We performed a comparison between Eggplant Test and SOTI MobiControl based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Tricentis, OpenText, Katalon Studio and others in Test Automation Tools."Everything is happening on the layout or display that is used by the user. Eggplant prompts processes, like 'click here,' or 'look for this image.' Eggplant makes it possible for QA people and BAs, working in the actual display, to check if the software is providing the right images, the right text, and the right results. They don't have to go inside the code or to the TCP/IP layer. Everything is happening at the highest level."
"It provides very strong cross-platform support."
"The solution is based on a Windows model, where adding users is just a few clicks. It is easy to manage users and add them."
"We are able to now automate tests, which so far have been manual."
"GUI testing is the strength of the tool. The tool works as expected, and the support response from eggPlant, as a company, has been quick and substantial."
"The most valuable features would be the image recognition and the OCR."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to create code from a flow chart, and then run the code through it."
"The features that we like the most are the developer interface and the ability to quickly develop and deploy tests."
"The initial setup is straightforward."
"We can do auto patch updates using SOTI. SOTI has been well placed in terms of the number of endpoints it can handle."
"The keywords menu is better than other MDM. They have an Out of Contact policy, which other MDMs don't have."
"The most valuable features are remote control, remote monitoring of the mobile phone data, GPS localization, automobile network management, identity management, speaker logging, and remote management of mobile content."
"It's been very stable over the past few years."
"The licensing is simple."
"One of the most valuable features is the ability to deploy apps on the fly. We're able to update and deploy new applications, directly from the cloud. That's been a huge feature for us. Instead of putting hands on each of these devices - and we're talking thousands of devices - we can manage it all from the backend."
"The most valuable features are remote control and geo-fencing."
"The language is too specific; it is just for Eggplant."
"Its performance and stability could be better."
"Eggplant Digital Automation Intelligence could improve by lowering the price."
"The reporting function is a bit shallow. The solution does not offer very comprehensive reporting in terms of your test results. The reporting time and the logs are very high level as well. These areas need improvement."
"A step forward would be to have event support, because it is more or less linear at the moment."
"The solution would crash from time to time."
"There was no free trial in it."
"I would like to see standardized actions already built into Eggplant. For example, "wait eight seconds". That way, I wouldn't need to create it as an action. Right now, I have to program that wait and describe it as an action so that everybody knows it is an action that waits eight seconds... That way, somebody who is not familiar with programming processes like "if-else", or "for", or "while", would be able, from the first moment, and without programming, to put some easy-to-use, standardized, actions in place."
"The previous version, for example, had the networking signal and that feature was great. When we were troubleshooting, we could find the level of the network I/O. If the worker was working in a corner of the warehouse where the signal was not as strong as in another part of the warehouse, we could tell, "Just move a little and you will have coverage for your device." That was great. I don't know why they removed it from the newer version."
"Where they need improvement is not as much on the technical side but, rather, on their communication. In general, that has been poor. Account management and communication could be greatly improved..."
"Reporting could be better. When I try to run a report, it doesn't have a filter or even a feature where I can choose what I have in the report. That's been a struggle since the first time I used it so I just don't touch it anymore."
"There is room for improvement when it comes to the ability to customize devices and choosing what information goes onto them."
"For the most part, the application deployment works well. Occasionally, when moving a gun, we'll see that we have to manually intervene, when working with the setup."
"The quality of the support service is poor. The headquarters are not very responsive. And, the actual quality of the software has its drawbacks."
"They could make it easier to configure. While setting it up from scratch, I find many networking issues, and I have to call our network people for them, but our network people don't understand. It's a nightmare to try to communicate to them that this port needs to be open, or this needs to be opened here or there. Networking people are very security conscious, and they're wary of doing anything. So, if you can't tell them exactly why they need to do something, they get really paranoid. SOTI could do a better job of making the configuration of their software easier to understand and more clear. The prerequisites should be clear. They should clearly specify what is required to get this software working. There should be a list of prerequisites that is easier to understand and trust."
"Improving the reporting section would be beneficial for enhancing the product's overall functionality."
