Automated hardening has standardized our servers and reduces effort for secure Windows workloads
The first-boot time is longer than a stock Windows AMI. Sysprep and the initial hardening pass add a noticeable delay before the instance is reachable, which is something to account for if you autoscale and need nodes ready quickly. The hardened defaults also occasionally trip up common installers and agents. A few of our deployment and monitoring tools assumed services or policies that the image had locked down, so we had to add exceptions. A short compatibility checklist of what the hardening changes from a default Windows install would have saved us that debugging. I would also like the option of a CIS Level 2 build for our more sensitive workloads since the image currently only ships a Level 1 baseline. Thanks.

Secure remote imaging has transformed global workflows and supports high‑performance creative work
HP Anywhere is utilized across public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud, and on-premises environments. AWS is the cloud provider I see HP Anywhere deployed with most often, although I have also seen it a bit with Azure, but not at all with Google Cloud. Regarding improvements, I appreciate that the AI focuses on bandwidth optimization and security anomalies, and it offers valuable information on pixel streaming for smoother remote access. For those considering HP Anywhere, I advise recognizing that the product is at end of life, with no future developments, and if you are looking for VDIs, alternatives such as Citrix or Nvidia may be better. If you already have HP Anywhere, be aware it has been officially discontinued. HP Anywhere is a wonderful remote desktop solution, but HP has chosen not to enhance it further. If you possess it, it remains a good tool, but it is important to acknowledge that it is at end of life with no future development planned, meaning customers will need to eventually transition to other remote desktop environments. I give this product a rating of eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Windows Server 2025 is a strong fit for enterprise environments heavily reliant on Microsoft technologies."
"Because the image arrives CIS Level 1 hardened with the AWS tooling already in place, our servers come up patched, locked down, and ready to join the domain without a separate build out pass."
"HP Anywhere has positively impacted my organization by providing global support and compatibility with any cloud provider, including AWS, Azure, Google, and private clouds, enhancing hybrid workforces and allowing employees to work anywhere."

Cons

"The hardened defaults also occasionally trip up common installers and agents: a few of our deployment and monitoring tools assumed services or policies that the image had locked down, so we had to add exceptions."
"Initial configuration complexity can still be high for teams without prior Windows Server expertise."
"HP Anywhere is at the end of life, with no new features or support being added, and it seems like HP is not prioritizing its development anymore in the growing remote work market."
