Integration capabilities and reporting functions enhance workflow efficiency
The primary issue I have observed is that when JD Edwards World is installed, it involves a shared architecture between the development, test, and production environments. This setup should be avoided. Additionally, Oracle should integrate some AI features into JD Edwards World but not rely entirely on AI due to potential disadvantages, such as increased electricity consumption impacting global warming. Improvements are also needed in tech support, specifically in response time and quality.

Implementation simplifies ERP management with comprehensive data integration and visibility
A lot of people would say the pricing. SAP is seen as quite expensive even now. It doesn't work for smaller or medium optimizations. The licensing and pricing could be looked at. In Brownfield migration, the trade-off between greenfield and brownfield means you either keep it clean or match the business requirements. Sometimes, it's not possible to do both. While ValixAPI provides significant support in making those decisions and the SAP consultant is very useful, we are still dependent on past history and how it was originally set up. I wouldn't call that a real disadvantage, yet more accessible consulting would be beneficial. Incorporating all other cloud products, like APO or IPP, into the S/4 house might also help.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution's UI is user friendly and has good performance and good search facility."
"In my use cases, JD Edwards World offers flexibility in listing capabilities."
"Menu creation is easier now."
"The most valuable feature of JD Edwards World is its ease of use and unique functions."
"It has worked fine for many years."
"Collecting data in standard formats for processing in a data warehouse."
"We've found the initial setup to be easy."
"I like that JD Edwards World is perfect for my use cases, but what I like best about it is its navigation."
"It is a full-fledged, stable solution."
"The key modules that I find most valuable are material management (MM), financial accounting and controlling (FICO), and human resources (HR)."
"SAP S/4HANA dominates around 70 percent of the ERP market in Chile, and I believe this isn't merely coincidental. I've always maintained that if someone believes SAP S/4HANA lacks a certain functionality, they haven't explored it thoroughly. However, there's a widespread lack of understanding regarding its full potential and how to configure it."
"The biggest benefit of SAP S_4HANA is that you can manage all ERP systems effectively; if you're a production company, you can track product costs, manage profitability easily, and define sales prices."
"SAP S/4HANA is a very easy-to-use and user-friendly solution."
"The use of a memory-based database makes it more efficient."
"SAP offers specific functions related to my data use case."
"I like the user experience and usability of SAP Fiori, which is one of the main features that we are using."

Cons

"The integration technology could be stronger at this point."
"There is no support from Oracle here. We only have third-party support."
"There are a lot of new technologies coming out and JD Edwards World could improve by having better integration with other databases. The integration with the databases and applications should be in real-time, such as with Oracle."
"I have more than 18 years of JDE experience in JDE EnterpriseOne and World versions. I think JDE is good but compared to SAP and Oracle EPS, we can see which area needs to have some improvement for JDE."
"I would like report creation to be easier."
"Update interface capabilities and data maintenance tools to modern standards."
"The flexibility and ability to integrate external applications are increasingly vital."
"The user interface in JD Edwards World is very crude; I press a button to get to the application, unlike EnterpriseOne, which offers a more finished experience with dashboards."
"The solution could have a better user experience. However, they are working a lot on the user experience and they have come up with various applications, such as mobile applications. This was lacking over the last two years."
"The customer service and support are average. There is room for improvement in response time."
"This solution works with the configuration, if the prerequisites are very clear and can be configured it works perfectly. If you need to simulate something, as a predictive tool this kind of simulation is not very accurate and it has limitations. This is something that could improve."
"In my opinion, areas of SAP S_4HANA that have room for improvement would be in AI and insights generation, which would be a good enhancement for the future."
"The procure-to-pay solution in the Contract Management angle could be better. If you look at it on Ariba, the Contract Management Life Cycle for Ariba is more robust. You can create documentation, SLAs, and NDAs. Apart from the procurement aspect of the contract, you have the legal side, but Ariba cannot do that. From what I've seen, the features of the procure-to-pay model in S/4HANA and their Contract Life Cycle Management side primarily focus on the procurement side. I believe it would be good if this solution could handle a part of the legal side. They will incorporate Extended Warehouse Management and Transportation Management into the S/4HANA cloud. Most big companies that use a solution like S/4HANA have a legal department within the organization. Suppose they can incorporate that to be in S/4HANA suites; I think it'll be good. It will be just like what we have with Transportation Management and Extended Warehouse Management. The user interface could be better. They have too much information on the interface, and our customers still keep complaining that it looks complex. Even though many things have changed, they still complain that the interface or the screen they see is a bit complex. It's only when they see the Fiori interface that their mind becomes a bit calm."
"You will not see convenient user experiences with SAP S4HANA's website or application."
"There could be a bit more competitiveness in their licensing and pricing."
"It is expensive to implement SAP in companies, making it an area of concern where improvements are required."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing for JD Edwards World could be more affordable."
"The price of JD Edwards World is reasonable. Since it is a legacy solution the price has been reduced."
"You have to pay for a license, and the license cost is calculated based on the number of users you have."
"This is not the cheapest solution on the market, so you need to invest seriously in it. As a solid product, it has a solid price. It's definitely one of the more expensive tools on the market, but it's also one of the best products on the market."
"As for pricing, it depends on the business size and flow. If it's a medium-sized business, it might seem affordable, but for larger businesses with complex processes, it could be considered expensive."
"The pricing model is based on an annual license."
"There is a license required for the use of this solution and we are on a monthly subscription. The cost of the solution is expensive compared to other solutions."
"The solution is expensive."
"The price of SAP S4HANA is reasonable."
"It is costly in computing because these VMs have a huge CPU and utilization."
"Licensing costs are not transparent"
