Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

I have not come across any difficulties. I integrated it with ILMT (IBM License Metric Tool). It lets us identify all software being used in my organization with BigFix. It provides input of all types of software being used, including details and information about hardware specifications. I am more involved in software licensing and procurement, so I utilize this tool for procuring more licenses if needed for our company. After integration, we get different dashboards showcasing our IBM infrastructure, highlighting various issues in our environment that we can mitigate. I recommend BigFix to others. I rate BigFix a seven out of ten.

Centralized device control has reduced data costs and protects lost mobiles and tablets
Synchronization is a problem sometimes, and I suggest that IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson should improve by making the user interface more user-friendly. It feels pretty average, which gives a hard time for new users. It should be more user-friendly and intuitive. IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson should reduce the cost of the per-device subscription, because when you have a lot of devices like our organization has, it becomes pretty expensive to manage all the devices. It should also allow simplified device management. The cost reduction of 30 to 40% is primarily from reduced device losses, less manual work for admins, and other factors. The more devices you have to manage, the more the cost, especially because they bill per device. In our case, IBM Security MaaS360 can be a bit expensive. It could be less expensive for a small organization dealing with a few devices. The setting is slightly complicated because of the unintuitive interface.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Microsoft Intune helps us avoid issuing everyone company-owned devices. We provide a stipend, allowing users to bring their own devices. This approach gives us leverage against other MSPs. It also enhances collaboration because clients already covered by specific licensing can optimize their usage of Microsoft Intune."
"Intune is effective because of the configuration management and endpoint security it provides. The graphical interface makes it easier to configure and deploy devices."
"I like the tool's integration with Apple. Anyone who creates an ID in Intune will get an Apple ID."
"It is very stable and scalable because this is a cloud-only solution."
"We like Intune's Autopilot functionality, which enables one-touch deployment. Dynamic grouping is another feature we find valuable working in academia. We have people in buckets based on their roles in the university, such as faculty, staff, alum, or grad. Sometimes, they will fit into multiple places, and dynamic grouping helps with that."
"I find Microsoft Intune valuable primarily for its Windows management capabilities, along with its Android Enterprise and Apple device management for mobile devices."
"The ability to block and erase remote devices is valuable to us, especially when those devices are lost."
"The user experience of Microsoft Intune is quite good because there's not much disturbance in the background; it's just running in the background."
"Scalability is also really great."
"Servers are patched more consistently than they have been previously."
"It has one central location to manage all the different platforms that we have such as desktop, Windows Servers, Linux Server, Solaris, AIX and zLinux, and it's great to be able to manage them all from one central location."
"We are able to go from patching thousands of machines by twenty to thirty people to one person."
"Being able to intelligently create reports, gather data, export CSVs and give that to the leadership of some of the client groups that my team supports has helped my organization."
"BigFix is value for money - You get a simple, robust, dynamic and very powerful solution for a very reasonable price."
"It has improved reliability upon delivery of software and has also helped reduce software expenses."
"Some of my clients have gone from it taking months to be able to get through a patch cycle or to discover what's out there, down to days."
"IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has positively impacted my organization by enabling us to manage all our devices in one place, settle all the issues remotely through troubleshooting, and it allows the AI feature for reporting."
"IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has positively impacted our organization by improving our security posture through effectively managing and securing mobile devices, apps, and content."
"Everything since we started using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has been phenomenal, especially security, which has improved overall on our devices and our data."

Cons

"Sometimes, updating a client policy is very difficult. This needs to be improved."
"While no specific feature requires immediate improvement, the ongoing expansion of reporting and inventory capabilities promises to enhance its utility."
"Microsoft's technical support isn't very good. They're very slow in responding."
"The time we have to wait to deploy policies has room for improvement."
"Onboarding of endpoint devices is not straightforward. The onboarding process was a little heavier than I thought it would be. That's the key improvement area. Obviously, the more control you have over the devices, the better it is."
"Enrollment into the Microsoft Intune service can still get easier, especially for legacy-managed systems, such as how we get it from a GPO or an SCCM configuration into Intune."
"There is improvement needed in integrating with the installed Office solutions versions, such as Office 2019."
"Customer service is not really good. I would give it a six out of ten. The main issue is the time it takes to get someone involved who truly understands what the product does."
"I would like to see more emphasis on using the web console, to have the same power as the full fat client console that they do they now. It's a lighter way to log in and it would be faster for our operators to do their work. The console tends to take a long time for a large number of clients."
"I self-taught for this online, so the initial setup was a little difficult to pick up at first. I had to create a couple of testing environments and destroy them in order to learn how to use it. There was a lot of trial and error, a lot of reading of the manuals."
"I'm looking for them to make big web UI improvements."
"We need a much better multi-tenant option."
"The self-service application seems to need some work to replace the client UI. There are a lot of pop-ups if you use a baseline as the object that you're setting to a workstation. Unless you're using web UI, the message is not customizable in the user notification."
"Improvements can be made when it comes to in-place and OS upgrades."
"I would like to see a web UI SDK so we could take what is provided currently and be able to build our own customized web UI for particular customers that want to sell service."
"The new EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) feature, Detect, is new and still needs a few updates."
"Synchronization is a problem sometimes, and I suggest that IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson should improve by making the user interface more user-friendly."
"One area IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson can be improved is that once a device is lost, I have to continue to pay for the license, which should be looked upon and configured otherwise."
"Cost can also be a challenge, as this tool may come with a significant cost, particularly for organizations managing a large number of devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of Intune is often included as part of a bundle with other Microsoft licenses, which makes it somewhat cheaper."
"It is reasonable. When you have Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 license, it is already licensed in that license. So, you could say it is free."
"We work in the charity sector, so a lot of our clients get Microsoft Premium licenses or Business Premium for free. They get ten licenses free, and a lot of our clients do not have more than ten staff members. They are getting the tool for free, so its cost is not an issue."
"We spend a lot of money on Intune licensing, and some of our users have to be double licensed just because of how our dev and corporate environments are segmented."
"I rate Intune five out of 10 for pricing. It's expensive."
"It is cheap, but as compared to Google, it is costly. Google is cheaper, but quality-wise, Microsoft Intune is better."
"It's affordable. It's cheaper if you have an Office 365, E5, or E3 subscription because everything is there."
"There is a license required to use the solution. If you're core users in Office 365, for example, you have Outlook email and E3 license, this is only email. You have to buy an EMS license to have Microsoft Intune. It is expensive."
"Its price is very reasonable."
"The price is reasonable, but our customers find it expensive."
"You are charged per server and per workstation when using BigFix. ManageEngine is a lot cheaper than BigFix. There are some additional costs, such as support."
"When purchasing, buying with other IBM tools provided us with a very good discount in pricing."
"I would stay with the Managed Virtual Server license model, which is a 1-to-1 license per OS whether it is virtual or physical."
"It is too costly. It is one of the best tools, but because of pricing, not all clients support it. Its licensing is on a yearly basis."
"I can estimate the reduced cost of servers maintenance to approximatively $500,000."
"The price of BigFix is better than the solutions. You are able to pay monthly or annually. There are not any hidden costs with BigFix. There is an additional cost for the SQL database."
