Automation and integration capabilities streamline IT infrastructure management
The most valuable feature of Cisco UCS E-Series Servers is the Cisco interface. The server management and automation capabilities have been outstanding in automation, greatly benefiting our IT team. Pricing is acceptable, and these servers have had a significant impact on cost savings and operational efficiency. The integration with Cisco routers simplifies the IT infrastructure.

Policy-driven infrastructure has simplified management and improved end-to-end troubleshooting
Regarding aspects of Cisco UCS X-Series that I would like to see improved, I was an operator and not in research, but everything seems up to the mark. Whenever I faced any type of issue, solutions were nearby, leaving me with few suggestions for enhancements. In terms of features and functionalities for improvement in Cisco UCS X-Series, I can say that if I compare Cisco UCS with other brands, I can proudly note features that must be included in Cisco UCS X. However, my experience is limited, as I primarily worked with Cisco UCS and sometimes Dell physical PowerEdge servers.

Pros

"They are really easy to maintain. I've added RAM to them. I've done a lot of other things with the virtualization."
"Cisco UCS E-Series Servers have been reliable, and it took almost five years for any hardware failure, which was only about a $100 repair, so nothing too major."
"The Cisco chassis is very easy to configure and any network engineer or expert can configure the solution and easily integrate it with the chassis."
"Stability-wise, it is a good product that remains stable."
"The product is overall stable."
"The product's most valuable features are stability, speed, and scalability."
"What I can advise other prospective customers is that they should not worry about Cisco's support, stability, and performance."
"Overall, the Cisco chassis is pretty good, pretty stable and easier to configure as compared to HP and others."
"I find that Cisco UCS X-Series is the best option on the market at the moment."
"Cisco UCS X-Series is a totally policy-defined structure, so you have to define everything in the policy, and it is easy to use and manage."
"Cisco UCS X-Series scales with the growing needs of my organization very well, as much as you need it to with no issues whatsoever, and it scales whenever we need it to."
"I find ease of management to be the most valuable feature, and it was easy to deploy, with the operational efficiency of Cisco in my IT environment being fine and very good."
"The features I appreciate most with Cisco UCS X-Series are profile, profile deployment, and the ability to orchestrate configurations across all of the compute."
"Since I installed Cisco, I have not faced any hardware issues, so we depend on Cisco for hardware for our servers and for other hardware such as switches."

Cons

"The biggest pain point for us is the matrix for the firmware upgrades. It is a pain. You look at that thing, you might as well be reading Greek. It would be a whole lot better if they could clean up their documentation on it."
"The processing capacity could be improved."
"One thing that could be improved is the cost - it is very high for this Blade chassis as compared to other vendors. Especially in Asia. Asian customers mostly prefer a cost effective, cheaper solution."
"I would like to see improvements in VMware integration with Cisco, especially in terms of documentation and integration tools. Support of NVIDIA integration would also make it better."
"I think that's probably one of the biggest failure points with Cisco, from their documentation all the way to their products."
"The product should also be available in a standard edition or a standard license since currently there is a need to pay for an extra license, which is very expensive, especially when considering the budgeting part of our company."
"The tool must be made compatible with multi-vendor ecosystems."
"The platform's pricing needs improvement. There could be more collaborative tools included."
"We are in a life cycle replacement phase, and we face a situation where we have to upgrade the hardware, but to get to the next series, you have to upgrade all of it."
"If we talk about the current market scenario regarding Cisco UCS X-Series, the products of various things such as RAM and hard drives have already increased a lot, which makes it quite a competitive market because you cannot control the prices for those things."
"I find their pricing maybe expensive compared to others, but stable, with no issues and so on."
"On pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Cisco UCS X-Series, I find the pricing to be very high. This is the one painful aspect."
"I have heard that the chassis concept may be discontinued or not reintroduced by Cisco, and I hope that does not happen."
"Cisco UCS X-Series can be improved with a longer lifespan. The products go end-of-support and end-of-life quicker than I would prefer."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive."
"It's expensive, they are quite pricey."
"There is a need to pay towards the licensing costs of the solution. The most expensive server from Cisco is Cisco UCS B-Series."
