Good intrusion prevention, firewall, and VPN capabilities
Check Point Power-1 (EOL) has reached the end of its useful life, yet at the time, they could to make some changes such as: * Integration in the cloud. It is the new trend, however, Check Point has already contemplated this and already has its own cloud device. * Automation. As the automatic creation and application of policies, this would have been very beneficial. * Multi-factor authentication would have been a plus in security at the time. They must also make some improvements in their support departments since they do not comply with the SLAs that they provide.

Secure branch connectivity and automation have improved, but clustering and support still need work
I think Juniper SRX Series Firewall could be improved or enhanced because maybe a year or two ago, Juniper began producing new boxes such as SRX 1600, SRX 2300, and SRX 4300 and 4700, which are excellent products. They are only one unit high but have very good performance and a lot of different ports, supporting from 1 gig to 100 gig ports. Juniper also has series SRX 300, but it is an old firewall and not very powerful. I believe that maybe in a year, they will transition to another series, such as SRX 400. However, the functionality of Juniper SRX Series Firewall remains the same. The differences involve performance, quality, number of ports, and types of ports in different models of Juniper SRX Series Firewall.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The VPN allows users to connect remotely and securely."
"In my opinion it is right product at enterprise level network to protect the user and server from external and internal threats and attacks"
"The GUI is simple to use."
"When compared to Palo Alto, Juniper is a better choice when it comes to the enterprise network and connectivity."
"It protects from distributed denial-of-service attacks with Screen Options."
"The solution has been good for fulfilling our basic needs."
"We have found the solution to be very stable, with literally little to no hardware or device failures in the field and no customer complaints."
"It uses many applications, like antivirus blocking and web filtering."
"The most valuable features are routing and policy security, and the EEE security controls allow us to make policy restrictions, so I can customize port numbers to allow or limit control."
"It is a complete security bundle. The cloud-based Sky Advanced Threat Prevention feature is very valuable. I am 100% satisfied with the performance of the Juniper firewall. It has a very good throughput. It works very fine. We use our firewall as a site-to-site VPN or Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN). In both cases, it has a very good and optimum performance. Their service support is very good in India. I get really good support from the Juniper team."

Cons

"Multi-factor authentication would have been a plus in security at the time."
"I have to pay Check Point for every new service I integrate in the firewall and it also has license related issue which needs to renew every years."
"There is room for improvement in customer service and support."
"We are leaving Juniper now as their focus on security seems to have dropped."
"In terms of improvement, it could use more on the security side. It's a good stable firewall, but it's nowhere near what it needs to be for a next-generation type firewall."
"The workplace management console needs improvement. It should be a little bit more developed. Also, the interface needs a bit more improvement."
"While the GUI is pretty good on the Juniper side, there can still be tweaks made to it that will make it even better."
"The main challenge I see as a distributor is Juniper's rating in the Gartner report, where Juniper is not a leader in enterprise security, which often influences customer conversations."
"The weakest point of Juniper is the graphical user interface. With a better user interface and graphical interface, the Juniper SRX Series Firewall could be a superior solution compared to what it is now."
"The GUI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Compared to other vendors, the pricing of this solution is good."
"In my opinion, the Juniper SRX Series Firewall is cheaper than other products."
"Pricing is good. Most of the costs are in the UTM (IDS/IPS, virus scanning, etc) subscription."
"For a medium-sized organization, the cost for the licensing and implementation of Juniper SRX for 10 users would be about $300-400."
"While the price of support is expensive, the price of the solution, itself, is not."
"The direct support with Juniper is expensive. When you stop using the solution and miss one year of payments, if you want the support back on a specific node, they ask you to pay for the year that you haven't used the node."
"I rate the solution's pricing as a four."
"The price is reasonable."
