We get improved visibility and excellent support but require better detection of custom data
Reduction in the attack surface is the main benefit. We have not worked with it much yet, but so far, it has been good. It can be improved a bit more in the future, but so far, we have just scratched the surface with Entro Security. Entro Security has helped develop a better culture among developers. They are willing and starting to use something called Vault to store credentials, and they even do it without us telling them. In the past, they used to post everything like in ClearText, whereas now, they are voluntarily migrating the information to Vault. I am pretty sure it is because Entro Security is also annoying them. Every time there is a finding, we ping them via Slack. The ping comes from Entro itself. They do not want to be bothered by messages. They do not want to be seen as a bad employee, so they are using it on their own. It is not hard for us to establish behavioral baselines for non-human identities (NHI) in Entro Security. It is important that Entro Security’s detection and mitigation of NHI threats is done in real-time. It is becoming a worldwide issue, not only in our company. So many companies are trying to solve this issue where developers are posting credentials in plain text. It is of very high priority. It is not critical, but it is highly important. Entro Security has improved visibility, revealing the extent of our credential issues, where strong credentials like admin accounts were found in plaintext in numerous projects. We have more visibility and control. We got to know that the issue was much bigger than we thought. We thought that only one out of ten projects would have some kind of password, but we found more than five to seven projects having plain text credentials. The credentials stored were of strong accounts. They had put admin account information in plain text. We did not think it would be this severe. We thought that, at worst, they would be some maintainer credentials, but they were using full admin credentials in their code and had put them just in plain text. Entro Security has helped improve our organization’s security posture. Entro Security has decreased our exposure to risk. It reduces exposure from the inside, not from the outside.

Centralized control has strengthened privileged security and simplified audit investigations
While One Identity Safeguard is a strong and reliable PAM solution, there are a few areas where it can be further improved to enhance user experience and scalability. Regarding the user interface and experience, the UI, while functional, can be a bit complex for new users. A more intuitive and modern dashboard with simplified navigation would improve adoption, especially for non-technical stakeholders. Regarding integration flexibility, although it supports major integrations, expanding out-of-the-box connectors for more cloud-native apps, DevOps tools, and SaaS platforms would be beneficial. Faster and simpler API-based integrations could reduce deployment efforts. Regarding scalability and performance in large enterprise environments, performance tuning and scaling can require additional efforts. Enhancing seamless scalability and high availability configuration would improve enterprise readiness.

"The top features of Entro Security that stand out are its ease of onboarding and discovery."
"Entro Security has helped develop a better culture among developers."
"I like that One Identity Safeguard lets you configure the maximum number of connections to the target, a configuration I didn't find in its competitor."
"One Identity Safeguard has positively impacted our organization by contributing to a significant drop in compliance and audit overhead, aiding in the preparation of security audits that were previously chaotic, making the process much simpler now, and improving operational efficiency and admin satisfaction."
"There is ease of implementation. Compared to other PAM solutions, it is easy to implement and use from an administrator's point of view."
"One Identity Safeguard has impacted our organization positively because it has helped us standardize how privileged access is managed and has also reduced dependency on manual efforts in password handling, improving operational control overall."
"Two-factor authentication has saved us from a couple of brute force attacks on a couple of our C-level executives."
"We are very pleased with the Safeguard platform feature."
"From my experience, the features are best for monitoring and the usage of LDAP and SSH."
"One Identity Safeguard makes password manageability easy and helps us monitor and reduce manual tasks such as auditing and improving log visibility, while also providing compliance-based reporting for our upper management."

Cons

"Entro Security could benefit from improvements in IAM control to allow segregation of duties among developers."
"The detection of generic content or custom data specific to our company needs improvement. It has trouble detecting unique patterns of secrets."
"From a usability perspective, what we are finding out is that our privileged domain admin users, in particular, want functionality for extending a checkout session. So we are working with One Identity support to see if there's an enhancement that can be made to the product."
"We currently have a problem with the Active Directory integrations on Windows. Some of our users need to be logged with Active Directory, but we are having communication issues between One Identity and Active Directory. It seems that Active Directory is not well-integrated."
"I rated One Identity Safeguard nine out of 10 because the stability and control could be better, as there are some problems with stability and errors when we use it."
"I think the aspects that could be improved in One Identity Safeguard include the learning curve, since the installation is complex and expert guidance is required in the first steps."
"One Identity Safeguard could be improved by providing a unified management experience, as historically it has been split into logical units, and it would be beneficial if they could provide out-of-the-box reports and visualization, addressing the high resource overhead for privileged analytics."
"The user interface can be improved for better searching of user accounts, and if One Identity enhances its support in that area, it would be very helpful."
"We would like to have the option of importing assets by using the CSV file. It was available in the earlier versions, but it is not available now."
"One Identity Safeguard could be improved by simplifying the user interface and initial configuration process, especially for first-time users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It is cheaper than CyberArk. Its price is fair."
"Safeguard is cheaper than CyberArk."
"The pricing is about $80,000 per 100 servers. There are few elective costs."
"Its subscription cost is too much, and sometimes, it is very difficult to pitch the solution to the management for cost approval. If the cost is reduced a little bit, it would be easier. If its cost was less, many other organizations that currently cannot afford it would be able to use this technology. I'm sure many organizations around the globe are having issues with identity management, and it is a very difficult task for IT to manage privileged accounts."
"They have comparable pricing. All identity products are essentially priced in a similar way. It's a per-user base."
"As compared to other products, it is reasonable, but the training sessions are too expensive."
"The license is very expensive for us, partly due to inflation and partly because of the exchange rate between the Dollar and the Iranian Rial. We purchased a perpetual license that we've been using up until now, but I believe that we are not going to update it in the future. Instead, we plan to find another third-party to support us with the license, in the sense that we would have access to their license as a shared agreement."
"The full license is expensive but if you plan to use it in a big organization then it is the best option because it is more flexible."
