We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is quite efficient. It helps our clients in identifying their security issues and respond quickly. Our clients want to automate incident response and all those things.""It's pretty powerful and its performance is pretty good.""It is able to connect to an ever-growing number of platforms and systems within the Microsoft ecosystem, such as Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365 or Office 365, as well as to external services and systems that can be brought in and managed. We can manage on-premises infrastructure. We can manage not just the things that are running in Azure in the public cloud, but through Azure Arc and the hybrid capabilities, we can monitor on-premises servers and endpoints. We can monitor VMware infrastructure, for instance, running as part of a hybrid environment.""The solution offers a lot of data on events. It helps us create specific detection strategies.""The best feature is that onboarding to the SIM solution is quite easy. If you are using cloud-based solutions, it's just a few clicks to migrate it.""The solution has features that helped improve the security posture of our clients. It provides the ability to correlate a large variety of log sources very cost-effectively, especially for Microsoft sources.""Sentinel is a Microsoft product, so they provide very robust use cases and analytic groups, which are very beneficial for the security team. I also like the ability to integrate data sources into the software for on-premise and cloud-based solutions.""Sentinel's most important feature is the ability to centralize all the logs in one place. There's no need to search multiple systems for information."

"The initial setup is straightforward""The user interface is very good.""I have made use of technical support and am certainly very satisfied with them.""It is stable.""The log management has helped to improve my organization.""The most valuable features of ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer are the number of capabilities, file integration monitoring, web server log collection, and alert configuration.""It's one of the easiest products. It's very simple to use.""What I found most useful in ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is its integration with other ManageEngine applications. It seamlessly integrates throughout the ManageEngine suite, and that's beneficial. I also like that the solution has chain management capabilities, it has a modular approach, and it's easy to reach the support team."

"Snare has good agents, especially for Windows.""The most valuable feature of Snare is flexibility or the ability to filter all things you don't want and don't have security value.""The best thing about Snare is its format and consistency."

Cons
"We're satisfied with the comprehensiveness of the security protection. That said, we do have issues sometimes where there have been global outages and we need to raise a ticket with Microsoft.""The solution should allow for a streamlined CI/CD procedure.""Sentinel can be used in two ways. With other tools like QRadar, I don't need to run queries. Using Sentinel requires users to learn KQL to run technical queries and check things. If they don't know KQL, they can't fully utilize the solution.""We do have in-built or out-of-the-box metrics that are shown on the dashboard, but it doesn't give the kind of metrics that we need from our environment whereby we need to check the meantime to detect and meantime to resolve an incident. I have to do it manually. I have to pull all the logs or all the alerts that are fed into Sentinel over a certain period. We do this on a monthly basis, so I go into Microsoft Sentinel and pull all the alerts or incidents we closed over a period of thirty days.""If I see an alert and I want to drill down and get more details about the alert, it's not just one click. In other SIEM tools, you just have to click the IP address of the entity and they give you the complete picture. In Sentinel, you have to write queries or use saved queries to get details.""They should integrate it with many other software-as-a-service providers and make connectors available so that you don't have to do any sort of log normalization.""If Sentinel had a graphical user interface, it would be easier to use. I would also like it to be more customizable.""They could use some kind of workbook. There is some limitation doing the editing and creating the workbook."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"It may not be as easy to use as Splunk.""Support could improve to make the solution better.""The scalability is limited.""I would like to see more detailed reports.""There isn't good security integration when it comes to cybersecurity. The correlation of logs isn't so simple.""The solution is stable. However, there are limits. For example, we can do 2,500 Syslog events per second, but if we want to do more we have to install the distributor structure, and then we can expand how many events we can do. They could improve the stability.""The customization of reports could be a lot easier. It is not difficult but it could be made easier.""The first tier of customer service and support is not great."

More ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer Cons →

"Users will initially find it difficult to identify the event types and installation in Snare.""The solution is now developing a SIEM-like feature on Snare Central Server, but it's not complete yet.""Snare should modernize its GUI a little bit."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "There is a license required for these solutions. The customer can choose the license type, such as an annual license purchase or a perpetual license. If the customer wants maintenance they will have to pay annually."
  • "There is a yearly subscription for the solution."
  • "ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is a low-cost solution. It costs approximately $1,000 per month per server for a perpetual license."
  • "Licensing for ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is paid yearly."
  • "We paid for the license of the solution and the deployment. The price of ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is less expensive than other solutions."

Your organizations IT infrastructure generate huge amount of logs every day and these machine generated logs have vital information that can provide powerful insights and network security intelligence into user behaviors, network anomalies, system downtime, policy violations, internal threats, regulatory compliance, etc. However, the task of analyzing these event logs and syslogs without automated log analyzer tools can be both time-consuming and painful if done manually.

EventLog Analyzer provides the most cost-effective Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) software on the market. Using this Log Analyzer software, organizations can automate the entire process of managing terabytes of machine generated logs by collecting, analyzing, correlating, searching, reporting, and archiving from one central location. This event log analyzer software helps to monitor file integrity, conduct log forensics analysis, monitor privileged users and comply to different compliance regulatory bodies by intelligently analyzing your logs and instantly generating a variety of reports like user activity reports, historical trend reports, and more.

Snare customers consistently tell us that as the financial and reputational consequences of data breaches, cyber threats like malware and ransomware and the constant risks from insider threats increase that they have urgent and ongoing requirements for maintaining regulatory compliance, auditing and managing cyber threat detection and response. They also tell us that existing solutions like SIEM are often complex to implement and maintain, require specialised technical resources or are increasingly unaffordable or variable in their pricing. As a result of these increased requirements Prophecy International has created the Snare product suite.

Compliance requirements can include any number of regulatory mandates including PCI-DSS, Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA, NERC, GDPR and more. This makes Snare a high value solution for companies in the Government, Defence and Military sectors, Banking, Finance and Insurance, Retail, Health, Energy, Oil & Gas markets.

Snare is a complete suite of Centralised Log Management (CLM), Security Analytics and SIEM tools.
