It's easy to set up because you point the DNS to it, and it's working in under 15 minutes
Cloudflare is highly scalable. Cloudflare is a system with a web portal that the end users like me see. It's a console where we can adjust the DNS, caching, and security features all in that console. Cloudflare owns thousands of servers across the world that cache the data. It's a powerful solution. When clients sign up for Cloudflare, they're getting this monster content delivery network, security, and a web application firewall in one. It's all rolled into one, and it's massive. Unless you have your website hosted on a massive hosting provider, there's no way that you can deliver the amount of data that Cloudflare can provide to the end users. If you have static content, there's no way that you can ever match what Cloudflare can do. Obviously, there are competitors to Cloudflare that do the same, but I'm saying other types of solutions. Let's say you go with F5. Great, that's on-prem. That's in your colo. You can't deliver as much data to the internet as you can with a CDN. You don't have to spend $20,000 on a net scaler, F5, or whatever Cisco's selling now. You don't have to buy that. You pay them $50 a month or $150 a month. It's totally worth it because even in five years, you'll never get the performance value, not just the actual ROI. You have to consider how much throughput you can get with Cloudflare.

Versatile with good patching and a straightforward setup
There is some fine-tuning needed, even once you define something. We need to do a lot of configuration. It would be easier if they made the configuration simpler, especially in the beginning. They need to give the user more choices and provide more guidance to help avoid problems later on. We'd like some more built-in predictive analytics so we can be prepared for what might happen in the future. We did have some bandwidth issues during setup. If your update fails, you may have stability issues. We find it difficult to reach higher levels of support when we face larger issues.

Block USBs and manage ports effectively across multiple OS platforms
There is an important feature that needs to be added. In Linux, it is difficult to control uninstallation. Users can uninstall it at any time, and we can only monitor that it is uninstalled. If there is a feature that can notify in the master dashboard that an agent has been uninstalled, it would be very beneficial.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is easier to configure and develop documentation to see how we have configured firewalls."
"It is a stable solution. I rate the stability a ten out of ten...I rate the scalability a ten out of ten."
"The solution automatically detects and responds to certain types of traffic based on geolocation."
"The technical support is good."
"New and innovative way to protect the client's data."
"The most valuable features of the solution are performance and security."
"The attacker won't have details since my public IP is anonymous. It offers us good privacy."
"It is a fast and secure DNS."
"The ability to block all USBs from the McAfee portal has been great."
"Everything in this DLP is great. It"
"I am impressed with the tool's firewalls and web protection."
"The overall features of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention are very good."
"The stability of the solution can be good. However, the configuration takes a long time for it to be done properly."
"It can scale."
"The whitelisting works well."
"Offers some good protection features."
"We like that content-aware and device controls can easily be managed. They're not complicated. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand them."
"The most valuable features are Device Control, Content-Aware Protection, Enforced Encryption, and eDiscovery."
"The product's most valuable feature is its ability to support Linux operating systems."
"The device control is a big deal for us because we can actually lock out removable drives and different types of hardware. It allows us to have better control over what end-users plug into their computers, and we can have deny lists and tighten our security posture."
"Its robust security audit and compliance functionalities prove especially beneficial for businesses in sectors like BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) and Information Technology."
"There are a lot of features, but the main feature is that I can use a device serial number to unlock any particular machine or for all machines. If I have a phone, like a Samsung phone, I can whitelist that specific phone for full access wherever it is plugged into any of our devices. This is the same with a USB, because most USBs come in bulk and have the same serial number. I can then whitelist that particular USB to be read-write with full access."
"I like the data protection feature. Our users were working on a client's CRM application with a lot of client-related EIA information. We did not want the users to be able to send any of this data outside. I also like its ability to protect against data leaks via emails and social media. I like that you can deploy it quickly, and it requires no training."
"The role-based access features for the teams that administer it is good."

