Has required better change management and easier tool integration but supports certification needs and strong collaboration
The visualization tools are nearly similar, so it does not matter if you use DNG or even Jama Connect, but at Jama Connect, the selection and setup for running complex scripts is very powerful and fast compared to IBM, which is sometimes very slow due to the complex software which has lost focus on usability. The collaboration capabilities of Jama Connect are fantastic, and when comparing IBM, PTC, and Jama Connect, they are nearly equal because all three have recognized the importance of collaboration in today's work environment. The feature that I really appreciate about Jama Connect is its allowance for certifications through the FAA and FDA organizations in the US, which in the past was not possible for smaller companies because larger ones, such as Boeing and Airbus, often advised against using unapproved tools.

Service provider recognizes effective project tracking and reporting capabilities
Regarding integration with various development tools, I can provide examples, and I am using customizable dashboards in OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, which definitely help identify project bottlenecks. As for the scalability of OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, there are limitations, particularly in agile methodologies, which is currently my main concern.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is good at requirements management and test management, and for day-to-day users, it is very user-friendly."
"Jama helped our employees, mostly software engineers, to be more aware of where the requirements are and how to determine them, making the visibility more clear so we can better fulfill international standards in our line of work."
"Support has been excellent - an advantage of working with a somewhat smaller vendor interested in making users successful."
"The most valuable feature is the user-friendly interface."
"In Jama Connect, users have the capability to view and manage all test cases directly within the platform and execute them. The entire product specification, spanning various domains such as electrical, mechanical, software, and testing, is consolidated within Jama Connect."
"This solution seems to be the most complete product and it has the requirements management part, which is really mature."
"Technical support answers fairly quickly compared to others like IBM or Atlassian. They also offer quite a good knowledge base for advanced cases and how to plan it, etc. via videos that they provide. They are quite useful."
"The feature that I really appreciate about Jama Connect is its allowance for certifications through the FAA and FDA organizations in the US, which in the past was not possible for smaller companies because larger ones, such as Boeing and Airbus, often advised against using unapproved tools."
"The tool's most valuable feature is that it is user-friendly, and everybody can learn to use it easily."
"The ability to show end-to-end tractability between requirements, tests, defects, and also reporting."
"It is a tool, and it works. It has got good linkage and good traceability between the test cases and the defects. It has got lots of features for testing."
"Overall, it has absolutely reduced the time it takes to do testing."
"Requirements, testing, defect management, all integrated in one solution."
"We have developers, project managers, stakeholders, everybody referring to one single point-of-truth for everything that is related to a project, from requirements, test cases, coverage, defect tracking, and reporting."
"Integration with other HPE products."
"It's the perfect tool for testing purposes, but you need to consider other options if development teams do not use the environments supported by Quality Center."

Cons

"I have inquired about pricing for this solution but have not yet heard anything, so their response time in this regard is something that should be improved."
"More automation could speed up workflows, flag errors more timely, and eliminate manual steps."
"Test management can be improved. It's not so scalable. The user interface needs to split things into small projects."
"I think there's room for improvement, especially with the review process. Reviews should be integrated with requirement evaluation instead of being separate from it. The review should not run parallel to the requirement."
"There are a few areas where Jama Connect can improve. One suggestion is to enhance the built-in feature of profile generation."
"There are delays sometimes from the Jama Connect team in resolving issues."
"The collaboration feature in Jama Connect could be improved because it is only used by a limited number of people within an organization due to license costs."
"The solution is expensive."
"Is not very user-friendly."
"One issue I have faced was that while I was importing test cases from Excel to Quality Center, it was not asking to check out the test cases but instead it would overwrite the default test cases and create a new version for it."
"I'd like to see the concept of teams put into it."
"This product wouldn't really be suitable if a company is in an Agile and DevOps transformation program."
"There are cases where the system does not meet our reporting requirements."
"It needs Pure-FTPd WebUI and single sign-on."
"It’s too expensive for most organizations compared to some other tools on the market."
"We cannot rearrange the Grid in the Test Lab. It is in alphabetical order right now. But sometimes a user will want to see, for example, the X column next to the B column. If they came out with that it would be useful for us. They are working on that, as we have raised that request with Micro Focus."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Jama Connect is a little pricy."
"To have a single source for all the requirements and all the change requests our company gets is the most valuable feature. It has also helped us to keep track of reviews."
"If you want to have creative licenses, pricing may be an issue with the licenses, as it can become quite expensive over time to serve many people."
"The cost seems very competitive with other offerings."
"I'd rate the pricing as 3/10 as it's very expensive."
"Depending on the volume, the annual maintenance costs vary on a percentage but it's around $300 a year per license for maintenance. It's at 18% of the total cost of the license."
"The licensing fee is a little expensive."
"It's a perpetual license."
"The pricing is expensive nowadays."
"Seat and concurrent licensing models exist; the latter is recommended if a large number of different users will be utilizing the product."
"The solution has the ability to handle a large number of projects and users in an enterprise environment with the correct license."
"The solution was expensive for us."
