We performed a comparison between Infrascale Backup & Disaster Recovery and VMware Aria Operations based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Commvault, Zerto and others in Cloud Backup."The initial setup was straightforward and we received support from the manufacturer."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to boot locally, as well as in Infrascale's cloud. This means that we can either do on-site failover or failover to their cloud."
"The Infrascale Dashboard is very easy to understand, has a good overview, and gives me access to all my appliances without having to have a local VPN connection to the individual clients. It makes it very easy to find my way around."
"Its Critical Server Insurance feature for protecting physical and virtual servers, including Windows, Linux, VMware, and Hyper-V is mandatory for me and it makes me happy. If I had a backup solution that didn't do that, it would not be a backup solution and would not be any good."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it is simple to use."
"The most valuable feature is disaster recovery, where we have the ability to boot up VMs quickly in a disaster."
"The overall ease of use and management of the solution using the Infrascale Dashboard is very good. We haven't had any issues. It is easy to learn. Most of our techs who deal with backups are usually up and running with the dashboard within a day or so. They don't have a lot of buried features where you have to dig through things to get to the resolution. It is pretty self-explanatory."
"Given that we are in the hurricane belt, the spin-up of replicated servers in the cloud is among the most valuable features. If our site goes down we can just connect to the cloud appliance, spin up the servers, and we are good to go."
"The ease of installation and configuration is the most valuable feature, especially for VMware and the cloud."
"For scalability, vROps has functionality where you can add remote collectors and remote data collectors, databases."
"The one that comes to mind is the ability for us to see how our VDI environment."
"It has helped us improve our end users lives with our Horizon VDI monitoring. We can look at our Horizon environment, see our response times for our users, quickly drill into any latency issues, and proactively troubleshoot without the end user not even knowing."
"Based on those usage patterns, we can determine when our best maintenance times are and when we need to scale things up or down."
"It helps us by our using the Troubleshooting Dashboard to see if there is contention on the VM that's causing performance issues or if it's a problem with the resources it has or if it doesn't have enough. It helps lower the troubleshooting time on virtual machines."
"I would rate this solution a seven. We don't use it enough for me to give it a ten. There's a lot of value to it but we don't fully exercise it. It's a great product depending on what everyone's needs are."
"Through the trending analysis that we can do, it allowed us to quickly and easily right-size the capacity from a cluster."
"I would like to see more features for the section on the viruses and maybe another in reference to two-factor authentication."
"The pricing model that they recently changed to is a little bit complicated, and the biggest area for improvement is a better way of figuring out how to price it."
"Having options to replicate between their data centers, once the data is offsite, would be an improvement that they could make."
"The only thing I would suggest, and I have talked to my manager about it already, is that they should have a direct backup-to-cloud solution. It should be something that does not require me to do an image backup, and then individual file and folder backups, to be able to restore individual files."
"I would like to be able to limit the bandwidth in cases, for example, where we are uploading the backup."
"There is room for improvement by making the interface a little more intuitive when navigating to recover flat files or an old server."
"One of the significant drawbacks of it is due to the fact that we're using two devices to manage the same vCenter, or virtualization environment, and they don't talk to each other. That means I can't easily see what VMs are already being protected. If I'm on Infrascale device "A" and I have protected these VMs, when I go over to device "B," I can't see that those VMs are already covered."
"They set me up as a vendor, not as a client. So sometimes I end up in the wrong portal and I'm doing vendor things instead of client things, and I didn't realize that right away. Once I figured it out I just changed my favorites on my desktop to go to the client-side."
"I would like to see them bring in metrics for other things in the infrastructure, not just the virtual infrastructure: for example, being able to bring in metrics from my arrays themselves or my fiber channel switches or my ethernet switches. Being able to collect that data would help in being able to lay a holistic view on top of how my entire system is functioning, from the hypervisor all the way down to my end-point."
"One of the most valuable features was the cluster modeling, but they took that away... They keep saying that it's going to be back in the next release and that's what we're looking for. We really want that back."
"When you are at your lowest, support is pretty bad. They ask you dumb questions but when you come to second and upper service desk, it is much easier and much better to talk to and resolve the issue."
"Sometimes it's difficult to find some features like they were in previous versions."
"VMware vRealize Operations (vROps) can improve the Layer 3 hypervisor VM infrastructure because we do not manage other applications. We need a package, which is too expensive. We would like to manage native VMware applications, VMware native components, hypervisor, and storage, such as vSAN."
"A lot of feedback that we're getting from some of our engineers who are actually using Operations today is that the graphics are very low-key. When it comes to red, yellow, green, yes, "Skittles Theory," but when it actually comes down to what's optimized and what's not optimized, it's very rudimentary. If they could actually make nicer pie charts or graphics involved in it, it would make it a lot easier to read the data on a higher level, rather than actually having to dive down and know specifically what you're looking at."
"One thing I don't like is, all the scales are self-referencing. So when I get a number one, is that one out of ten, one out of a hundred? I don't know. So I can say these servers are performing ten times better than that server but I don't know where the scale goes."
"User-friendly? It could probably use a little work there. It is something of a beast. There's a lot that it can do and getting in there and getting everything working the way you want it to can be challenging."
