Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
"The feature that I like to most is unified management in a multitenant environment, where we can manage all our customers with thousands of devices (routers, switches, VPNs, and APs).""Integrated Firewall in every AP (with DPI inspection) is a killer feature and it is included already in the price of licence (with others, this feature is an add-on licence).""What our customers like the most is that this device is so rugged. It has very good performance and throughput. Its console is very easy to use and has many features, which makes it different from its competitors. Cloud IQ has all the features built into the console, whereas other solutions require you to integrate multiple solutions with their consoles. You don't need to add anything extra with Cloud IQ. With this single solution, you can do almost everything.""It is more cost effective and gives more flexibility.""Our transaction polling is now way more secure.""I like ExtremeCloud IQ's unified single-pane-of-glass dashboard. It offers a lot of visibility of performance, and it's great for troubleshooting. You don't have to go to 55 different places. You can get the information you need with just a few clicks.""Its configuration and deployment are the most valuable.""The cloud-based controller through HiveManager is its most valuable feature. I can manage and configure changes to my access points from anywhere."

"The product greatly improved our organization in terms of making configuration, deployment, and firmware upgrades easy for multiple automated devices.""The most valuable feature of Juniper Mist Wired Assurance is zero-touch provisioning for query edge switches. You can connect the switch directly to your edge locations and then directly onboard, similar to the Cisco Meraki solutions."

"Their firewall configuration gets funky and it can be difficult to understand.""The solution's performance needs to be enhanced because of a very high delay.""A room for improvement in ExtremeCloud IQ is roaming. My team is facing roaming issues with the solution, particularly when using VoIP over WiFi. For example, VoIP sometimes breaks when you walk around the customer site. In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of the solution, right now, the inventory for ExtremeCloud IQ is awful. There's no stock, and you must wait a year and a half for new stocks. It's awful.""We have had some mediocre to poor experiences with tech support: Conflicting information, condescending attitudes, and reluctance to work to resolve an issue.""An area for improvement in ExtremeCloud IQ is its technical support. Support could be better, especially when you need help concerning ExtremeCloud IQ and WinG.""Pricing is a bit expensive.""Having a wizard for customers who are just starting might be helpful.""The solution will show us that there are some issues, but when we try to find those issues, we can't see them."

"The configuration aspect of the solutions is relatively new, but I have had positive experiences. However, for more advanced tasks, such as VXLANs on the EX platform, Juniper Mist Wired Assurance may not be the best option due to certain limitations. Nonetheless, it does have a CLI override feature for specialized configurations that cannot be done through the GUI.""The platform’s monitoring tool is not up to the mark. It is not proactive enough and lacks some capabilities. Additionally, they should work on providing integration with other vendors."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Although the pricing is a bit high, I consider Aerohive to be well worth the money."
  • "Buy near the end of Q4 in order to get a deal."
  • "Bring the cost down."
  • "I would advise that you be sure to compare apples with apples. Many customers just look at the price per AP and licences, and compare that against other solutions. But, they do not look at the complete picture such as: TCO - how much the equipment will cost you over, say, seven years? Will the customer need to change complete infrastructure when they want to buy the newest hardware? Does support include a lifetime warranty and RMA?"
  • "For example, if you compare Aruba vs Aerohive, you need to check which licences from Aruba you need to match the functionality of Aerohive (usually you need at least three types of licences and a controller with redundancy). The same goes with Cisco, where you need buy additional licences for central management, firewall, spectral analysis, WIPS, PPSK, etc. Aerohive has a very simple model - one licence for all the functionalities - and you can believe that there are many. One licence makes it easy to maintain, scale, renew and you can plan your costs 10 years in advance."
  • "Start small and grow big. You can choose the basic Aerohive Connect free subscription solution and, later, if needed (in terms of functionality) you can upgrade to Aerohive Select."
  • "There are probably cheaper solutions but we invest for stability and performance for the longer haul."
  • "I did a multi-year license. It was a three-year license. It compares well with others in terms of the price. It is about a hundred dollars per year on a three-year scale."
