Client history has helped resolve past network issues more efficiently
I mostly use the client history feature of Cisco DNA Center. I didn't use the real-time monitoring capability of Cisco DNA Center because I primarily used it for client history regarding issues and problems. I don't use it for real-time monitoring. If there is a problem, I can inspect the situation and see what is happening, which is beneficial.

Experience seamless management for diverse network needs and ensure data sovereignty
The integration of LANCOM Management Cloud with on-prem resources for hybrid environments needs improvement. The LMC has been in development for about five years. Compared to Mist systems, the big vendors are better integrated. For Wi-Fi analysis with Hamina, for instance, it can connect through an API with Ruckus, Cisco, or Aruba, but they don't do that with LANCOM systems yet. The APIs are well-documented, but you have to implement them yourself. For very large venues that need integration with other parties, the integration could be better. It's a matter of resources, as LANCOM systems doesn't have the capacity of Cisco. It's a smaller company, more of a niche player, but they do it really well. Their focus is on quality of devices and digital sovereignty. Every six weeks there is a new version of the LMC with new features added. Since the LMC is cloud-based, updates happen automatically in the background. For large projects, LANCOM is quite cooperative in writing custom APIs. For example, if you have a project with 500 access points, 20 switches, and some firewalls, and you need specific API support, they will develop it if the project is large enough. They are also quick to resolve issues - we once had a bug in a school installation with 150 access points, reported it on Monday, and had a solution by Wednesday.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is simple to manage and it is all done from a single dashboard."
"The product's most valuable feature is the visual representation of the switch's front panel."
"The product gives a consolidated view."
"DNA Center is scalable."
"It is very versatile in terms of analytics."
"What's most valuable in Cisco DNA Center is the ability to manage any Cisco infrastructure and device through it. Setup was straightforward."
"I like the visibility, instant build, network, policies, and the ability to control access. I also like that you can visualize your whole network."
"I think that their LAN automation is a very good feature."
"The products are extremely reliable, with very low breakdown rates."

Cons

"The solution's integration feature can be better."
"The solution’s security side could be improved."
"The tool's deployment is complex. It also needs to improve its GUI."
"The solution's technical support is an area with which my company's clients have a problem. Cisco doesn't provide good technical support unless a user has a big account that Cisco wants to retain."
"In terms of the clustering part, there are some concerns."
"When it comes to deploying wireless fields, integrating defaults into the DNS interface can be challenging."
"As a user, it would be good if I could plug in controllers, suites, and devices from other vendors to Cisco DNA Center."
"Integration with analytic tools and API integrations would be ideal."
"The integration of LANCOM Management Cloud with on-prem resources for hybrid environments needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Affordability is a problem because it's created for large enterprises only. So, some customers, even if their engineers want the solution, might have problems with budget limitations."
"We have a three-year license with them."
"The product is very costly."
"The partnership price is notably high, but it ultimately depends on the chosen business model."
"Cisco DNA Center is a licensed product with multiple levels of licensing available such as basic, advanced, and essential. I don't have the exact figure, but Cisco DNA Center is costly. For example, the box has information about the essential license and costs a considerable amount of money. You need to pay extra to use advanced features in Cisco DNA Center. My company sees Cisco DNA Center as a solution that's worth the money, which is why it invested in the solution. If you want centralized management for your network, especially when upgrading it, Cisco DNA Center is perfect, but it's more suitable for a large-scale rather than a small-scale network."
"Cisco DNA Center is too expensive."
"I would rate the pricing a six out of ten, with ten being expensive."
"The licensing cost for Cisco DNA Center is not more than that of other solutions."
