Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Provides reliable and comprehensive internet security solutions without significant system slowdowns
My organization uses ESET Inspect for antivirus and internet security on laptops and desktops. On the enterprise side, we utilize it on our Windows Server.  The platform has improved our organization's security by providing comprehensive antivirus and internet security solutions. It is fast and…

Advanced threat prevention has strengthened incident response and customized security workflows
The biggest advantage of Trellix Endpoint Security Platform is the ATP solution, which provides advanced threat prevention. Machine learning algorithms are available in the product as part of the threat anti-malware, including predictive machine learning and behavioral analysis, which are integral to the anti-malware module of EPP. In terms of my experience with the machine learning algorithms for analysis and threat detection, we are analyzing logs provided by Trellix, but we are not able to conduct specific machine learning analysis on those logs. The automated response mechanisms in the products help with incident management because we have to create playbooks in Trellix console for automation, which we need to enable. The customizable dashboard of Trellix Endpoint Security Platform definitely contributes to the decision-making process, as we customize the dashboard according to customer requirements. When it comes to integration aspects, we are able to integrate Trellix Endpoint Security Platform with SIEM or SOAR solutions using the ePO console, which enhances threat detection capabilities. Reporting and analytics aspects have an impact on security posture assessment, as we are able to fetch reports in the ePO console customized according to customer requirements for downloading and sending via email.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The tool's use cases are relevant to security."
"Based on my experience, I would recommend Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks to other people."
"The stability of the solution is very good. We have about 100 users on it right now, and we use it twice a week."
"Implementing Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks has had a significant impact on my security analyst workload because it becomes much easier."
"The solution is a new generation XDR that has a lot of artificial intelligence modules."
"Cortex XDR features advanced threat detection capabilities."
"Automation and playbooks have helped me significantly, as Cortex Xnor's playbooks predefine the workflow of the automation, such as response processes, alert triggering, and enriching the context, efficiently detecting and blocking malicious attacks with firewalls while eliminating workload and speeding responses for next-generation operations."
"We've had a significant increase in blocking with a decrease in false positives, because it's looking at how the files work, not just a list of files that it's been told to look for."
"The product's most valuable features are its performance and stability."
"Rules are the most valuable feature of ESET Inspect. They are created through XML language, and they track and filter events from endpoints. If the event matches the rule, the rule is triggered. Exceptions are the second most valuable feature because it gives you the power to filter false positives in large numbers. The third most valuable feature is the Learning mode that facilitates making exceptions for known processes with a good reputation."
"ESET Enterprise Inspector's greatest asset lies in its user-friendly interface, which allows for easy navigation and thorough analysis of incidents."
"The rules are the best and most useful features."
"ESET Enterprise Inspector's most valuable feature is EDR."
"Scalability-wise, it is a very good solution."
"I find the multilayered endpoint security the most valuable feature."
"McAfee Complete Endpoint Protection has helped us to enforce that mandate, protecting both staff and patient information data."
"I personally really like what the folks at Intel did when creating the Endpoint Protection Suites."
"It is scalable and stable and the initial setup is the easiest part of using the product."
"The most valuable feature is the integration between environments."
"Provides protection against threats."
"We can manage everything from the central console and it is very easy."
"I think the costing is fine compared to other products. Cost-wise you definitely get value for your money."
"If the network has seen something, we can use that to put a block to all the endpoints."

Cons

"It's more focused on network communication. If a customer wants to increase the level of protection and start working with documents, it's impossible to integrate these features into the system. It's more of a communication-oriented system than a content security-oriented system."
"While using Cortex, I noticed some aspects that could be improved, such as increasing the synchronization speed between XDR and Xnor."
"It should support more mobile operating systems. That is one of the cons of their infrastructure right now."
"They have the worst support, as a company, that I have ever worked with, as they are difficult to get a hold of and keep on the phone. They don't know what they are talking about when you get them on the phone. They don't like to respond to messages when you send them to them. They like to "research problems" for weeks on end, then pass you off to somebody else."
"In the next release, I would like to see more UI improvements. Their UI is a bit basic. When we are speaking about Palo Alto Networks they are the big company, so they can improve the UI a little bit. The UI, the reports, the log system can all be improved."
"The product's pricing needs improvement. They could provide more discounts. Additionally, the dashboard and control panel could be enhanced."
"The tool needs to be improved in terms of integration and interface."
"Cortex XDR could be improved with more GUI features."
"It may be difficult for a first-time customer to understand all of the functions that are available to him."
"The platform's price could be better."
"The product is complex to configure, and there are too many errors that are not errors, making it an area that can be considered for improvement."
"One area that needs improvement for the product is ransomware protection, which does not offer complete security."
"Every vendor is working on making the job of SOC analysts easier, with fewer false positives and more precise detections. ESET uses LiveGrid technology that provides feedback on the reputation of files and operations. It's hard to eliminate all of the false positives, but hopefully, we'll see some improvement with the advances in AI."
"It is not a stable product. We were disappointed in the stability of this product in comparison to McAffee."
"The solution could improve the consumption of resources. The RAM and CPU usage increases during usage which can cause issues. We have three separate services and it would be beneficial if all were executed from one agent limiting the over usage of system resources."
"The product could be flexible and offer better pricing."
"The VirusScan needs to improve in order to detect ransomware and other advanced threats."
"The agent is very heavy, so we have to ensure that we have a lightweight agent for Windows systems."
"One suggestion is they should reduce the constant notifications. Whenever I open my laptop, there are too many notifications from McAfee, and it gets annoying."
"It would be nice if the solution were to allow not just on-cloud management, but on-premises, as well."
"Tech support is not as helpful as they were in the past."
"Users can just install software into their computers. We need some sort of application control system that, if there are any pieces of software that are not whitelisted, then the solution could flag it or maybe alert the administers. That would be very helpful."
"There are a few areas where Trellix Endpoint Security can improve. Firstly, the high CPU utilization when agents are installed can negatively impact client systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is quite an expensive solution."
"The cost of Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is $55 to $90 USD per endpoint per month."
"This is an expensive solution."
"The tool's price is moderate."
"The cost depends on your chosen license type, like Pro or other licenses."
"Cortex XDR’s pricing is very reasonable."
"Cortex XDR is a costly solution."
"Every customer has to pay for a license because it doesn't work with what you get from a managed services provider."
"This is true in the case of licensing, we do not have the most expensive products, and we don't have the cheapest product, it's somewhere in the middle. Perhaps a little higher from the middle, but we are known for what we provide to our customers, and they are pleased."
"The platform's licensing is affordable and straightforward."
"The platform is expensive; it could be cheaper."
"I feel it is a very expensive product."
"The pricing and licensing are the big issue now, in my opinion. If the price was less than other companies, or a one-time charge for service was available, I think there would be more users of this solution."
"When comparing the solution to others it is a bit expensive. We are on a monthly license."
"MVISION is intended as an enterprise product and it is priced like one. This solution is within the price range of competitors at the enterprise level."
"The pricing is great and licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis."
"There's a subscription on a yearly basis. It's not that expensive; it's quite affordable."
"We pay 650 Rand for a license. It is a perpetual license which we normally run for two years."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"I do licensing on an annual basis and this is what I always recommend to my clients over the monthly option."
"McAfee's prices are flexible and can be quite competitive, although there are other solutions that are even more so."
