Can be used for the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance
We use it for the virtualization of third-party APIs for performance testing. Our second use case is related to the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, which is used for insurance clients In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party…

Virtual services have accelerated parallel API testing and have improved complex integration coverage
ReadyAPI Virtualization is especially useful in CI/CD and parallel development workflows because teams can test independently without blocking each other. It also helps simulate edge cases and failure scenarios more safely, improving overall test coverage and system availability before production release. The best features of ReadyAPI Virtualization include services mocking and simulations of complex API behaviors along with integrations with automated testing workflows. I especially value the ability to simulate unavailable or third-party services and create realistic response scenarios and test failure conditions, such as delays or errors, which is very helpful as virtualization integrates well with API functional testing, helping improve development speeds and test coverage. I find the environment flexibility and reusable virtual services very valuable in ReadyAPI Virtualization, as they make it easier for multiple teams to test in parallel and reduce dependency on shared staging systems, improving overall development efficiency. ReadyAPI Virtualization positively impacts my organization by reducing development and testing delays through the removal of dependencies on unavailable or incomplete services, improving parallel development, increasing test coverage, and allowing teams to identify integration issues earlier, which speeds up delivery cycles and enhances overall system reliability before production release. As a result of using ReadyAPI Virtualization, I see faster integration testing and reduced waiting time for dependent services, which significantly improves delivery speed. It also reduces environment-related blockers and catches integration issues earlier, leading to fewer bugs reaching later testing stages or production. Additionally, automated and parallel testing workflows reduce manual effort for QA and development teams.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ability to create virtual services and deploy them as Docker containers, and include them in our Jenkins build pipelines, is a valuable feature."
"The features are really good in the middleware testing world; it supports lots of technologies and I would strongly recommend this tool for automation and virtualization."
"Helps us to remove barriers that we have with dependencies on services that we don't own, or services that don't even exist yet."
"The most valuable features include the capability to use other program languages such as PLSQR, JAVA, .NET."
"In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, there was a device terminal, which was interacting with the application via the TCP/IP protocol. Most of the tools don't support that, but we were able to achieve it using Broadcom Service Virtualization."
"The web services protocol for SOAP requests and responses is the most valuable feature."
"We have been using it extensively for the shift left process and testing, and it helps us to accelerate and virtualize services and assets that we don't have, enabling us to test faster."
"It is definitely scalable."
"Very good for the price point and compared to more expensive or custom development solutions."
"The technical support is good."
"It only takes a few minutes to get up and running with virtual services and RESTful calls."
"ServiceV Pro functionality helps in achieving better results in terms of performance and execution of APIs, which definitely results in reaching high-level standards, therefore, getting appreciation from the stakeholders as well."
"ReadyAPI Virtualization positively impacts my organization by reducing development and testing delays through the removal of dependencies on unavailable or incomplete services, improving parallel development, increasing test coverage, and allowing teams to identify integration issues earlier, which speeds up delivery cycles and enhances overall system reliability before production release."
"Ties-in with the rest of the SoapUI platform and its ability to record traffic and create a virtual endpoint."
"So far expected result has been beneficial to the our environment and system."
"In times of DevOps, where continuous delivery and deployment is progressing at such a fast pace, ServiceV Pro has emerged as an add-on for enhancing our API product finish."

Cons

"Their knowledge management system is not up to the mark. The search functionality really needs to be improved."
"More examples of portal-based virtualization."
"It's not really meant for Services Testing and reporting functionality from the CA SV console - it's a very basic one."
"I think the size of DevTest is pretty massive. It's hard to tell what different parts of it can be used to do different things."
"Sometimes we need to develop in web services custom behaviors that simulate technically and functionally the real service."
"The GUI can be hard to navigate."
"There is need to improve the DevTest Workstation with UI-based testing features."
"We need to get more and more types of services because this is a multidisciplinary platform."
"ReadyAPI Virtualization could enhance usability and performance for large-scale enterprise environments."
"ServiceV still has some bug in the tools, such as structure of the project, integration, and combination with different tools present in the same tools, like SoapUI NG and LoadUI."
"The solution does not allow you to export APIs to the cURL command like Postman."
"Greater capacity to create Virtual APIs based on HAR files or wireshark recordings."
"The effort required to utilize the capabilities/usage of ServiceV Pro looks like the one area where we could have some further improvements"
"Requires more documentation or videos with examples, which is easily understood by the new users."
"The effort required to utilize the capabilities/usage of ServiceV Pro looks like the one area where we could have some further improvements made just to minimize the time required by a developer to use all the products collaboratively (SoapUI Pro, LoadUI Pro, and ServiceV Pro)."
"Greater capacity to create Virtual APIs based on HAR files or wireshark recordings."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"Pricing is alright, however more options would be desirable for a fairly new product like ServiceV."
"Ability to have general IT staff enable developers using this software as opposed to more expensive vendors or developers building their own solution."
"This product is worth the cost."
"Be updated with the latest offerings that the tool provides so as to avoid any clashes with issues, like licensing."
