Boosts student engagement and simplifies course management with creative tools
The best features of CYPHER Learning that I enjoy most include the course management system, gamification, blogging, and debating tools that cater to increasing creative thinking, creative writing, and problem-solving. Gamification and these specific tools make it easy for my students to navigate and manage numerous courses within one class while keeping up with my standards for my curriculum, where my students can see their mastery and performance on assignments. I find it extremely beneficial because our curriculum in schools is data-driven. This allows me to easily obtain data from the content-specific standards assigned to each assignment. I can assess what concepts I need to review and identify what the students have mastered. This transparency also enables the students to see their own progress.

Helps us efficiently gather data and grant access to multiple users
The students lose the software's access after quarterly courses are over. There could be a feature to grant them access to go back and check their progress. Sometimes, we encounter issues while accessing the progress using OneDrive. There could be more seamless integration with some of the features. It would be helpful if it integrates well with Google Drive. It will provide users with more cloud options.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's very easy to monitor and check student progress. I can go in and, with a couple of clicks, see any participant and where they are in the process."
"Thanks to this, our school has exceptionally high results on the Ministry of Education tests."
"The competency-based learning systems that we have created are very important. Before, we were using Talent Elements and the reason we shifted to CYPHER Learning was because of this feature. They are the reason for buying this product."
"CYPHER Learning taught me to get closer to my students and allowed me to do so."
"There has been a clear return on investment for us, and even taking into consideration the additional implementation costs and the costs for building custom courses, we are still seeing that it is cheaper to run CYPHER Learning compared to the paper-based learning that we used to do."
"The most valuable feature is the ability for us to create personalized lessons. This is better suited to our students and learners than offering content or a subject that is already built into the system."
"If you want a space that allows you to work on skills, formative evaluation, the interaction between teachers and students, and that gives you the ability to reinforce learning, CYPHER Learning is a very good tool."
"CYPHER Learning has very much improved our onboarding processes and learning curve."
"We can create groups and resources and share information with them through folders. Thus, it works efficiently to grant access to multiple members."

Cons

"I would like to see an improvement in peer bonding and the possibility for students to share knowledge among themselves regarding the work that they do."
"I think it would be helpful if the resources were more structured in a how-to format."
"We don't receive any notifications about updates to the solution's adaptive learning; we find out when it is already there in the solution."
"We manage a huge number of registered users and also offer a large number of courses on our platform, and our courses are offered via a large number of organizations. It's a very complex setup, but CYPHER Learning did an excellent job of fixing the initial speed issues we had."
"The parents' training was not adequate; parents say that it wasn't user-friendly for them."
"The mobile app has quite a lot of bugs and it has many fewer integration options."
"The gamification option is a section that we have not learned because we have not been able to specify a training space for the use of this gamification tab. However, it would be good to have training and learn about how to use it."
"There needs to be greater granularity of user packages. We don't always have 100 users per month. However, we pay for 100."
"The students lose the software's access after quarterly courses are over."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's a little bit more than I want to pay, but I'm okay with it."
"We are on a plan where we pay for 1,000 users every month. The pricing structure is pretty straightforward. It just depends on what you need. We are currently going with a monthly model because sometimes there are still months during the year where we will have a lot less students on the system, and we took that into consideration."
"Understanding your active users, compared to total users, in terms of the plan you choose, is something to be aware of."
"The main reason we went for it was cost, which was very reasonable."
"The system is not cheap but it's affordable. The pricing is fair... The cherry on top was that we received all the functionality with the simplest plan, the one with the minimal number of users. It couldn't be any better."
"It's affordable, but they have doubled the pricing at random times. That's a problem. They have to change that for forecasting purposes."
"If you go for an open source solution, you're going to find out that the costs in the long run end up being a lot more, and the process is frustrating."
"It has helped us save from 90% to 100% of our costs. The most valuable thing that we have earned in the last three years is time, e.g., my personal time versus my work time. There is more harmony."