Cons

"There could be more courses with engineers. I like e-learning, however, having a specialist in a classroom is more comfortable for me."
"Cloudflare's free plan is limited to 5,000 records for their free plan. They should increase that. For example, if I create a domain called abc.com and a subdomain called a.abc.com, my record count will be two. I can make a maximum of 5,000 subdomains. However, if we use our own DNS hosted on another provider, there is no limit. Their free plan also lacks name server customization."
"I believe they currently have this feature, but there will most likely be integration with APIs so we can control some features through API."
"One area of improvement is in the Access Rules. Hypothetically, if we wanted to block or challenge traffic outside of the United States, the only way to currently do that (as far as I know) is to enter every single country outside of the United States. That could be a labor intensive job. A solution could be to enable users to create a rule where traffic is only allowed within a certain country."
"An integrated SSO feature would be useful for Cloudflare DNS."
"The solution could use more analytics on the backend to give us more insights into everything. More reports would be helpful."
"DNS Management."
"We have noticed multiple instances where Cloudflare falsely indicates that our servers are down, even when there is no actual load on them. This makes it challenging for us to identify the exact issue."
"The solution needs an easier integration in heterogeneous and dynamic environments."
"The interface can be improved, it's too cluttered."
"The pricing is high for licensing and support and the GUI interface is good but could use updating."
"We faced many issues with the solution's customer support, and it should be made customer-friendly and more responsive."
"We need to do a lot of configuration."
"The user interface is messy and could be simplified."
"Technical support doesn't really offer fast response times."
"Our client is not very happy with the lack of support, the skills, and the effectiveness of the tool."
"It needs to improve in terms of policy customization."
"Endpoint Protector, in particular, had some features to be desired for the Mac operating system."
"CoSoSys Endpoint Protector's network-level DLP and integration with mail servers need improvement."
"It would be helpful to implement filtering mechanisms so that we can sort and view the data based on software and vendor, providing more clarity and ease in analysis."
"It would be helpful if they offered discounted pricing for long-term contracts to serve customers who are interested in committing for periods of three years, five years, or longer."
"Currently, for additional applications that need monitoring by the EPP, a request must be made to their technical support. It would be beneficial to add a feature allowing users to manually add applications for monitoring without depending on the vendor."
"I would rate the role-based access features for administrators a six out of ten. There's work to be done on the granularity of roles that can be assigned to an administrator but there is role-based administrator access present. That's why it's not a zero rating."
"When you want to uninstall and reinstall, there are a lot of issues. You have to do a lot of workarounds to reinstall Endpoint Protector. This is a major issue that we have constantly because we still have old systems with XP. While there are only very few, we need to run them because there are machines attached that only run on XP. When we need to uninstall and reinstall on XP or Windows 10, we have serious issues left in the Registry Editor everywhere. There is a lot of manual interference to get the reinstallation to work. For the uninstallation of Endpoint Protector, they need to work on this so it doesn't leave any leftovers behind."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We don't have any issues with the price."
"It's a premium model. You can start at zero and work your way up to the enterprise model, which has a very high pricing level."
"The price of the solution is expensive."
"The tool is a premium product, so it is very expensive."
"I give the price a five out of ten."
"A free version of the solution is available."
"The solution is expensive when compared to other products but offers unlimited bandwidth."
"The product's pricing is minimal compared to other products."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
"The pricing seems expensive both for the license and the support."
"The price of the solution could improve."
"McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is an expensive solution."
"The price of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is expensive. It is not the most expensive solution but it is typically 15 to 20 percent higher than other solutions. There is no additional cost to using McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention."
"It's not a cheap option."
"I'm paying the license for McAfee Total Protection yearly. It could be cheaper, but it's fine."
"The pricing is very competitive and is cheaper in comparison to that of other solutions. It makes it an easy decision to go with EPP for the data loss prevention infrastructure."
"From what we've seen, their pricing is a lot lower than the other stuff we've looked at. I actually don't have any concerns with their pricing. They were probably the most reasonable company out there for the features that were offered. It was pretty straightforward in terms of licensing, and you just pay for the license."
"When I last renewed the license it was for a two-year term, and they gave me the second year at half price."
"The minimum number of licenses they sell is 50 or 150 users."
"[The pricing] is reasonable compared to what's out there."
"We found the pricing pretty attractive. However, volume-based pricing wasn't available."
"The product has average pricing."
"The software comes with a higher price tag when compared to other DLP solutions."
