It's easy to set up because you point the DNS to it, and it's working in under 15 minutes
Cloudflare is highly scalable. Cloudflare is a system with a web portal that the end users like me see. It's a console where we can adjust the DNS, caching, and security features all in that console. Cloudflare owns thousands of servers across the world that cache the data. It's a powerful solution. When clients sign up for Cloudflare, they're getting this monster content delivery network, security, and a web application firewall in one. It's all rolled into one, and it's massive. Unless you have your website hosted on a massive hosting provider, there's no way that you can deliver the amount of data that Cloudflare can provide to the end users. If you have static content, there's no way that you can ever match what Cloudflare can do. Obviously, there are competitors to Cloudflare that do the same, but I'm saying other types of solutions. Let's say you go with F5. Great, that's on-prem. That's in your colo. You can't deliver as much data to the internet as you can with a CDN. You don't have to spend $20,000 on a net scaler, F5, or whatever Cisco's selling now. You don't have to buy that. You pay them $50 a month or $150 a month. It's totally worth it because even in five years, you'll never get the performance value, not just the actual ROI. You have to consider how much throughput you can get with Cloudflare.

Acts as a first line of defense, allows for full utilization of IP addresses in a network and the ability to block unwanted traffic using DNS is powerful
At this stage, we are struggling to use some of the DNS features of the platform, which are more about protecting your domain from hijacking and similar threats. However, I don't think it is a problem with the platform itself. It seems to be more of an integration issue with the secondary DNS provider we are trying to use on the Internet, called Cloudflare. So, it is more of an integration problem between Cloudflare DNS and any public DNS. I would like to improve the integration aspect of these two products. The platform should be able to work seamlessly with any other secondary DNS provider on the Internet. If Infoblox can make their licensing cheaper, then this platform could be widely used because it does cost a fortune to have it. That's why we do not have it in every entity that we manage.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution automatically detects and responds to certain types of traffic based on geolocation."
"The features of Cloudflare were found to be more beneficial and led to the decision to utilize it over other options."
"There are key things that are used for our enterprise customers, such as Lambda and DNS."
"The most valuable feature of Cloudflare is the GUI. You are able to control the solution very well through the interface. There is a lot of functionality that is embedded in the service."
"Cloudflare consolidates various capabilities into one product, streamlining processes."
"I like Cloudflare's application gateway and DDoS protection."
"Cloudflare offers CDN and DDoS protection. We have the front end, API, and database in how you structure applications."
"The overall experience with Cloudflare is positive, with a rating of eight out of ten."
"A valuable feature is blocking domain generation, which automatically generates domains to protect the internal network."
"It actually prevents a lot of false alarms because if a link is blocked by antivirus, it creates an alert for the IT risk team to investigate. By not resolving the IP for a malicious link, it stops many issues before they escalate. This has improved our security posture significantly."
"The most valuable features of Infoblox BloxOne DDI are its ability to manage all DDI services effectively and monitor them in real-time."
"The overall product rating is ten out of ten."

Cons

"The product needs to improve its automation."
"DNS Management."
"Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to buy Cloudflare in my country."
"The timing aspect can lead to it being considered overpriced. This is a particular concern we have with Cloudflare, as they may struggle with accurately detecting the client."
"Technical support is lacking."
"Latencies are always a problem."
"It should have easier documentation for the configuration. It's very technical and people who aren't technical should also be able to do the configuration."
"The documentation could improve for Cloudflare DNS."
"Infoblox BloxOne DDI is good to use, but there could be improvements in its visualization and dashboarding UI."
"At this stage, we are struggling to use some of the DNS features of the platform, which are more about protecting your domain from hijacking and similar threats."
"Infoblox is fairly expensive for my customers. I am unsure if this is a general comment or specific to my situation."
"There is a need for a comprehensive database on DNS."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is a premium product, so it is very expensive."
"I believe their performance has improved, but I'd like to refrain from discussing the pricing aspect related to the cloud. The pricing, in my opinion, could be simplified, and I think they should consider reevaluating the pricing for support, as it can be quite high. At times, this cost can make it challenging to choose CARFAGuard or opt for the support."
"The pricing depends on the usage, but the cheapest would be around 5,000 USD a month."
"I give the price a five out of ten."
"I think the pricing is competitive. I think as far as licensing is concerned it's pretty straightforward because it's based on domain. It's just that sometimes domains could be tricky with some customers."
"Cloudflare's pricing is not much higher and is good for middle-level organizations."
"The price is reasonable."
"We are using the free version."
"I would rate the pricing a ten out of ten, with ten being very expensive."
