Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"From a small firm perspective, Egnyte Connect is simple, it is easy to get users up and running the same day, and I have nothing negative to say about the software. I can't speak to how Egnyte Connect would operate in a midsize company or even a large Fortune 500 company, but, from our perspective as a small business, it is fantastic.""You can really do a lot of cool things with it in terms of being able to co-author and share documents with users that are not in your organization.""It provides a way to granularly choose which folders from the internet you want to sync to your computer. It is really useful for people who are working on teams that are working with files that are frequently changing. You can go in and pretty clearly see what changes have been made. It gives you a constant feed.""It's easy to move files around, even to, for example, SharePoint.""Egnyte Connect is a great application to save files.""It is scalable and stable.""It is a good storage solution."

"The software is friendly to use for mixing data and analyzing it.""Document management and records management features are the most valuable.""The most valuable aspect of the solution is the fact that it doesn't require coding. You just need to configure it. You don't need to code before getting something running. It makes it very fast.""The solution is scalable. You can do both horizontal and vertical scaling.""Ability to collaborate with others in one location.""The implementation and configuring of the resolution are very easy in the online version.""The collaboration, the ability for multiple users to work on a single document.""The forms aspect of the solution, for example, the creation of surveys, is its most valuable aspect."

Cons
"The issue of my authorization token expiring pretty quickly was pretty annoying. On pretty much every update, it would expire on every computer. On every computer update, at the first opportunity, it would expire. When my computer got updated or the authorization got cut, my saved drives would get messed up. So, I had to reconnect them all. I was never able to set up a useful drive system with my local computer with Egnyte Connect. It would be a big improvement if there was a cached system so that when it loses connection, it can still save what kind of connections were set up, and when it reconnects, it repopulates all those. I don't know if that's even possible, but that's the feature I'd want.""As of right now, I have everything that I and my team need.""You cannot delete a file when you have uploaded it in error.""Before, when we were starting to use Egnyte, we were struggling with a lot of bugs with Egnyte desktop sync.""It would be nice to see an integration of using an active directory to validate and authenticate users on our end as well as on the client user's end.""If this solution had a better ability to search, that would be helpful. In addition, if there was an ability to collaborate, that would also be a benefit. At present, the vision control is had because if someone gets out of it, it locks. And, whoever saves last overrides everyone's work."

More Egnyte Cons →

"The product could be improved by accommodating different technologies, particularly integration.""This solution is not very stable. It is useful to arrange data but it's not the best for big data. Sometimes we have issues with our reports as a result.""The product is behind in development and lacks some features.""The solution needs to be more collaborative. I believe they are just coming up with the themes for this right now.""The permission management features need improvement.""I would like to see the integration with Teams reinforced.""I think these tools do a pretty good job. There is only one area of improvement. Maybe Microsoft can invest a little bit more into the ease at which integration can be done with other third party applications.""I would like to see more Agile techniques and seamless integration with other applications."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I do not have experience with the pricing of this solution."
  • "As far as I understand, licenses are associated with the Egnyte platform. There aren't any licenses associated with Egnyte Connect."
  • More Egnyte Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "One of the reasons why we don't recommend the cloud version of SharePoint is the cost. With the on premise version, you pay for the license once. For the cloud version, there is a recurring fee. It is very expensive. They expect everyone to pay $20 or $30 per user per month."
  • "There are some aggressive discounts offered by Microsoft for organizations that are not for profit, which we are, and it makes it quite attractive to consider."
  • "Pricing plans may be flexible depending on volume usage and your corporate relationship with Microsoft."
  • "It can be expensive for on-premises deployments, especially when you have to support SQL Server as your backend database. That's where the cost comes into play. SQL Server has its own licensing, which Microsoft keeps on changing. Therefore, it can become costly. In the earlier versions of SharePoint, version 2007 or 2010, they had an express version where the SQL Server licensing was free. It wasn't like a full-blown SharePoint. It was only a slimmed-down version. It used to be whatever your hardware costs. You would install the free software and work with it, but you were very limited in what you could do in SharePoint. If you wanted the SharePoint Enterprise Server with all the bells and whistles, then you had to pay more to get the SQL Server license based on the number of users or servers. The subscription model is different for cloud deployments. Licensing is per user and per month. The cost also depends on the storage required. If you have a lot of sites or documents, then you need to expand it based on your needs."

    Overview
Egnyte is a hybrid cloud storage service that provides online file sharing, file transfer, and cross-office syncing solutions to small, medium, and large businesses. The company specializes in providing businesses with customizable solutions using both cloud-only technology and local storage. Businesses using Egnyte's services benefit from increased efficiency, reliable security, and removal of communication barriers. Egnyte, like many of its competitors, features customizable services that help businesses stay organized and productive while maintaining a high level of security. In order to provide uninterrupted levels of security, Egnyte only allows access to files though certificate-based trusted devices via a two-step login verification process. Egnyte offers businesses control over its services with the ability to monitor use and access information through a single, user-friendly control panel, which is accessible in any web browser. The Egnyte platform is able to integrate with local storage, providing businesses with the option of using cloud-based storage or local devices, depending upon security preferences. Companies with satellite locations or remote employees benefit from Egnyte's flexible deployment models, scalable file sharing, and high speed collaboration capabilities regardless of changes in bandwidth limitations across locations. Additionally, Egnyte's platform makes use of hybrid storage synchronization, which reduces bandwidth saturation and increases performance. Egnyte appeals to growing businesses because it offers customizable services and flexible file sharing solutions. Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby's International Realty, with over 275 agents and employees spread throughout the Atlanta metro area, was struggling to increase the efficiency of staff communication. After working with Egnyte, Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby's International Realty was able to develop a hybrid file sharing infrastructure that allowed for the syncing and sharing of large files, protection of confidential information, and a reduction in bandwidth use.
