Can be used for the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance
We use it for the virtualization of third-party APIs for performance testing. Our second use case is related to the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, which is used for insurance clients In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party…

Provides real-time application monitoring, but the technical support services need improvement
They could improve the platform's customer support services. Many users, including myself, have experienced significant delays in response times and unsatisfactory resolutions when reaching out for assistance. The support team often provides generic recommendations that do not address the specific issues raised, leading to prolonged downtime. Additionally, there needs to be more proactive communication and follow-up on reported problems. Another area for improvement is keeping pace with updates to the latest libraries and technologies. For example, Sauce Labs' proprietary driver and Saucectl need to be updated more frequently to support the latest versions of popular testing frameworks like Playwright. This lag in compatibility means that users may miss out on critical features and improvements available in newer versions, necessitating workarounds or compromises in their testing workflows.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"CA Service Virtualization is a very robust product and is highly configurable."
"There are several areas that are easily configurable."
"The CAI aka Pathfinder is a great capability and will help the organization to achieve SV goals and expand the SV to different systems without many firewall changes or changes in the existing environment setup."
"It is easy to use, has a faster time to market, and provides flexibility."
"The benefits are cost savings on hardware and earlier defect identification."
"The features that I find most useful would be how easy it is to quickly get something up and running as a small test sample."
"In short, we are able to save a lot of valuable time."
"We used a lot of other solutions, but switched to CA Service Virtualization because this one tool can cover all of our requirements."
"Customer Service: Very positive. From the sales reps to the customer success reps, Sauce Labs is truly dedicated to ensuring an outstanding experience."
"Typically, testing would take six days, and we got it down to one day."
"Without Sauce Labs, it would be really hard to achieve the software quality standards or the automation coverage that our clients need."
"The most valuable feature is the cross-browser feature, it has many android and iOS devices both simulators and real devices. It's easy to integrate. I also like video recording too."
"I find that the multitude of browser and OS versions are very helpful for broadening testing scope."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to easily test multiple browsers and versions, as well as off-loading our local environments using the SauceCloud."
"No longer have to manage VMs for testing."
"Our machines are mostly Windows. Being able to test with Safari, on a Mac, and other types of browser pieces without having to manage all the infrastructure is the biggest feature that our team enjoys."

Cons

"The initial installation and coming in and bringing it into your organization, it can be a little disruptive, but once you create some real strategies around how to deploy the solution in your platform, the gains far out weight what the delays would have been or the challenges would have been in getting it up and going."
"We had to implement an external service catalog. We put it in ServiceNow. I would like to see an integrated service catalog."
"They can always work on usability and making simple things simple to do. This is true of every product that deals with complexity."
"The product is yet to become stable. Thus, people prefer using more stable solutions like JMeter and SoapUI."
"The concept of agent installation is a tedious process and should have been much simpler."
"The cost is an area that needs improvement. There are a couple of other tools which provide support for performance testing with the base version itself, but Broadcom needs a separate component to support virtualization for performance testing."
"Right now, we can do service virtualization but there is no mainframe testing feature in this tool such as batch processing; it is the feature that I need."
"On the testing side of the functionality, there are a few things that are missing."
"As far as what could be improved, I would say the overall test execution time."
"Latency, due to Sauce Labs being a cloud-based solution, has been a concern. We work in different continents and countries, but last time I checked, Sauce Labs was only offering two data centers, one in the EU and another in the US."
"For mobile testing, Sauce Labs platform is great for functional tests, but the option to run tests on real physical devices is missing right now, so it’s impossible to run performance stress tests which is also very important to test mobile apps."
"We need more physical devices."
"I only tried the free trial so far, so not a lot to say about the cons."
"Getting accurate pass/fail results when running TestNG scripts in parallel by class is a challenge but after some work we figured out a solution."
"The one issue I have is the 14-day trial that a new user gets for free."
"I think their logging could be improved a bit, possibly to include the output that I see on my command line (print statements, etc.) which help pin-point the error (if one happens) more easily."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"Cost-wise, it's decent. If you have to get the base version out of it, it's the best solution to go with. As compared to other cloud service providers, the pricing of Sauce Labs is decent."
"With respect to pricing, they did a bundled discount because we went with Sauce Labs for both mobile and browser. They were very competitive on pricing and provided a bundle discount for us as a larger customer."
"They could improve on the pricing because it seems pretty expensive. I'm sure it's justified, but it's expensive."
"We pay for a specific number of VMs."
"We did initially go with Sauce Labs because of the pricing and integration."
"It could be less like pay-per-use with a lower rate."
"Trial the product and see if it suits your needs."
"The pricing is definitely on the higher end, and there are other options that are more cost-effective."
