Has enabled uninterrupted access to educational platforms and simplified storage management
Dell EqualLogic PS series is easily scalable, and we can add extra boxes and storage. It was easy to deploy during COVID. Deploying Dell EqualLogic PS series is straightforward, with no complexity involved. Dell EqualLogic PS series is a good product. We did not experience any failures in the last six to seven years, and it is still running as our storage for offline data. There are snapshot capabilities in data protection available, but we did not use that feature because it consumes much space. We have only 150 terabytes of space and simply use it to create volumes without utilizing it for snapshots. We use thin provisioning in Dell EqualLogic PS series, but I did not explore that feature further.

Offers high performance and dependable support for fast storage needs
The most valuable feature of IBM FlashSystem is its robust back code. When integrated properly into the environment and configured according to the guidelines, it provides a very solid infrastructure that does the job on demand. Additionally, IBM FlashSystem offers competitive pricing and reliable performance. The hardware is dependable, ensuring that it functions effectively when the setup is done correctly.

Pros

"Its high availability. It has a lot of redundancy and good management software as well as good alerting."
"Technical support, when we had access to it, was very good."
"I have been using Equallogic arrays for myself and my customers for over seven years now, and they continue to be my gold standard for SMB storage."
"We've dealt with technical support and have found them to be helpful and responsive."
"It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"It has been extremely reliable and very easy to upgrade and expand."
"The solution can scale."
"It is extremely reliable."
"The feature I find most valuable, is the deduplication, because the nature of the data that we are using in our current environment, has a lot of replicated data."
"We've found the solution to be very stable so far."
"IBM FlashSystem provides a very good value."
"The most valuable feature is that is supports a high IOPS rate."
"This is definitely a product I can recommend based on its performance and reliability."
"The solution allows for easy migrations from previous products or vendors via its embedded storage virtualization function."
"It's a really reliable, powerful platform; it's a mature product, like a BMW that evolves consistently, with storage virtualization, easy volume migration, stretch capabilities, Site Recovery Adapter, backup integration using flash copies, and everything you need to build a robust disaster recovery solution around it."
"The installation and service was very good."

Cons

"EqualLogic is really not going to be relevant in the marketplace too much longer."
"There is no option for mixing RAID types in one device."
"I can't buy any more solutions provided by EqualLogic...Since I can't buy it anymore, I don't receive any updates on the solution. Also, this is the last year in which one can buy support for the solution."
"Individual file recovery would be a nice additional feature."
"There is no inline deduplication capability."
"The replication efficiency needs to be improved."
"The only challenging part in the tool was related to some site recovery area. In order to exploit the site recovery area, my company had to purchase additional VMware products."
"The solution does not scale well at all. It's a box, so we only have so much space to work with."
"In IBM FlashSystem, data reduction is an area with shortcomings where improvements can be made in the future."
"It is slightly more expensive, however, it all depends on your supplier."
"This solution needs a management console where we are alerted to issues and can report them, or escalate them through email or another method."
"The customer's expectations are what they get on the cloud, they're expecting even in the on-premises deployments, going forward."
"The solution should improve its pricing and the mechanism in the reduction pool."
"We sometimes had a problem with some bugs in FlashSystems. One time, one FlashSystem was burnt up. There was some smoke and the data was damaged."
"The solution is not easy to use and could improve."
"They can improve its initial configuration. The initial configuration is currently very difficult. There are multiple choices or alternative ways to configure based on the use case and what you are targeting out of the device, that is, more capacity or more performance. These multiple alternatives cause a lot of confusion. They should increase the processing part of the nodes. Currently, you can cluster up to eight nodes. From my experience and the workload that I am facing in my environment currently, I would like to see either a bigger or stronger node or a larger number of nodes that can be clustered together. We formally communicated to them that we need to see either this or that, and they are working on something."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a fair price."
"It seemed expensive at first, but the durability lowered the cost of ownership dramatically over time."
"Licensing is pretty straightforward."
"Price-wise, the solution is cheap. I rate it a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is very cheap, and ten is very expensive."
"I don't think I would say that the product is less expensive...The product's price is not an issue for our company, considering the relationship we have with Dell and the customer support we receive."
"Initial packages include all upgrades and services."
"Dell EqualLogic PS series can improve its scale-out feature. Sometimes the customer has a limited budget for storage expansion. When they want to expand their capacity, they need to buy a complete controller plus storage capacity, which sometimes is out of their budget. If Dell EqualLogic PS series support could scale up the environment in which only hard drive extension controllers should be supported, then customers can expand within a lower budget."
"All features are out of the box. The license will be in the virtual, OS, or application layer."
"My customers got the IBM FlashSystem bundle offer. It was a one-time purchase for three years of service. The price would depend on the storage size and could reach between $25,000 to $55,000."
"The total storage capacity vs price is still quite high for the IBM Flash Array."
"IBM V7000 has a new license and price structure which provides intuitive licensing based on the functions customers wish to enable and use the most."
"Regarding licensing make sure you add at least three years software maintenance from IBM at the beginning, because you will not be able to download firmware updates or any fixes/patches without this."
"The solution has good pricing, but it is not cheaper."
"The price is a little bit high so is rated a six out of ten."
"The price depends of the technology that our customers need. The price can come at a lower cost but this may increase as storage is added."
"This solution is expensive compared to other solutions."
