Allows us to create flexible schedules for on-call rotations
For alerts, we could choose to get a text message, app notification, or a phone call. The phone calls were very unusable, because it just read a bunch of numbers, like an ID of the alert. If there was a way to customize the phone call message, that would be great. Later, we would try to read the message, but it wasn't great at reading that. They had some sort of internal chat functionality where if we got an alert, we could write to somebody else and ask them for help, but that was super cumbersome. There could be improvements with communicating an incident or alert. Imagine you call the help desk and you say that your computer is broken and then they say, "Actually, the internet is broken, so let us forward your alerts to the network people." And the network people say, "Actually, the electricity is the problem, so let us forward it to the electricity people." Basically, you could send the alert between the support teams inside the company.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution’s timely automated triggers increase our IT team’s productivity."
"Its ease of use is fantastic. It is just above and beyond, especially when you compare it to something like Cherwell, Salesforce, or anything like that. It is on its own level. It is so easy to administer. The way everything is organized and the way it builds its own documentation is very good."
"We found the initial setup to be very simple."
"We find its ability to track what's going on with each request very valuable. We are also able to merge ticket requests and assign them to different groups in the company. We have another department that uses the same system."
"The portal is straightforward for the end-user, but that's not the best part of Freshservice. Integration is the part that's interesting because it's easy to set up a process. It's extremely simple to integrate. In one week, you can add change management. It's incredible."
"The most valuable feature is the sandbox, which allows me to test new configurations, automations, and workflows before taking them live on the production system."
"We use the ticketing system primarily, which is very easy to use for all users."
"It has reduced the time to look up who is responsible for a service, and it has reduced the time to finalize a service request because it now goes directly to the person who is responsible for the service in that location. So, a service request is handled quickly and directly by the person responsible for it."
"The alert calling feature is the best because notifications are delivered via phone messages."
"The flexible schedule is the most valuable feature. It was very easy to set out a rotation."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is helpdesk escalation."
"VictorOps has been good enough for us and it's effective for our needs in case of an on-call escalation process."
"Transmogrifier and automatic solution report gives me a report with the solution and the way to solve issues when an error occurred."

Cons

"They can improve the search. While searching the inventory, when I cancel a selected category, the search box disappears, and I have to reload the page. It is a small glitch. Currently, we can have only one plan per subscription. All users have to be on the same plan. We can't have two users for plan A and five users for plan B. It might be good if there was an option to have different plans within one subscription so that you can assign each agent to the corresponding plan."
"The reporting and management information (MI) are very limited, and stopped realistic and timely reporting on outstanding incidents."
"I am not too happy with the page layout or screen layout since it always looks messy."
"There are some limitations in reporting. For example, I would like to have a report of conversations or replies."
"I experienced some delay in response time for non-function critical queries."
"The analytics could be better."
"Freshservice has issues around how assets get picked up, requiring a lot of parameter changes within to network to ensure the system discovers everything."
"The chat portal is not that great."
"The third-party configuration tool could be easier to use."
"At that stage, all our needs are fulfilled, but at the beginning, we had some feature requests and they were deployed during their roadmap."
"The solution can be improved by including a wider list of permissions."
"Should have more YouTube webinars."
"There could be improvements with communicating an incident or alert."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution has an annual licensing model."
"It was a middle tier. It wasn't an expensive one. It was a tier model usage. Licensing costs varied between admin users and regular users."
"There are some additional costs but not that many. For example, we have unlimited assets, which is something for which we pay extra. We also paid for additional orchestration. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of pricing. They are right in the middle."
"Our licensing fee for Freshservice is $2,500 a year."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"I can't recall exactly how much we pay, but it is somewhere in the middle compared to the rest of the market. The more we purchase, the cheaper it becomes, and I think the solution offers good value for money."
"Freshservice is a fairly cheap solution. Though monthly payments can be made towards the licensing costs of the solution, my company prefers to make annual payments."
"The cost at the current timing is very reasonable but as the product gains popularity, I anticipate it might become expensive. Fortunately my customers have been offered a generous discount making it more affordable for me and satisfying both my needs and customers requirement."
"The price of the solution could be less expensive."
