Good for digital marketing purposes, such as creating and managing email campaigns
Mailchimp could be more user-friendly for setting up WordPress websites. Some of the complex settings can be time-consuming to configure. So, setting up Mailchimp for WordPress websites can be time-consuming for an average user but not necessarily difficult. It's time-consuming, especially when adding custom code to email campaigns. It requires some experience and knowledge to do it effectively.

Reliable, easy to set up, and offers good email-sending capabilities
We use the solution for high-volume email sending for event management. Simple and perfect for what we need.  It has helped us with email deliverability. The email-sending capabilities are great. It's a very easy product to set up.  The solution is stable. It is scalable.  The solution needs…

Dynamic templates have streamlined student and parent email campaigns and build consistent engagement
The activity log is a little slower at times, but that is probably just nitpicking an issue. Overall, in general, there are not really very difficult pain points. There are certain issues sometimes when we are trying to handle a very big campaign; we might end up having a little bit less reputation in terms of bounces or spam reports that get detected when we send out the emails. Apart from that, there is not anything that would become a significant pain point. If you don't really have an advanced subscription for SendGrid, it might take a while for you to reach the customer support.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I can have a really good looking newsletter with minimum effort."
"We managed to easily build and send modern, nice looking, relevant newsletters to hundreds of followers, analyze our projects and think of new and better ways to do it, because of the diversity that comes with it."
"Now, with Mailchimp it is so much easier to send mailings to our members."
"I use Mailchimp for digital marketing purposes, such as creating and managing email campaigns, collecting data, and integrating with WordPress websites."
"I only use the free version of MailChimp and I find it to be perfect for my needs."
"MailChimp almost doubled our email marketing delivery and open rates."
"Seeing the click rates, i.e., what people are clicking on to gauge what the subscribers to our emails are interested in is the most valuable feature."
"The email scheduling has been quite useful."
"I haven't been required to pay yet because they give me 10k free emails per month, so for medium emails, it's the best choice."
"Mailgun is cheap, secure, fast, and simple."
"It's a very easy product to set up."
"SendGrid has positively impacted my organization by solving the notification problem."
"Since switching to SendGrid, I have seen that time is saved, and the trust of the portals like Gmail and Outlook ensures the emails are received quickly with minimum failure, which increases the business."
"White-listed mail which avoids spam on mail services like Gmail and Yahoo."
"The solution scales well."
"The most valuable feature is the conditions in automation."
"In my experience, the best features SendGrid offers include the dashboard, which is very nice to review if emails were delivered or if something was wrong."
"They enable us to automate all the communication with our clients around commercial campaigns, marketing activities, and also during transactional tasks, basically, any transaction that happens on the account."
"The API side of things is valuable. It is flexible enough to handle pretty much anything that needs to be done in an automated manner."

Cons

"The solution should improve its reporting feature. There should be more transparency around API development. At the moment, the clients are pushing custom API into the mail, so we don't have too much visibility regarding what endpoints they're pushing the data into."
"It gives me errors every time I try to send a newsletter to more than 400 people at a time."
"While it has many capabilities it could be more user-friendly."
"A standalone system for private servers would be ideal."
"The solution could be easier to use."
"A standalone system for private servers would be ideal."
"Automated workflows do not have control for dynamic behavioral targeting in any way."
"Sadly now Mailchimp has started charging for the use of the auto-responder (automation) emails, so it's lost it's edge for the free services."
"Mailgun doesn't have this."
"Preview of email as sent - currently, the preview is an image."
"The solution needs better templating and email validation."
"SendGrid could improve pricing flexibility and offer more detailed analytics without extra cost."
"The biggest problem that we have faced is with the authentication during login. For certain people, SendGrid requires MFA, which is good as a security feature, but it doesn't always work in all geographies. We've got people and users who are based in Nigeria, and some of those people had real trouble logging into SendGrid because the MFA wouldn't send codes to people on their numbers. The security mechanism that they use for login doesn't work in all geographies."
"SendGrid has positively impacted my organization as we moved to it from our own email servers, though it also gives us less control over everything."
"SendGrid is already nice, but it could be improved by providing the company ID when sending the email."
"Pricing can be improved for SendGrid, as this is the only area I have seen that needs enhancement."
"SendGrid is a great solution. I don't have any areas of improvement."
"Customer Service: 4/5. Technical Support: 3/5."
"The documentation is not fine, so I believe the documentation needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I primarily use the free version, but sometimes, for specific client needs, we may have to purchase different versions or packages."
"MailChimp is affordable."
"We pay $80 a month to use the solution."
"Its cost can vary. It can go as low as $10 or $15 to $1,000 depending on how much you use it."
"The basic plan starts at €90 per month."
"My company pays for SendGrid monthly, and though I cannot share the amount, my feedback is that the vendor should accept other modes of payment apart from a credit card."
"I use the essential plan which is $20 a month. After that, we use the pro which is $90 a month, and had all our costs bundled in."
"We are using the Advanced plan,10K. That is about $100 per month but sometimes we do go over the limit of the plan."
"The solution is relatively inexpensive."
