Has supported seamless integration and offers fast implementation
This needs to be checked for the most valuable features in Dell PowerFlex for data management. It is more stable, more powerful, and has more integration features. The scalability is very good and is one of the key features of Dell PowerFlex. Its flexibility and scalability are the main reasons we can use Dell PowerFlex.

Enforces standardized setup procedures following Certified Validated Design (CVD) guidelines and offers greater flexibility and control over the system compared to traditional systems
The GUI setup follows the right setup, meaning we have to follow the CVDi.e. Certified Validated Design. Everything is clear, because you can build CI yourself, but without rules, it can be messy. With FlexPod, there are rules to follow, making it more standardized. This helps with troubleshooting and compatibility assessments, simplifying troubleshooting significantly. We also use FlexPod pre-validated architectures to validate the design. It is very, very important to us because we had a bad case in 2015 where separate items integrated poorly due to no version or firmware compatibility certification. Troubleshooting became a nightmare. So, standards are crucial for us, and everything entering production should be verified or at least documented for certification.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution was connected to alternate storage, and it provides great scalability and reliability."
"The support is highly responsive."
"Dell PowerFlex is a highly scalable solution."
"The technical support for this solution is pretty good."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is integration."
"The solution has the benefits of any hyper-converged infrastructure but also has good hardware integration."
"The solution is scalable."
"The most valuable feature is high availability."
"That it works. That it does exactly what it says on the tin."
"The most valuable feature are probably the inter-app ability that it offers; knowing that everything is compatible; and the validated designs that we get with that."
"There are very many features, but from experience, the single point of contact for support has been valuable to our customers."
"As I’ve mentioned, given what we were dealing with before, integrating with Cisco and NetApp storage, the marriage between those two companies, they came up with a perfect solution that is pretty modular and flexible."
"Technical support has been very helpful, and also very polite."
"The consistent delivery that we receive from the products. We deliver it to different customers, and we know it will be a consistent end-to-end solution as well."
"Using FlexPod has been simpler than adding in another vendor."
"For the management side of our UCS, it is a single pane of glass for multiple people, whether it is data center, sysadmin, or server deployment."

Cons

"For customers with a budget, it is a ten out of ten for the product, though it becomes challenging for those with mid or low budgets since it is very costly compared to other solutions such as PowerStore."
"The installation is complex."
"We've had some issues around the licensing. There were some issues in terms of using the VMware license."
"I recommend adding some more monitoring tools."
"I think there might be some room for improvement when it comes to pricing because although I know how to convert customers, at the end of the day, it's quite expensive."
"I am not really impressed by the technical support of this solution. The product really needs better and more support."
"Exporting data from the dashboard is not very user-friendly. It's just designed in a way that it's going to cover let's say 90%, 80%, of the end-users needs. If you need more sophisticated reporting it's not easy to have."
"The installation is complex."
"With the next solution, if there is a virtual Flex part where we can deploy it to private clouds or in public clouds rather tying up the hardware, it would reduce costs and complexity. Then, we could do a lot more automation."
"We would like to have more monitoring and reporting, because today some of the reporting, and if you purchase it separately is expensive. We use OnCommand Unified Manager today, which is great, but we are looking for more of that."
"The solution could be improved by including automation for user updates."
"Some of the newer storage vendors have slightly easier-to-use GUI interfaces, but I weigh that compared to the control and other features I have, such as SSHing into my NetApps."
"Unified management would be really nice, having one a single pane of glass to manage everything do with the solution."
"I would like more support for different platforms, possibly different database platforms."
"Both NetApp and Cisco need to do improvements in their day-to-day operations management upgrades."
"A couple things could be improved, for example, the interconnect switching. They need to be more flexible."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the price as eight and a half. The tool is expensive."
"The solution is expensive and I give the cost a two out of ten."
"The product is expensive."
"The pricing for this solution is good."
"The solution's price is medium."
"The cost of this solution is fair."
"I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"From my perspective, pricing is expensive. If they can reduce the pricing or offer more customer incentives, it would attract more users."
"We pay approximately $1,400 USD in total for between five-thousand and ten-thousand ports."
"We purchased from CDW•G. They are great partners on the government side."
"The footprint in the data center is quite large, especially when you scale out. Maybe find some hardware in the future, where if a new blade comes out, then Cisco can say, "Look, we'll buy those blades back off you, and we'll give you this blade for X amount of money." A buyback scheme would be good for hardware, and even NetApp as well. Something like a buyback scheme for blades and stuff moving forward would be good, because I know that they're going to put more power into them. E.g., replacing four blades might equal one blade, which would be awesome, but we are still going to have those four blades around. Maybe having something where it will give you this much money for these blades so we can upgrade. That would be perfect."
"It is cheaper than other products. For example, Dell EMC VxBlock is more expensive."
"The scalability is very expensive."
"It is not going to save you money, but that is not the point. The opportunity to stay competitive in the marketplace is not a cost."
"The FlexPod licensing can adjust to your purse, i.e. there are different levels available for businesses of all sizes."
"It is expensive. My company is small. When you look at the price point, this is a big thing for us to invest in."
