"The pricing fee is good. If someone makes use of the solution once a day for a half hour then the fee will be more expensive. For continuous use and application of the solution to different use cases, the fee is average."
"The licensing cost is high. There are no additional costs to the standard license."
"The price is one aspect that could be improved."
"The tool's price is high."
"HPE recently extended the demo license period from 30 days to 60 days which was a very wise and popular decision to give potential customers more time to install it and try it for free. Even if your company has a salesperson come in and demo UFT, I would highly encourage at least one of your developers or automation engineers to download and install it to explore for themselves the functionality and features included during the demo trial period."
"The licensing and pricing model is confusing."
"The pricing of the product is an issue."
"The cost should be reduced."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. It is on the higher side."
"There is an annual cost for Tricentis."
"We hired a consultant to figure out all the tools in our company and how they fit in our company before we purchased the solution."
"I would like to see better costing packs. There are several features but USD $11,000 for one license is expensive."
"The price of the tool is a problem for a lot of Brazilian clients or Latino clients, as it is expensive. Where I work, if one is low price and ten is high price, I rate the tool's price as a ten out of ten."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"My understanding is that it's an expensive product, although I don't know the specifics with regards to pricing."
"In terms of the licensing costs for Tricentis Tosca, we are spending more or less $70,000 per year. We have a very complex mechanism because there are some business users and some BI users, so the licensing structure is not simple, but support is included."
