Has required better change management and easier tool integration but supports certification needs and strong collaboration
The visualization tools are nearly similar, so it does not matter if you use DNG or even Jama Connect, but at Jama Connect, the selection and setup for running complex scripts is very powerful and fast compared to IBM, which is sometimes very slow due to the complex software which has lost focus on usability. The collaboration capabilities of Jama Connect are fantastic, and when comparing IBM, PTC, and Jama Connect, they are nearly equal because all three have recognized the importance of collaboration in today's work environment. The feature that I really appreciate about Jama Connect is its allowance for certifications through the FAA and FDA organizations in the US, which in the past was not possible for smaller companies because larger ones, such as Boeing and Airbus, often advised against using unapproved tools.

Service provider recognizes effective project tracking and reporting capabilities
Regarding integration with various development tools, I can provide examples, and I am using customizable dashboards in OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, which definitely help identify project bottlenecks. As for the scalability of OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, there are limitations, particularly in agile methodologies, which is currently my main concern.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Jama helped our employees, mostly software engineers, to be more aware of where the requirements are and how to determine them, making the visibility more clear so we can better fulfill international standards in our line of work."
"This solution seems to be the most complete product and it has the requirements management part, which is really mature."
"The feature that I really appreciate about Jama Connect is its allowance for certifications through the FAA and FDA organizations in the US, which in the past was not possible for smaller companies because larger ones, such as Boeing and Airbus, often advised against using unapproved tools."
"We use Jama Connect mainly for requirements management."
"Support has been excellent - an advantage of working with a somewhat smaller vendor interested in making users successful."
"Provides suitable tools for managing regulatory requirements."
"The relationship mapping feature is especially helpful, as it allows us to connect different requirements and compliance-related documentation."
"Technical support answers fairly quickly compared to others like IBM or Atlassian. They also offer quite a good knowledge base for advanced cases and how to plan it, etc. via videos that they provide. They are quite useful."
"Helps in providing an archive of test suites for easy regression."
"For our clients it provides a centralized means of accessing data, monitoring progress, and creating a singular view on the test status within the business."
"I found the ease of use most valuable in Micro Focus ALM Quality Center. Creating test cases is easier because the solution allows writing in Excel."
"As far as we know, it's the best tool on the market right now."
"Different modules (e.g. Requirements, Test Plan, Test Lab) provide traceability from requirements, test cases, and defects, along with project analysis in terms of progress via the dashboard reports."
"Reporting was the main thing because, at my level, I was looking for a picture of exactly what the coverage was, which areas were tested, and where the gaps were. The reporting also allowed me to see test planning and test cases across the landscape."
"By using QC we broke down silos (of teams), improved the organization of our tests, have a much better view of the testing status, and became much quicker in providing test results with document generation."
"Overall I would recommend it, because of its ease of use."

Cons

"There are some security concerns with Jama Connect, including two-factor enablement."
"I think there's room for improvement, especially with the review process. Reviews should be integrated with requirement evaluation instead of being separate from it. The review should not run parallel to the requirement."
"There are delays sometimes from the Jama Connect team in resolving issues."
"It is rather slow, so the speed of the process and consuming information should be improved."
"Test management can be improved. It's not so scalable."
"I think Jama Connect's change management feature is not well developed at this stage, as it lacks many steps for marks, building IDs, and the usual functionalities such as comparing past changes and generating reports automatically."
"I have inquired about pricing for this solution but have not yet heard anything, so their response time in this regard is something that should be improved."
"There are a few areas where Jama Connect can improve. One suggestion is to enhance the built-in feature of profile generation."
"There are always new features and more support for new and legacy technology architectures with each release, but the bad news is a growing list of long-standing issues with the product rarely gets addressed."
"The integration could be improved because with Agile technology you are working more quickly than with a top-down methodology."
"I am not an end user so I can't really say. But, I would like to see improvement in the price."
"We would like to have support for agile development."
"Only Internet Explorer is supported. That is a big problem. They don't support Chrome and Firefox and so on."
"It is not a scalable solution."
"The UFT tests don't work very well and it seems to depend on things as simple as the screen resolution on a machine that I've moved to."
"User-friendliness, it requires some time to get used to."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"To have a single source for all the requirements and all the change requests our company gets is the most valuable feature. It has also helped us to keep track of reviews."
"The cost seems very competitive with other offerings."
"If you want to have creative licenses, pricing may be an issue with the licenses, as it can become quite expensive over time to serve many people."
"Jama Connect is a little pricy."
"For pricing, I recommend to buy a bundled package. Check the HPE site for more details."
"It allows us to keep our costs low. I do not want to pay beyond a certain point for this solution."
"Quality Center is pricey, but cheaper is not always less expensive."
"The enterprise pricing and licensing are reasonable."
"Pricing could be improved as it's high-priced. I don't exactly know the pricing point, but previously, I know that it was really high so less people were able to use it for their projects."
"Only major companies that can afford it use OpenText ALM."
"The licensing fee is a little expensive."
"Depending on the volume, the annual maintenance costs vary on a percentage but it's around $300 a year per license for maintenance. It's at 18% of the total cost of the license."
