Code42 Incydr and Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention compete in data security and loss prevention. Code42 Incydr appears stronger in proactive data protection with its insider threat detection capabilities, whereas Microsoft Purview integrates deeply within the Microsoft ecosystem, beneficial for organizations using Microsoft services.
Features: Code42 Incydr offers real-time risk detection, insider threat insights, and customizable risk-scoring. Microsoft Purview provides extensive policy configuration, integration with Microsoft services like Azure and Office 365, and the ability to auto-classify sensitive data.
Room for Improvement: Code42 could enhance integration with non-Microsoft ecosystems, improve automation of compliance processes, and optimize resource usage further. Microsoft Purview might consider expanding functionality beyond Microsoft environments, reducing initial configuration complexities, and enhancing cross-platform data governance capabilities.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Code42 Incydr is known for its straightforward setup and exceptional customer service. Microsoft Purview benefits from integration within Microsoft environments, though deployment may require more configuration efforts for non-Microsoft users. Both have responsive support, but Code42 stands out for its user focus.
Pricing and ROI: Code42 Incydr involves a higher initial cost, justified by its targeted insider threat protection. Microsoft Purview offers a cost-effective solution within the Microsoft suite, maximizing ROI in Microsoft 365 environments. While Code42 is suitable for those needing specialized protection, Microsoft Purview appeals to cost-conscious organizations leveraging the Microsoft ecosystem.
Once we got to the Microsoft engineers, the experience was great.
The policy working and detection technology need enhancements.
Sometimes the solution is not stable when the internal connection is not reliable, so this aspect needs improvement.
Implementing a degree of severity ranking is essential.
Endpoint Data Loss Prevention needs to be improved as it is not up to expectations.
The feature I find most valuable that I'm currently using is the quickness of the emails that the Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention solution sends to us, where we get notifications that say a user has potentially breached our data guideline rules, and we get those alerts continuously, allowing us to enforce them manually.
Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention usually performs well, except for endpoint Data Loss Prevention, which may need improvements.
Detect file exfiltration via web browsers, USB, cloud apps, email, file link sharing, Airdrop, and more. See how files are moved and shared across your entire organization – without the need for policies, proxies or plugins. Incydr automatically identifies when files move outside your trusted environment, allowing you to easily detect when files are sent to personal accounts and unmanaged devices.
Incydr prioritizes file activity based on 120+ contextual Incydr Risk Indicators (IRIs). This prioritization works on day 1 without any configuration. Incydr’s risk scoring logic is use case-driven and transparent to administrators. Incydr uses Watchlists to programmatically protect data from employees who are most likely to leak or steal files, such as departing employees.
Take action with appropriate responses to contain, resolve and educate on detected risk. Use Incydr Flows or SOAR integrations to initiate response controls that are proportionate to an activity’s risk severity. You’ll stop data leaks without getting in the way of employee collaboration and sanctioned file activity.
Improving your Insider Risk posture requires a change in employee behavior. Code42 Instructor provides bite-sized training to employees, delivered when they need it. Use Instructor in tandem with Incydr to send responsive video lessons when employees put data at risk. You’ll ensure appropriate data governance and compliance with security standards and corporate policies as well as report on the positive impact of your Insider Risk Management program.
