Has required better change management and easier tool integration but supports certification needs and strong collaboration
The visualization tools are nearly similar, so it does not matter if you use DNG or even Jama Connect, but at Jama Connect, the selection and setup for running complex scripts is very powerful and fast compared to IBM, which is sometimes very slow due to the complex software which has lost focus on usability. The collaboration capabilities of Jama Connect are fantastic, and when comparing IBM, PTC, and Jama Connect, they are nearly equal because all three have recognized the importance of collaboration in today's work environment. The feature that I really appreciate about Jama Connect is its allowance for certifications through the FAA and FDA organizations in the US, which in the past was not possible for smaller companies because larger ones, such as Boeing and Airbus, often advised against using unapproved tools.

Service provider recognizes effective project tracking and reporting capabilities
Regarding integration with various development tools, I can provide examples, and I am using customizable dashboards in OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, which definitely help identify project bottlenecks. As for the scalability of OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, there are limitations, particularly in agile methodologies, which is currently my main concern.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use Jama Connect mainly for requirements management."
"Technical support answers fairly quickly compared to others like IBM or Atlassian. They also offer quite a good knowledge base for advanced cases and how to plan it, etc. via videos that they provide. They are quite useful."
"You can get full traceability with any other system. It also includes a test module, and you build the traceability matrix incrementally throughout the development process."
"The most valuable feature is the user-friendly interface."
"Provides suitable tools for managing regulatory requirements."
"The user experience is better than the competition."
"I can say that we enjoy Jama Connect."
"It is good at requirements management and test management, and for day-to-day users, it is very user-friendly."
"We're able to more accurately document our test results, our actual versus our expected results, with the new screenshot functionality."
"The solution's support team was always there to help."
"I think the tools might be effective if we could utilize them better."
"For a test management department, and we are highly audited, by the way, it allows us to have a single repository for all our projects where we do tests, as one go-to place for our test evidence."
"If you have the money then you can go with ALM, as it's a very good product."
"Micro Focus Quality Center helps in end-to-end traceability from releases to requirements to test cases and with defects."
"We mostly use the Defect module and then Test Plan, Test Lab, but if you ask about the most valuable feature it is the customization of any action in the ALM client."
"It centralized all the defects in our organization."

Cons

"There are a few areas where Jama Connect can improve. One suggestion is to enhance the built-in feature of profile generation."
"The initial setup is a bit complex."
"The solution is very software-centric, and its validation piece is not time-efficient at all."
"The user interface could be modernized and the product lacks project management functionalities."
"I believe one of the weak points is the reporting side."
"There are some security concerns with Jama Connect, including two-factor enablement."
"More automation could speed up workflows, flag errors more timely, and eliminate manual steps."
"I think there's room for improvement, especially with the review process. Reviews should be integrated with requirement evaluation instead of being separate from it. The review should not run parallel to the requirement."
"The reporting feature could be improved. It would be better if they simplified some things."
"If they could improve their BPT business components that would be good"
"One of the bigger issues is the licensing approach. They have concurrent usage and it's very expensive."
"Browser support needs improvement. Currently, it can only run on IE, Internet Explorer; it doesn't work on Firefox, doesn't work on Chrome, doesn't work on a Mac."
"As a standalone QA tool it meets the needs adequately, but it really needs combining with other solutions, such as Agile Manager, to get the best full lifecycle solution."
"HP-QC does not support Agile. It is designed for Waterfall."
"As for the scalability of OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, there are limitations, particularly in agile methodologies, which is currently my main concern."
"We had problems with Solution Manager/SAP integration and use through customizing RFC calls."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Jama Connect is a little pricy."
"If you want to have creative licenses, pricing may be an issue with the licenses, as it can become quite expensive over time to serve many people."
"The cost seems very competitive with other offerings."
"To have a single source for all the requirements and all the change requests our company gets is the most valuable feature. It has also helped us to keep track of reviews."
"The licensing fee is a little expensive."
"Most vendors offer the same pricing, though some vendors offer a cheaper price for their cloud/SaaS solution versus their on-premise. However, cloud/SaaS solutions result in a loss of freedom. E.g., if you want to make a change, most of the time it needs to be validated by the vendor, then you're being charged an addition fee. Sometimes, even if you are rejected, you are charged because it's a risk to the entire environment."
"Sure, HP UFT is not free. But consider what you get for that cost: A stable product that is easy to use; the kitchen sink of technology stack support; decades of code (which in many cases actually is free); a version that is a stepping stone to an easier Selenium design; and a support base that is more that just the kindness of strangers."
"The solution is priceed high."
"It all comes down to how many people are going to access the tool. When teams go above 20, I think ALM is a better tool to use from a collaboration and streamlining perspective."
"It allows us to keep our costs low. I do not want to pay beyond a certain point for this solution."
"Seat and concurrent licensing models exist; the latter is recommended if a large number of different users will be utilizing the product."
"For pricing, I recommend to buy a bundled package. Check the HPE site for more details."
