Advanced threat prevention has protected our perimeter and simplifies daily security operations
Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) can be improved in several areas. First, the interface could be a little more intuitive for new users. The Smart Console is powerful, but it has a steep learning curve when you start using it. Some simple functions for common tasks would help. Second, the initial setup and configuration take quite a bit of time and expertise. It would be helpful if there were more guides, wizards, or templates to speed that up. Third, the price model could be more transparent and flexible. The license cost can add up quickly, specifically when you want to add more advanced features. Finally, I would appreciate seeing better integration with some third-party security tools we use. Right now, we have to do a lot of manual work to make everything talk to each other. Overall, these are minor things. The core product is really solid and does what it is supposed to do very well. The documentation could be more comprehensive in some areas. When we run into issues, the documentation does not have clear answers, so we end up contacting support. Speaking of support, the response time could be faster sometimes. We have had cases where we need help with a certain security issue, and it takes longer than we would prefer to get a response. As for features, it would be nice to have more general reporting options so we can customize reports for different teams and stakeholders without having to do manual work afterward. One more thing, better mobile access to the dashboard would be helpful. Sometimes we need to check on security alerts when we are away from the office, and the mobile experience is not as smooth as it could be. Again, these are improvements that would make it even better, not issues with the core product itself.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Check Point NGFW provides a bunch of different products or Blades, as they call it in Check Point, and while the firewall engine is what we use the most, we also use the IPS IDS and Anti-Bot features, so the solution provides many features."
"If there is a critical issue observed, the Check Point support team can create a custom package that we can deploy on the gateway to mitigate critical issues/bug fixes."
"We have surely seen ROI compared to the other vendors I mentioned, in terms of costs, and we tested all the firewall features to see if it is doing what it says it can do, and so far so good, it's excellent."
"Check Point NGFW has positively impacted my organization as the incidents have reduced, resulting in no disruptions in the network."
"The most valuable features are application control, regulation, and threat prevention."
"Check Point Next Generation Firewalls are key components in protecting our assets and information."
"I think that the most valuable feature is the prevention of known and zero-day threats because they are constantly trying to access your company and compromise its data."
"I haven't had any data leaks or vulnerability situations."
"I would recommend this product to any business that wants to protect its cloud environment, cloud server, or on-premises virtual servers."
"I'd rate the solution nine out of ten."
"Hillstone CloudEdge is compatible with all the mainstream public cloud providers, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud."
"The solution is very easy to download and configure. The initial setup was very easy. The technical support is very good."

Cons

"The tool’s architecture could be improved a bit."
"Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) needs to improve on VPN configuration with IPSec and failover, particularly around VPN failover with third-party vendors."
"It could greatly improve our customer experience by centralizing management."
"The perimeter antivirus can be improved. It's not as good as other leaders."
"Tech support should be improved. There are times when the technical team fails to understand things at the ground-level."
"Reporting has to be improved."
"Debugging is very complex when compared to Fortinet, for example."
"The pricing could always be more competitive."
"There is room for improvement in AI features, particularly for zero-day attacks and providing maintenance guidance."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing fees are paid on a monthly basis and I am happy with the pricing."
"The product provides value for pricing in terms of performance and technical features compared to other firewalls."
"Comparatively, Check Point pricing is a little high. However, if you have that budget, I would recommend anybody to go with Check Point."
"We pay the licensing fees on a yearly basis."
"The pricing is good. It is less than Palo Alto's firewalls. Check Point has the same features as Palo Alto, but the licensing and cost of these firewalls are not too expensive. It is one of the best firewalls in the market in this range."
"If you use the features then it's cost-effective. Otherwise, it's expensive."
"The technology itself is impressive, but I find the pricing a bit on the higher side."
"The price may be perceived as relatively high when compared to the features and capabilities they provide."
