Good RESTful API support and performs well, but customization is difficult and time-consuming
Pros and Cons
  • "The technical support is good."
  • "It needs support for a wider set of protocols."

What is our primary use case?

We use this tool to test out different features in the software landscape.

How has it helped my organization?

It only takes a few minutes to get up and running with virtual services and RESTful calls. It can quickly create multiple layers for the systems that you have.

What is most valuable?

It is very easy to virtualize, directly.

What needs improvement?

This solution has few features for customization. Also, if you want to customize something then there are a lot of steps. As it is now, you have to do a lot of scripting and it would be easier if the user had more options in the GUI.

It needs support for a wider set of protocols.

In general, it is somewhat lacking in features.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This product is scalable, although if the load is very high then it will slow down. It is not designed for use with very high loads.

We have approximately 50 users.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used similar solutions from Broadcom and HPE. I have the most experience with Broadcom Delta.

We switched to SmartBear because it's a lightweight tool. Broadcom supports a wider range of protocols but we don't need all of them. It is a good tool but it's heavy.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy. It takes a few hours to complete.

What about the implementation team?

We were able to deploy this product on our own, very easily.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This product is worth the cost.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for anyone who is considering this product is that it is mainly for RESTful calls. If somebody is using Swagger APIs or some RESTful calls as part of the specification that they want to virtualize, then this tool can be a good choice. Also, if they want to virtualize a GUI tool, then it is good.

In general, this is a good product but I think that the user experience has to be improved. There's just a lot of manual work that has to be done with scripting. This should be reduced to make it a more seamless experience for the user.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud
