Data governance has transformed business glossaries and now drives AI-ready insights
I think it's a great platform. Searching can be made a little better. The data marketplace which it provides is also great, but sometimes when we are searching an element and we know we are not sure if we can find it or if we have missed it. Listing data domains in one place for quick visibility will be an add-on. I am not a hardcore coder. For a coder to create workflows and automate the process, I needed to learn Groovy script and create some workflows. In the automation part, I think it can also introduce a low-code, no-code platform where we can connect different connectors and we can quickly create some automated workflows, if at basic level only, because the next big thing is automation and AI. Low-code, no-code platforms are being used by everyone. I think that will be useful. When I look for a data domain, I'm not able to find it very quickly. For a business owner to know data domains and search data domains, it could be made a little easier. Also, the automation part needs improvement. We are only able to enter the data manually or connect to a data source, but now we want to create some workflows as well. That's why I've chosen a rating of eight. Otherwise, it's really great.

Balancing robust scalability with cloud features enhancements for streamlined operation
We're implementing this solution to assist our customer service in gaining a more comprehensive view of their environment. They currently manage over two hundred applications but lack a clear understanding of which ones are critical, especially concerning compliance in the insurance industry. By implementing it, we aim to alleviate the burden, identify redundant processes, and streamline their operations. It's about addressing these specific needs and optimizing their workflow. We're focusing on aligning the features with their requirements, and they are making significant progress on this journey, helping each of their companies move towards a centralized and efficient approach.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product's most valuable features are cataloging and classification."
"If you try to utilize it, the data lineage is number one, because there's awesome capability in it."
"The workflows allow the creation of custom workflows based on needs."
"It enables a linear view of the data assets across different levels, providing a comprehensive understanding."
"Collibra Governance helps us set the business rules and define critical data elements."
"Except for data quality, everything is perfect."
"We use the solution's Data Stewardship part."
"Collibra Governance is a stable solution."
"It has an intuitive data quality engine that allows you to modify data, and apply rules to standardize it, and it's an excellent initial stage."

Cons

"Collibra Platform can be improved in simpler relationship management because some people feel Collibra Platform is complex for non-business users."
"Certain implementations, including lineage maps, could be user-friendly."
"The technical support is very poor."
"It would be better if features like the privacy module and AI-based Collibra DQ were included in one package instead of being separate and requiring additional costs. Currently, the basic package covers lineage and documentation, but the extra modules come at an extra cost."
"We had issues during setup."
"Many other tools like Collibra Governance give you the option to actually see the data in the tool, which is not an option in Collibra."
"A few areas where I think Collibra Platform can improve include user experience; Collibra Platform is very powerful, but for new or occasional users, it can feel complex."
"When we are doing discovery for unstructured data sources, I would suggest a quality report of the data that would indicate what was unable to process."
"The on-premise features are undeniably robust, but having equally powerful capabilities in the cloud would be a significant enhancement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Generally, it is a rather expensive solution compared to some other tools in the market, but I found it to be fair-priced for its capabilities."
"Collibra Catalog is fairly priced - I would rate their pricing seven out of ten."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"I am not so much aware of price details. Initially, there was an add-on NuSoft license to use the DVC connector that NuSoft gives to create integrations, but Collibra is now phasing out of it slowly. Collibra is cutting ties with them is what we have been led to believe, and we have started developing on Spring Boot, which is open source."
"Collibra Governance is extremely expensive"
"It's expensive, especially for small companies."
"We purchase its annual license. There is an extra cost for additional users."
"Collibra is a bit expensive."
