Reasonably priced, blocks everything and can expand
This is our data loss prevention tool. We install it in our AWS instances for our data If a user tries to copy from EC2 Instant to any other devices, it'll block the action. Or, if a user tries to upload any file from EC2 Instance to any block-listed URLs, it'll block that as well. It helps keeps…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The search for keywords is very important in our security operations because one of the key use cases we had was for the ability to search keyword-based on an internal database of keywords that have been submitted by other project managers within the company that's around intellectual property. The ability to search on keywords was part of that."
"The most valuable feature is device control."
"Compared to a lot of the USB management systems out there, Endpoint Protector is the only one that comes with true USB management and the DLP side of it. I'm pretty impressed because I've used several solutions with DLP and USB management, and I've never seen granularity like this solution has."
"The most valuable features are the ability to prevent access to external devices, and also site blocking."
"It is fantastic in terms of the granularity of the policies. It has many built-in policies, and we can add or create more policies as well. It is perfect, and it gives us more options. We have some users who go outside and then come inside. With EPP, we can even control those users who are outside. If they need to access the media that we are using right now, we can provide OTP messages so that they can access the media even when they are outside of their organization. With our previous solution, we were facing some issues in doing this."
"We like that content-aware and device controls can easily be managed. They're not complicated. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand them."
"There are effectively two areas of DLP to look at from a technical perspective. One is how it performs the pickup of information traversing the system and the other is how the policy engine, which analyzes the data, works. On the first aspect, CoSoSys is probably best of breed for macOS because they're reasonably well-integrated into the operating system. They're looking at the file system operations level, not at the execution level."
"The product is forward-looking, in my opinion, which is a requirement nowadays."
"The ability to block all USBs from the McAfee portal has been great."
"The administrative capabilities and the interface make this product accessible and easy to use."
"The tool focuses on endpoints rather than networks. Endpoints cover everything. It wouldn't be possible to steal confidential information from endpoints."
"What I like about McAfee Total Protection is that it's working. I also like that it doesn't require any specific knowledge to set up."
"The most valuable feature of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is data loss prevention."
"The interface showcases threat incidents very well."
"The most valuable feature right now is the user control."
"Everything in this DLP is great. It"

Cons

"Sometimes, it should try to focus on one thing rather than multiple things. Endpoint Protector does device control very well, which is why we use that particular function."
"They have many predefined classifiers in terms of data identifiers, and they should improve this."
"It would be helpful if they offered discounted pricing for long-term contracts to serve customers who are interested in committing for periods of three years, five years, or longer."
"I would rate the role-based access features for administrators a six out of ten. There's work to be done on the granularity of roles that can be assigned to an administrator but there is role-based administrator access present. That's why it's not a zero rating."
"It needs to improve in terms of policy customization."
"It would be better if they had an inbound restriction feature. For example, I work out of my home from my personal computer. All my policies can be deployed while working. When I am done, I should be able to use my machine as my personal machine, and all these policies should be waived. In the next release, I want time bound restriction of the policies because most of these users were working out of home and using their personal computers."
"This product provides zero-day protection for macOS, although I'm currently dealing with an issue on the most recent rollout of the Endpoint client that doesn't seem to be fully functioning."
"The reports and analysis could be improved. There could be a little more data, and the logs could be a little more granular, but it's nothing major. It does what it needs to do, and it's fine."
"The licensing cost for McAfee Total Protection could be cheaper, but apart from that, I don't need anything else. The software has what I need."
"The UI needs to be simplified."
"In my experience, it's not really user-friendly for me, in terms of how I navigate with the ePolicy Orchestrator. They need to upgrade their management console."
"Integration with other vendors could be improved. For example, with Chrome or Firefox."
"The support from McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is good. However, if they provided 24 hours a day seven days a week support that would be a helpful addition."
"McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention needs to improve the resources it uses for CPU and RAM."
"McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention could improve by having artificial intelligence."
"The solution needs to be a one-stop protection shop. And yet, the DLP isn't strong. Anyone can break it quite easily."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing is quite reasonable. For smaller organizations, it lets them get into the product domain, whereas a lot of vendors won't even talk to them. CoSoSys is just about at that sweet spot of being serious enough that you have to budget for it, but at the same time, affordable enough that the value is well worth it."
"When I last renewed the license it was for a two-year term, and they gave me the second year at half price."
"We have a limited budget for our media section. When we purchased it last year, we migrated from a different solution to this solution, and at that time, they told us that the cost will remain the same, but this year, they increased the price by 20% or something like that. I am not sure about the exact price, but let's say from 8,000, it increased to 10,000. It was a huge gap, and we couldn't bear this cost because we have a limited budget. When we spoke to them, they understood our problem and reduced it to the same price that we had last year."
"This is a budget-friendly solution that covers all the aspects of host-level DLP."
"The pricing is very competitive and is cheaper in comparison to that of other solutions. It makes it an easy decision to go with EPP for the data loss prevention infrastructure."
"From what we've seen, their pricing is a lot lower than the other stuff we've looked at. I actually don't have any concerns with their pricing. They were probably the most reasonable company out there for the features that were offered. It was pretty straightforward in terms of licensing, and you just pay for the license."
"The pricing is reasonable for this particular market."
"The software comes with a higher price tag when compared to other DLP solutions."
"McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is expensive."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a six out of ten."
"I'm paying the license for McAfee Total Protection yearly. It could be cheaper, but it's fine."
"McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is an expensive solution."
"If the client purchases the entire suite of McAfee Endpoint, the license is included."
"The price of the solution could improve."
"It's not a cheap option."
