Easy to configure and blocks bot attacks for web users
The solution is deployed on the F5 cloud. The solution's real-time analytics help you see what has been blocked. It helps to see whether the attack category was an automation attack or a fake browser. F5 Shape Security has a normal dashboard. We are doing F5 Shape Security migrations for 30 customers. F5 Shape Security uses Javascript. For a lot of competitors, the Javascript can be reverse-engineered by attackers to bypass the protection. F5 Shape Security has machine learning authentication of the Java script. If you had hacked it, the encryption would have been changed. It's really hard for attackers to reverse engineer the F5 Shape Security JavaScript. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Advanced protection has optimized web and API performance while reducing infrastructure costs
From the features perspective and functionality-wise, there are areas of Radware DDoS that I would like to see improved or enhanced in the future. Version upgrades are being provided, but they should communicate with clients about these new features being available so clients can test them and deploy them on the disaster recovery system before moving to the live segment. There should be a test report that will provide confidence that the version is stable and everything will work properly. Last time we faced an issue with a version upgrade, and we faced extensive troubleshooting with littile bit more time in the troubleshooting process. It turned out to be a small issue that was resolved by the engineering team. I would like to see improved support from Radware DDoS. Sometimes in support, we have to log the call with their support partners rather than Radware. After ten years of experience, we know exactly what the issue is, and we understand that it cannot be handled by their support channel or partner level. Radware team always asks us to go through the partners, but sometimes we have found that the issue cannot be handled by the partners. After the partners fail to resolve the issue, it goes to the Radware team. At that time, one to two days of required timeline gets increased by one to two days. If Radware came into immediate action and resolved the issue rather than relying on their service partners, it would be better. After ten years, we have the knowledge of troubleshooting, and we understand that the issues we are facing with Radware can only be resolved by their team. However, due to their policy, they insist we move through the partner first, and only after the partner fails do they escalate to Radware. During that troubleshooting period of twenty-four to forty-eight hours, we remain in an unresolved state with the reported issue.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of the solution is the ease of configuration."
"F5 Shape Security's most valuable feature is performance."
"Radware DDoS is excellent in its current state."
"The most valuable feature is the controller that determines when and how traffic can be moved to the cloud."
"Radware DDoS's behavior-based detection technology is the best thing I have, as I do not need to worry about any new forms of attack that are not pre-configured for filtering because it can create its own signatures based on the quota values I set for each protocol."
"Radware DDoS has impacted my organization positively by providing robust DDoS protection, offering excellent security and support, and serving as an effective solution that detects attacks and mitigates them, which has allowed us to concentrate on other areas."
"My advice or recommendation to other organizations looking into Radware DDoS is to use it because it is very user-friendly, and we have suggested it multiple times to colleagues and friends due to its comprehensive monitoring capabilities."
"Zero-day protection happens automatically because the initial steps only require us to create the policy for filtering, but after that, it continuously does its job without any manual intervention."
"The initial setup is not complex; it's very straightforward and very easy, and the configuration process, as well, is excellent and very straightforward so a company shouldn't face any issues when they are implementing the solution."
"Radware DefensePro is one of the best solutions for on-premise protection."

Cons

"I want the solution's custom exclusion rules to be more granular."
"The tool's price is high."
"The solution needs to improve its communication with users."
"If they would go to a cloud-based approach, that would give much more flexibility in terms of working with them."
"I think the ease of use of the Radware DDoS interface requires a bit more advanced knowledge, and there are applications that are much more intuitive."
"I am satisfied with the solution, but improvements in reporting, customization, and dashboard flexibility would add more value."
"Radware DefensePro requires a continuous learning process. Using this technology, we can improve our network. Based on the different attack mechanisms, we use Radware DefensePro to provide security for our clients' networks very effectively."
"There needs to be more reporting."
"I believe Radware DDoS could be improved for cloud deployments with more granular controls that could provide valuable gains for the company, especially by verifying whether the client is genuine or not with additional metrics."
"They need to increase the limit of devices that we can manage (currently it is 100). I manage a huge network and I am forced to use two and this is very uncomfortable."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is moderately priced."
"Radware's switch to a pay-as-you-go model last year provides great flexibility."
"The price varies by use case and there are monthly and annual licensing options. If you deploy on-premise, there is an annual license with the amount dependent on the throughput you need and which features you will be using - i.e. IPS, behavioral, etc."
"It is expensive. I would rate it a seven out of ten for pricing."
"The Radware DefensePro was bundled together with our security platform."
"It is not expensive. It is medium range. The pricing is good, as we recently renewed our licenses from Radware."
"Radware DefensePro is expensive when considering the issue we have and its limitations."
"I rate Radware DefenseFlow's pricing an eight out of ten."
"Licensing of Radware is quite simple and straightforward, while Arbor DDos is a bit complicated."
