"The most valuable feature of OmniPeek was the ability it gave us to see the connection procedure.""I believe the most crucial feature of OmniPeek search is the ability to sniff packets based on channel switching.""The most valuable feature of OmniPeek is the ability to assign custom color codes to the different packets easily.""It's a solid piece of software. It's stable.""The most valuable feature is OmniPeek is user-friendly.""The most valuable features are the voice bot, which checks the quality of service for voice, and the expert view that gives me insight on what and where to troubleshoot."

More OmniPeek Pros →

"One of its valuable features is the fact that it handles multiple operating systems... And I like the fact that it tells me when things are about to fall over, which means I can preempt it and not have to wake up at three in the morning to fix it.""The most valuable feature of PRTG Network Monitor is real-time monitoring.""The feature whereby it shows when my hard drives are moving towards thresholds that would be considered outages, before they reach that point - that is valuable.""The solution provides us with needed feedback on our IT infrastructure. It gives us really good quality of service when it comes to monitoring of available space and available resources. It allows us to preempt issues before they become a problem for the business.""I think net flow is PRTG's most valuable feature because it doesn't cost much for us because the net flow sensor is already included in the PRTG license. We can monitor our traffic in our proxy and router.""It is a central solution in terms of how to actually use it. It has a very easy dashboard. Everything is concise. We are able to create custom sensors. For different parts of the business, we have many products across many environments, and it works for everything.""The most valuable features of PRTG Network Monitor are user-friendly, and the graphical interface is good for all the network devices that are mapped in this organization. Cons

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"I don't see a clear roadmap in the future for improving this software.""The solution's automation has room for improvement.""I am not using OmniPeek for automation, we only do manual testing. Automation testing is tedious to do. The automation should be more user-friendly. I have exposed some APIs but the usage is not user-friendly.""Making it more clear on how to configure the filters, or really automating them, would be an improvement.""I would like to see the saving feature improved. We have had issues if you do not save your progress then you have to start from the beginning.""I would like to see the tool work in an open environment the same as how it does in a closed environment."

More OmniPeek Cons →

"PRTG Network Monitor can improve Layer 2 and Layer 3 network maps and the GUI more user-friendly. Additionally, they should bundle the features so I can monitor everything on one particular device.""More training videos for installing and configuring this software would have been nice, especially when working with a lot of devices.""I would like to see a more robust platform and a new dashboard. In addition, the code is good, but it needs improvement.""In our organization, we encounter performance issues with our PRTG probe service. I saw documentation from the vendor or Paessler mentioning that there are limitations for WMI sensors. Other than that, we are okay with PRTG.""PRTG Network Monitor could improve by having a feature to allow uploading of preset standard network switch configurations and the ability to monitor the SLA configuration, such as uptime for the switches or internet connectivity. This would be very useful.""Their penetration within the market could be much better. If their pricing was lower, even though it's reasonable now, it might help them achieve this.""Maybe in the future there will be room for improvement, but currently, there is nothing pressing that I can think of""I would like to see them take their graphing tools and convert them into a collector so that we can point telemetry to them"

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
