Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One feature that is really important to us is the ability to create secure notes.""The most valuable feature for me is being able to pair applications and user permissions.""The shared folders is an important feature. It's the primary feature we use. Also, the ability for LastPass to autofill and hide the passwords, so we don't have to keep changing passwords every time a person leaves, is valuable.""This product helps keep us secure.""The initial setup for this process is straightforward and extremely easy. It just works.""Off-boarding of people is easy without changing shared account passwords.""Increased security around password management for teams and collaborative efforts with external vendors.""Scalability is fine, no issues with that, especially now that they have added different user-level permissions. That has made it a lot easier to delegate out certain features to have other people do."

"We find the products seamless integration with Zendesk to be extremely valuable to our business.""It greatly assists small and medium-sized businesses in using the ITSM, alerting, and monitoring features.""Most features work fine.""The feature that we have found most useful are the dashboards, which can be built in minutes using this solution, allowing multiple products, thresholds, or any given required metric to be seen in a single area.""The feature we found most valuable in OpsRamp is alert generation because whenever there is any kind of spike on any virtual machine, the solution generates alerts based on the thresholds we implemented. We have integrated our ideas and tools with OpsRamp, so alerts are generated, then we notify the customers. That's the main feature we like about OpsRamp because we don't have to monitor each resource. Instead, OpsRamp does the monitoring for us, and it generates the alerts based on the thresholds.""The technical support is fantastic, and they are fast to respond.""The most valuable features of OpsRamp include a single pane of glass, event correlation, personalized dashboards, and a single platform solution.""Predictive analysis is a valued feature."

Cons
"We have issues from time to time where, for some reason, it just keeps auto logging-out the user and then, the next day, they'll come in and it will work just fine.""Right now we have two products; there is the password manager and there is the authenticator app. Ideally, these should be fully integrated and support better handling of two-factor authentication or any other authenticator data.""Our biggest issue over the years was around the stability of the LDAP sync to AD.""I would like to be able to reduce the log out time of the session.""I also don't like the add-in for Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, because when you do the add-in, you can actually save that to your credentials in your IE, and the problem is, if I left my screen open, or any of the IT people leave their screen open someone could come up and access all their credentials in LastPass without having to put a password in within your own network. I don't like that functionality. We've banned that from any of our staff adding that as an add-in because we see that as a security risk.""The ability to set up an account expiration limit/date would be very useful.""LastPass has a problem syncing the passwords to all of the users.""One thing I wish LastPass had is an integration with Active Directory, not for synchronizing users but to actually manage, in some way, privileged accounts by replacing the password of LastPass itself."

More LastPass Cons →

"OpsRamp could improve the critical alerts. We have been receiving some false alerts when monitoring. For example, the alert shows the site is down, but when we try to do manual access to the URL, it's accessible.""An area of improvement would be application monitoring.""We have 55 AVDs, and patches might roll out to 32-35 initially, with the rest taking a month or so. OpsRamp can't detect them all directly. Since clients want patches applied as soon as possible, we manually patch those remaining devices.""I would like to see two things. The first is a self-service portal for the cloud, any cloud deployments, and the second is maturity validation towards ITSM, internalizing OpsRamp TSM. As a result, instead of integrating with more mature tools similar to ServiceNow, people will use OpsRamp.""What's lacking in OpsRamp is process automation, and if there is, I wish there could be more of it, other than just spikes, or it would be better if the alerts can be generated based on different matrices. That option is absent in OpsRamp at the moment, and it would be valuable if that could be provided in the solution, especially if there's any kind of security issue in the VM.""The function to search any particular device within this solution needs to be improved. Currently, the solution develops a lag when a search, or a comparison, is being carried out.""Automation is currently quite complex and needs to be improved.""We would like this solution to be developed into a full CMP tool, so that we are able to use a single product for all of our cloud management needs."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If you import from sources like XML, keepass, CSV files be sure to clean the import files, this reduces the adjustments in the slow tool itself."
  • "You do not have to purchase licenses for your entire organization. You can scale as adoption grows."
  • "The previous pricing was of good value. I don't really know, as of now, whether the new pricing is. The Enterprise license is $48 per license per year now. That is a steep increase of $24, which is what it was when we first signed up."
  • "It would be nice to do a quarterly true-up process with them versus having to buy 50 licenses at a time when we realize we're out, then we have to buy more. So far, they have been nice about letting us exceed our allotment and just letting us true-up on our own, but a more robust quarterly true-up process would be good."
  • "The pricing and licensing are okay. Basically, at the last contract negotiation, they attempted to jack the rate up and we just said, "No." We still did negotiations with them, but they bumped everything up quite a bit."
  • "LastPass was cheap as chips. It was very cheap, hence one of the reasons we went with it. If you're a small organization and you're after something that'll do 90% of your requirements, it's very good. Licensing and all that was really cheap and simple to understand."
  • "I have been involved with many password managers. Passportal, Secret Server, CyberArk, and BeyondTrust. I chose LastPass for our organization because of the pricing. The organization didn't want to implement something really expensive. LastPass, for what it's offering, for the price that it's offering the service, is unbeatable."
  • "In terms of pricing, my feeling is that they are all roughly the same. LastPass is in line with its competitors, plus or minute a dollar or two per month."

  • "You pay it for a year and you'll have full access to the entire platform, not only for monitoring and alerting, you will have access to the entire platform, and whatever technology they develop will be made available to you."
  • "There is an annual licensing fee to use OpsRamp."
  • "I don't have any idea about the licensing cost for OpsRamp, but I just know that its pricing is based on the resource count for each tenant."
  • "OpsRamp is a cost-effective solution."
