We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The log analysis is excellent; it can predict what can or will happen regarding use patterns and vulnerabilities.""We didn't have anything similar. So, it really provides value from the incidents and automation point of view. The overview of the security fabric is most valuable.""Sentinel is a SIEM and SOAR tool, so its automation is the best feature; we can reduce human interaction, freeing up our human resources.""The automation feature is valuable.""Sentinel also enables you to ingest data from your entire ecosystem and not just from the Microsoft ecosystem. It can receive data from third-party vendors' products such firewalls, network devices, and antivirus solutions. It's not only a Microsoft solution, it's for everything.""I like the ability to run custom KQL queries. I don't know if that feature is specific to Sentinel. As far as I know, they are using technology built into Azure's Log Analytics app. Sentinel integrates with that, and we use this functionality heavily.""The part that was very unexpected was Sentinel's ability to integrate with Azure Lighthouse, which, as a managed services solution provider, gives us the ability to also manage our customers' Sentinel environments or Sentinel workspaces. It is a big plus for us. With its integration with Lighthouse, we get the ability to monitor multiple workspaces from one portal. A lot of the Microsoft Sentinel workbooks already integrate with that capability, and we save countless amounts of money by simply being able to almost immediately realize multitenant capabilities. That alone is a big plus for us.""It is always correlating to IOCs for normal attacks, using Azure-related resources. For example, if any illegitimate IP starts unusual activity on our Azure firewall, then it automatically generates an alarm for us."

"The FIM features in the Change Tracker and the Log Tracker are the most valuable.""The most valuable feature is the predefined reports for PCI compliance.""File integrity monitoring is a very important function.""This is a very easy-to-use interface with a quick ramp-up time."

More NNT Log Tracker Enterprise Pros →

"The most valuable feature of this solution is the reporting.""The most valuable feature is the management features. It's capable of managing large enterprises.""The configuration part is very easy...The technical support was sincere in their responses...I rate the technical support a nine out of ten."

Cons
"There is room for improvement in entity behavior and the integration site.""If their UI was a bit more streamlined and easy to find when I need it, then that would be a great improvement.""It would be good to have some connectors for third-party SIEM solutions. Many customers are struggling with the integration of Azure Sentinel with their on-premise SIEM. Microsoft is changing the log structure many times a year, which can corrupt a custom integration. It would be good to have some connectors developed by Microsoft or supply vendors, but they are not providing such functionality or tools.""Not all information shows up in Sentinel. Sometimes there are items provided in 365 and if you looked in Sentinel you would not see them and therefore think they do not exist. There can be discrepancies between Microsoft tools.""The product can be improved by reducing the cost to use AI machine learning.""If Azure Sentinel had the ability to ingest Azure services from different tenants into another tenant that was hosting Azure Sentinel, and not lose any metadata, that would be a huge benefit to a lot of companies.""They should integrate it with many other software-as-a-service providers and make connectors available so that you don't have to do any sort of log normalization.""The solution could improve the playbooks."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"I would like to see the integration of AI technology, so rather than manually monitoring the logs, the tool will understand it and take care of it.""The correlation suite needs to be improved.""It is able to identify the vulnerability, however, they need an option to auto-mitigate.""Only one minor deployment issue came up and it was resolved quickly. No other areas of improvement come to mind yet."

More NNT Log Tracker Enterprise Cons →

"RSA enVision log manager is out of date and is not in use anymore.""In general, the solution currently isn't user-friendly.""The integration could be easier, it should support more products."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."
  • More Microsoft Sentinel Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Consider both their on-premises solution and their hosted solution. Both are reasonably priced."
  • "We have selected a perpetual license along with support."
  • "NNT's pricing is moderate - I would rate their pricing two-and-a-half out of ten."
  • More NNT Log Tracker Enterprise Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We no longer pay a licensing fee because it is out of date and don't pay for support."
  • "On a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high price, I rate the pricing a six."
