Centralized DNS management has improved secure routing, monitoring, and compliance for our domains
The most valuable features of Amazon Route 53 that I have found include hosted zones, which allow us to configure domains for different hosted zones, a crucial aspect for sectors such as banking and finance that require DC and DR for data disaster recovery, as well as the ability to add alias records, such as A and CNAME records. This enables us to manage subdomains easily, such as us-sub.com under the main domain us.com, which is generated and trusted by ACM. Additionally, Amazon Route 53 includes a useful DNS firewall feature. The integration of Amazon Route 53 with AWS services optimizes our infrastructure management, as today's architecture is migrated to serverless. Keeping everything within AWS, including the DNS resolver in a single VPC and protected, significantly improves security and compliance, and everything is logged into CloudTrail and monitored via CloudWatch.

Have built secure, automated DNS pipelines and simplified cloud DNS management through integration
I would like to see a bunch of templated or policy-driven provisioning for DNSSEC in the next release of Infoblox BloxOne DDI. Additionally, I would like to see DNS hosting so you do not have to deploy the NIOS appliances yourself or manage another cloud DNS service. This would allow you to pare back your DNS registration and hosting to just registrar services. That way, you would have a fully integrated, vertically integrated API stack for being able to affect all of your automated changes against your actual public authorities as well rather than just your internal resolvers and authorities. I think that would be something quite cool for them to have.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution offers you the flexibility to control configuration rules."
"The feature for health check efficiently impacts the uptime and reliability of AWS servers including EC2 and EKS."
"Route 53 is valued for its health check feature and reliability."
"The reliability and the durability of the services are quite high."
"The tool's most valuable feature is in the area of domain registration and routing DNS."
"Using Amazon Route 53 is located in a central place in Amazon AWS which makes it easier to manage every DNS entry in one place. You are able to manage your public and private DNS from there. We can create rules based on weight and globalization is impressive."
"The solution effectively monitors the health of resources and provides good identity access management."
"Host zones and integrated features such as Health Checks and DNS routing are valuable features of Route 53."
"The overall product rating is ten out of ten."
"When we compare, if we spend 200,000 to 250,000 every year or every second year on security compliance, that is money we could transfer into the licensing for a SaaS service such as Infoblox BloxOne DDI, then we get all of the continuous patching, threat analysis, and that type of capability coming through without having to maintain such skilled staff."
"It actually prevents a lot of false alarms because if a link is blocked by antivirus, it creates an alert for the IT risk team to investigate. By not resolving the IP for a malicious link, it stops many issues before they escalate. This has improved our security posture significantly."
"The most valuable features of Infoblox BloxOne DDI are its ability to manage all DDI services effectively and monitor them in real-time."
"A valuable feature is blocking domain generation, which automatically generates domains to protect the internal network."
"In my experience, I am satisfied with the functionality; there is no lack of functions, and it is a very powerful solution because they work with this technology, so they are probably number one."

Cons

"Streamlining and optimizing processes related to Procter, VPN workflows, and other subjects based on specific needs would allow for continual improvement and adaptation to the evolving requirements of the system."
"The product should improve its automation."
"The solution should have a more user-friendly user interface."
"The tool's support services lack chat options offered to users, making it an area where improvements are required."
"Error tracing could be made more intuitive."
"The product’s security and disaster recovery features need enhancement."
"Supporting DNS check is one feature missing in the solution."
"With Amazon Route 53, finding what you want is so much more difficult, making it an area where improvements are required."
"Infoblox BloxOne DDI is good to use, but there could be improvements in its visualization and dashboarding UI."
"Infoblox is fairly expensive for my customers. I am unsure if this is a general comment or specific to my situation."
"At this stage, we are struggling to use some of the DNS features of the platform, which are more about protecting your domain from hijacking and similar threats."
"There are probably some strict agreements, and the answers are probably not so rapid. The responsiveness could at least be improved, but I have not had many cases, just a few."
"There is a need for a comprehensive database on DNS."
"Infoblox BloxOne DDI would not be for smaller companies. I think if you are under 1,200 staff, you probably want to look for a professional service or something that is integrated into the platforms you have already got."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Amazon Route 53 is reasonable."
"Amazon Route 53 is not an expensive solution."
"We pay per use."
"The price of the product is perfectly fine in my opinion."
"The price of the solution could be a little bit lower compared to Google DNS, which has more features than Amazon."
"Amazon Route 53 is not that expensive."
"It can be expensive compared to some other providers."
"Amazon Route 53 is an expensive solution."
"I would rate the pricing a ten out of ten, with ten being very expensive."
