We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"There are no issues that we are aware of. It does its job silently in the background.""The Inline Mode configuration works really well, and ASA works very impressively.""I like the IPS feature, it is the most valuable.""Firepower NGFW has improved my organization in several ways. Before, we were trying to stamp out security threats and issues, it was a one-off type of way to attack it. I spent a lot of manpower trying to track down the individual issues or flare-ups that we would see. With Cisco's Firepower Management, we're able to have that push up to basically one monitor and one UI and be able to track that and stop threats immediately. It also gives us a little more granularity on what those threats might be.""With the pandemic, people began working from home. That was a pretty big move, having all our users working from a home. More capacity needed to be added to our remote VPN. ASA did this very well.""They are easy to maintain.""When it comes to the integration among Cisco tools, we find it easy. It's a very practical integration with other components as well.""We find all of its features very useful. Its main features are policies and access lists. We use both of them, and we also use routing."

"Forcepoint is a good, stable solution.""It is stable and scalable. In addition, their support is great. When you ask them for something, they provide support, and if required, they also involve the R&D team to help you to resolve the issues in your configuration.""Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall is very simple, easy to use, and flexible.""Forcepoint's stability is satisfactory, for the most part.""I have found that Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall is easy to use, highly secure, and the main VPN tunnel is created automatically which is a benefit.""When comparing this solution to others this one has better reporting, user management, and is easy to use.""It is a stable solution, and there are no issues so far.""Technical support has been quite helpful in the past."

"The technical support on offer is very good.""Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is very stable. In addition, the provider gives notice of any changes well in advance, which is important for planning updates.""What I like about Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System is that it works okay. I don't have time to mess with the tool most of the time because I have way too many tasks to do, but Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System tells you when there's a problem, then it blocks the problem, so that's what I like most about it.""It integrates easily."

Cons
"Cisco is still catching up with its Firepower Next-Generation firewalls.""Setting firewall network rules should be more straightforward with a clearer graphical representation. The rule-setting method seems old-fashioned. The firewall and network rules are separate from the Firepower and web access rules.""The price can be better.""Cisco ASA Firewall could improve by adding more advanced features such as web filtering, which is available in the next-generation firewalls. However, the Cisco ASA Firewall I am using could be old and these features have been updated.""The stability is not the best.""I would like more features in conjunction with other solutions, like Fortinet.""If the implementation was easier, it would be a lot better for us.""Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall can be more secure."

More Cisco Secure Firewall Cons →

"Management could be better. They can improve the management. I think all our customers can't accept firewalls that have standalone management. So, they prefer Fortinet or Palo Alto. But overall, inspection and other features are working fine.""Its management center should be easier to use. The management interface of Forcepoint is unique and a little bit different from some of the firewall solutions on which people might have worked before. Sometimes, the customers say that it is not very friendly, and we help them with how to use this management interface. It just takes a little bit of time, and after some time, it gets easy to manage or use. It is quite similar to Palo Alto, Fortinet, and legacy Juniper solutions. Their support should be faster. We have received complaints that they are not responding fast, which is not good for the vendor and us.""The network interface could be better, and it could be cheaper.""I would like to see more sizing in the next release, and the roadmap should be clear.""The initial setup of the Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall has areas that are difficult.""Configuration is not easy because it has an old-fashioned interface. The configuration interface is highly complex, and it's been the same for years. They have to change the interface.""Forcepoint is a little difficult to configure compared to its competitors.""The ability to dynamically change policies could be improved."

More Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall Cons →

"I find Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System a bit clunky, and updating it can be a pain in the neck because you need to do it from time to time, so this is what needs to be improved in it. I would also rather have an all-in-one system that does intrusion detection, protection, web filtering, and also serves as a firewall, and my company is moving to an all-in-one solution, but I'm unsure of how soon that's going to be. Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System also doesn't have enough bandwidth to handle the required traffic within my company, so it's going to be replaced.""It integrates well but it takes time.""The solution is pretty expensive.""Trend Micro TippingPoint Threat Protection System needs strong Spanish-language support."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "They seem to be at the top end in terms of pricing, but they are worth the price. They are probably a little bit lower than Palo Alto. If the customers are relying on Cisco products and they are thinking more in terms of scaling to another layer in a year, it is pretty much in a good price range."
  • "We're using the smart license for this firewall. The models that we have require licensing for remote access."
  • "There are licensing costs."
  • "I just bought it off the shelf, and I'm using it with my previous one, so I have not spent that much."
  • "The price is fair. It's not the cheapest, but it's not bad."
  • "For me, personally, as an individual, Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall is expensive."
  • "The product is very expensive."
  • "This is an expensive product, although when you buy this solution, you can do many things so it provides good value for the investment."

  • "Everything in Forcepoint comes with an individual license, which is kind of a problem. In our last meeting, they said that it may change at the beginning of 2021, and they will try to merge some licenses together. Customers will get more features than what they got previously. We will wait and see."
  • "We have found the price could be reduced. It is a little expensive."
  • "The pricing of the solution is normally competitive with other products."
  • "The pricing should be more competitive against other vendors in the market."
  • "The cost is fair, but it could be improved."
  • "It could be cheaper like Fortinet."
  • "I consider Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall's price to be good."
  • "We have just a subscription for the cloud, and this license is great. The license is so good."
