We performed a comparison between NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP and Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Commvault, Zerto and others in Cloud Backup."The good thing about NetApp is the features that are available on the cloud are also available on-premises."
"The solution’s unified file and block-storage access across our infrastructure is invaluable. Without it, we can't do what we do."
"This solution has made everything easier to do."
"We are definitely in the process of reducing our footprint on our secondary data center and all those snapshots technically reduce tape backup. That's from the protection perspective, but as far as files, it's much easier to use and manage and it's faster, too."
"The fast recovery time objective with the ability to bring the environment back to production in case something happens."
"The most valuable features are tiering to S3 and being able to turn it on and off, based on a schedule."
"It offers ease of use and a comprehensive suite of applications, including features like SnapMirror, SnapVault, and unified snapshot management, all bundled into a single product."
"We're using snapshots as well and it's a pretty useful feature. That is one of the main NetApp benefits. Knowing how to use snapshots in the on-prem environment, using snapshots on the cloud solution was natural for us."
"The most valuable features are the flexibility and stability of the product."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows are the backups, ease of use, and report manager."
"Veeam helps to create a stable environment with virtual servers."
"We found the initial setup to be quite simple."
"The initial setup, if it is error-free, is very simple."
"The most valuable features are backup and restore. This solution is also easy to use."
"I love Veeam because it is very easy to work with."
"The solution is useful for taking backups for end-user laptops and end-user workstations where data is involved."
"When it comes to a critical or a read-write-intensive application, it doesn't provide the performance that some applications require, especially for SAP. The SAP HANA database has a write-latency of less than 2 milliseconds and the CVO solution does not fit there. It could be used for other databases, where the requirements are not so demanding, especially when it comes to write-latency."
"Their support and development teams can collaborate better to resolve an issue."
"I would like to see more information about Cloud Volumes ONTAP using Google Cloud Platform on NetApp's website."
"I would like this solution to be brought to all the three major players. Right now it's supported only on AWS and Azure. They should bring it to Google as well, because we would like to have flexibility in choosing the underlying cloud storage provider."
"When Azure does their maintenance, they do maintenance on one node at a time. With the two nodes of the CVO, it can automatically fail over from one node to the node that is staying up. And when the first node comes back online, it will fail back to the first node. We have had issues with everything failing back 100 percent correctly."
"The support is good in general but the initial, front-line support could be improved. Because I have already been using the product for so long, when I call support I would rather talk to somebody who is a little bit more advanced or senior, rather than talking to the first-level support. Usually, it takes some time to reach out to their senior support."
"Scale-up and scale-out could be improved. It would be interesting to have multiple HA pairs on one cluster, for example, or to increase the single instances more, from a performance perspective. It would be good to get more performance out of a single HA pair."
"The cost needs improvement."
"The solution lacks instant recovery."
"I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers."
"The solution could use some updates to minor details omitted from current reporting."
"The solution's compression ratio and high speed for backing up can always improve. Aspects that need improvement are less time, better quality, higher security, and more compression. These are continuous requirements for any customer."
"I would like to have a more automated installation process."
"I am not very impressed by the technical support I received when I had an issue."
"An area that this solution could be improved would be with the licensing."
"I've found a lot of difficulties on the initial setup and especially in terms of credentials. We really need a Window OS. It doesn't like the domain admin account. it's a primary permission issue."
