It's easy to setup and the plugins are easy to write. When we need to, the threshold is easy to change.
It's easy to setup and the plugins are easy to write. When we need to, the threshold is easy to change It would be nice to have a centralized client-settings management. At the moment, the client settings have to be changed individually. I've used it since 2011. The deployment of the new server…

Helps us detect cyber threats quickly and integrate multiple feeds effectively
Overall, the product is good, but when it comes to some infrastructure issues, we have to dig into more logs. There is no straightforward indication of an issue. Health check kind of dashboards are not available. More AI would help us, and more optimization, since security products run more queries. The AI module could suggest solutions, optimizing queries or workload balancing. If the product itself advises on running queries during peak times, it would be similar to what ChatGPT currently offers. We see quite a few issues on stability. Even last week, we faced something, and identifying bottlenecks is not easy. We need more SMEs, and there is no mechanism to tell us about indexer or search head issues. Self-monitoring dashboards could be beneficial. The technical support still requires more improvement. Often, primary support takes a lot of time and forwards most solutions to the engineering side. The primary support team has very limited knowledge to provide.

Pros

"It's easy to setup and the plugins are easy to write."
"Splunk setup is easy and straightforward. "
"Some of the insights that we have obtained as a part of using Splunk have greatly helped us in increasing our revenue in terms of selling our products."
"Can ingest data from various data sources, is very useful for organizations who are attempting to meet compliance requirements, and is able to fully configure and integrate various solutions into one tool and provide actionable results."
"Splunk's strength lies in its single-page view."
"I am satisfied with the support."
"Splunk's interface is user-friendly, and it has apps and add-ons for most applications. We can easily normalize the data to make it readable and understand the logs. We easily get all the field extractions and enrichment done by using the apps and add-ons. This helps us understand the application logs because the raw data is useless unless we extract some useful information from it. These add-ons make it so much easier."
"Its integration is most valuable, and its UI is also pretty much easy."
"It's standardized and easy to use, so you don't have to have a lot of top-tier analysts to do the same job."

Cons

"Deploying an agent leaves much to be desired."
"The only downside is the pricing."
"Overall, I don't think that this is a very good product and I don't recommend it."
"Splunk's high cost, despite its recognition in our region, prevents many organizations from adopting Splunk Enterprise Security, suggesting there's room for improvement in their pricing strategy."
"Operational workflow, use case framework, and ticketing systems need improvement to make it suitable for SOC environments."
"A lot of people are averse to using new tools so if they make it even more user-friendly than it already is, I think that could go a long way."
"Regarding room for improvement, I expect Splunk to provide information about new features on a regular basis, such as notifications about enhancements that may improve security posture."
"The threat detection library needs to increase the frequency at which the playbooks are updated."
"The incident response dashboard could be more user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available

"My customers have found the price of the solution to be high."
"It's a little bit expensive for a small to medium enterprise."
"It can be expensive, especially the licensing costs. However, there is added value in what it can do, not just log aggregation."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is not at all cost-friendly to be deployed in very small enterprises like start-ups."
"Splunk is not a cheap solution and the license is billed annually."
