The most valuable aspect of the solution is the comprehensive visibility it offers
The most valuable aspect of Field MDR is the comprehensive visibility the solution offers. Most solutions cover the traditional threat landscape for endpoints, including computers, endpoints, servers, etc. However, there are also risk within the network environment, such as WiFi, mobile, the Internet of Things, smart TVs, video surveillance systems, etc., that have associated vulnerabilities. These devices may not be actively managed or protected in most environments. Field Effect MDR gives you visibility across the entire ecosystem. With this broad visibility, you can significantly lower your operational risk. Field Effect has a team of high-quality security analysts reviewing the initial triage to determine whether an alert is actionable. They clear out the false positives and feed our security operation center actionable alerts. It lets us save time because we're only dealing with real issues instead of weeding out the false positives and wasting time. Managing Field Effect is straightforward. We have a good internal process to manage this. It's mainly about having some automation in place to streamline things and having some processes for keeping my software and third-party patching up to date. A lot of security alerts fall in those areas. It helps us identify issues quickly and lower the overall risk for our client rate. It groups alerts by risk levels. The nomenclature is straightforward and easy to understand. Our engineers and technicians are well-versed in the topic.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is easy to manage surveillance."
"We now have a single cybersecurity product that protects all of our threat services, and all the endpoints."
"One of the most useful and impressive features of the system is its detailed notification mechanism."
"A client of ours with Field Effect MDR is less likely to be a victim of a cyber attack."
"The most valuable aspects of Covalence for me are the exceptional customer service and the support from the dedicated team."
"Direct and easy and quick communication to the Field Effect cybersecurity team experts has led to quick resolution of any problems or alerts."
"The most valuable aspect of Field MDR is the comprehensive visibility the solution offers. Most solutions cover the traditional threat landscape of computers, endpoints, servers, etc. However, there are also things happening within the network environment, such as WiFi, mobile, the Internet of Things, smart TVs, video surveillance systems, etc., that have associated vulnerabilities. Most environments do not manage or protect these assets."
"The most valuable features are AROs, which provide timely notifications for out-of-compliance or out-of-specification detections."
"We can easily isolate affected machines in the network."
"There are some patent pending detectors within the platform that provides a lot of value."
"The solution definitely made us way more aware of the possibilities out there."
"The most valuable feature is the support. The support chat. It's always connecting to people. And you open the chat, and it's not about that automated response. It's actually a human being that responds to you."
"It provides more visibility and more control over endpoints. It reduces the noise. It clears things and only shows things that are really important. It only shows those things that need to be looked at or need to be investigated further. Other similar solutions give you a lot of alerts and other things, but Secureworks gives you a defined or less noisy view so that you can work or focus on things that are important in terms of investigation, response, and remediation."
"The most valuable features are IDS and IPS."
"We don't have a full SOC, so it's helpful to have them sifting through our alerts and only bringing actionable items to us."
"The initial setup was very straight forward."

Cons

"The ConnectWise PSA integration is two-way but does not send our comments back to the Field Effect portal."
"Field Effect Covalence could benefit from enhancing its packing slip process."
"I'd suggest that Field Effect focus more on including things like phishing simulation and cybersecurity training."
"The cost of the solution has room for improvement."
"I would like Covalence to implement patch management as well."
"There are tags for security threats, but I only view them. I do not action anything. I just see what is happening. Sometimes, they are a little bit vague, and I am unsure what they mean, so I leave that to the IT experts. Overall, we are quite satisfied with their product and how it is working."
"I have had a couple of challenges around updates to the agents where it seems it doesn't automatically replace older versions."
"The tagging of ARO closure has room for improvement."
"The deployment could definitely be improved."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see file integrity monitoring."
"Dell Secureworks could improve its integration with other third-party solutions."
"Dell Secureworks is for higher-end customers and it's not quite as straightforward to implement or to get up and running as some of the other solutions."
"It would be nice if the solution were a little more affordable."
"The integration would look better with other products, with other EDRs, with other firewalls, with other older versions of firewalls, and the versions of software and hardware."
"This solution could be improved with a higher degree of automation such as automated emails, triggers and defining the severity of the cases."
"In terms of ROI, I'd be surprised if there is any investment return on the SIM."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing model itself is solid, but we're ironing out some inconsistencies in how customer profiles are configured."
"We're currently enrolled in the volume package, which offers tiered pricing based on usage."
"Field Effect Covalence's pricing is just right."
"The pricing is fair and reasonable."
"The pricing isn't sized, so Field Effect doesn't make it easy for anything under 25 users. I'm not crazy about that."
"It is a little pricey. It is a little on the high end, but we are continuing to use it. We signed the contract and have not canceled, so we find value in having it."
"Although Covalence is expensive, it provides good value for the price."
"The cost of the solution is high."
"It is expensive but there is no better product than this."
"The Red Cloak agent is free."
"The pricing of Dell Secureworks is very reasonable."
"The pricing for this solution is reasonable. One agent costs approximately 270 dirhams/70 USD for one year. There is a reduction in cost per licence as the number of licences used increases."
"Secureworks Taegis ManagedXDR is very expensive and could be more cost-effective."
"Initially, the cost was going to be something around $160 or $170. And eventually, I think they brought it down to $110 and they also threw in some endpoint protection platforms."
"The price is kind of on par. The licensing was comparable to other solutions. It's not particularly high or low."
