Have built secure, automated DNS pipelines and simplified cloud DNS management through integration
I would like to see a bunch of templated or policy-driven provisioning for DNSSEC in the next release of Infoblox BloxOne DDI. Additionally, I would like to see DNS hosting so you do not have to deploy the NIOS appliances yourself or manage another cloud DNS service. This would allow you to pare back your DNS registration and hosting to just registrar services. That way, you would have a fully integrated, vertically integrated API stack for being able to affect all of your automated changes against your actual public authorities as well rather than just your internal resolvers and authorities. I think that would be something quite cool for them to have.

Centralized IP management has reduced outages and now delivers faster, disciplined network operations
Infoblox NIOS can be improved because there is always a scope of improvement in everything. I would recommend UI simplicity. The UI is powerful, actually, but it feels heavy for new users. A more modern and task-oriented interface would reduce the onboarding time. Advanced features such as grid extensibility and APIs require solid training. Better guided workflows and in-product tips would help teams adopt faster. Reporting and dashboard are very interactive, but I think the built-in reports are functional but basic. More customizable visual dashboards would help managers and NOCs quickly see trends. The licensing clarity feels a bit complex. If the packaging were clearer and there was easier visibility of the feature uses, it would help with planning and cost control. I feel that if there could be any feature related to role-based self-service portals integrated for non-network teams, that would help in reducing the dependency on the network team for other teams. That would help in collaborating better.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of Infoblox BloxOne DDI are its ability to manage all DDI services effectively and monitor them in real-time."
"It actually prevents a lot of false alarms because if a link is blocked by antivirus, it creates an alert for the IT risk team to investigate. By not resolving the IP for a malicious link, it stops many issues before they escalate. This has improved our security posture significantly."
"The overall product rating is ten out of ten."
"In my experience, I am satisfied with the functionality; there is no lack of functions, and it is a very powerful solution because they work with this technology, so they are probably number one."
"A valuable feature is blocking domain generation, which automatically generates domains to protect the internal network."
"When we compare, if we spend 200,000 to 250,000 every year or every second year on security compliance, that is money we could transfer into the licensing for a SaaS service such as Infoblox BloxOne DDI, then we get all of the continuous patching, threat analysis, and that type of capability coming through without having to maintain such skilled staff."
"Infoblox NIOS has positively impacted my organization in several ways, as automation using PowerShell and CSV scripts saved significant time and reduced errors, while a central policy for DNS and DHCP changes enhanced operational reliability, sped up delivery times, and maintained high data quality by minimizing discrepancies between spreadsheets and tools."
"Infoblox NIOS has positively impacted my organization because since we began using the tool, we have experienced fewer outages regarding IP conflicts, wrong DNS entries, and DHCP mistakes."
"Infoblox NIOS has a very huge capability of automation, and most of the work can be automated on the DDI front."
"Centralized management is valuable, and using the GRID system, it works very effectively."
"Infoblox NIOS does not have a need for great improvement; it is a very robust and self-sufficient tool out of the box, offering most of the features which a customer would need."
"DNS Threat Protection feature is probably one of the primary reasons to use Infoblox NIOS."
"Infoblox NIOS has impacted my organization positively by giving us an overview about how users utilize the internet, stopping many DNS breaches generated by internal users, and helping us to determine the distribution of IP addresses through DNS IPAM."
"Infoblox NIOS has positively impacted my organization by providing visibility and control over everything."

Cons

"There are probably some strict agreements, and the answers are probably not so rapid. The responsiveness could at least be improved, but I have not had many cases, just a few."
"There is a need for a comprehensive database on DNS."
"At this stage, we are struggling to use some of the DNS features of the platform, which are more about protecting your domain from hijacking and similar threats."
"Infoblox BloxOne DDI is good to use, but there could be improvements in its visualization and dashboarding UI."
"Infoblox is fairly expensive for my customers. I am unsure if this is a general comment or specific to my situation."
"Infoblox BloxOne DDI would not be for smaller companies. I think if you are under 1,200 staff, you probably want to look for a professional service or something that is integrated into the platforms you have already got."
"Customer service rating: 4 out of 10."
"From the automation perspective, Infoblox NIOS is helpful in normal IT technology work, but there are not many things to automate within Infoblox NIOS, so the automation perspective is not very strong in this product."
"In a world where everything is simplified and simplification becomes a buzzword, Infoblox NIOS has some work to do regarding making the deployment process less tricky and less complicated."
"One improvement for Infoblox NIOS is the cost, especially when dealing with the physical device, as it is expensive."
"I feel the product is very reliable, and I think the cost may be a bit high, but apart from that, I have no suggestions or feedback for any improvement."
"My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing feels somewhat higher."
"Sometimes we face API limitations, and some developers feel that the API documentation and certain basic functionalities could be improved."
"For the learning curve with Infoblox NIOS, this could be a drawback; I think the website is very difficult to get information from, but we attended helpful training and regularly work with the support team and professional services, which helped us master Infoblox NIOS functionalities."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the pricing a ten out of ten, with ten being very expensive."
