Pros
"Fortinet offers the latest versions to cater to the needs of enterprises.""The most valuable features are the possibility of having one fabric for switching on security.""Whenever we raise a complaint with FortiGate, their response and resolution times are minimal.""The most valuable feature is the FortiManager for centralized management.""Secure, user-friendly, stable, and scalable network security solution. Installation is straightforward.""The solution is very, very easy to use.""The VPN is the most valuable feature.""We are using the FortiGate 100D series. VPN, firewall, anti-malware, OTM, and intrusion prevention are useful features."

"The features I find most valuable is the VPN and the fact that we can apply our policies to the program.""Inbound and outbound traffic analysis, rule creation wizard, and the GUI portal are among the key features.""The solution is stable.""The most valuable feature for us is the ability to offer firewall support to our clients.""Enables us to define user application-level access, so our customers can work anytime from anywhere.""Their GPS possibilities and the security that it has, especially the SD-WAN functionality, is very good.""What I like best about this product are the support and the features.""If you have multiple offices, all inter-connected via the internet, you want a single management console through which you can manage all you firewalls. In that case Barracuda could be a good option."

"The initial setup is very easy.""I don't have anything bad to say about the product. I absolutely love it.""The most valuable feature is the console management.""Next Generation Firewall's best feature is that it can be managed on one platform.""The simplicity of the solution is its most valuable asset. It's very user-friendly.""I have two offices, and I can route the internet of both offices using the same product. Cons
"They should make the rule sets more understandable for the end user. When you're trying to explain to somebody how a computer network is secured, sometimes it's difficult for an end user or customer to understand. If there was a way to make the terminology more accessible to the end user, the set up could be easier. They should translate the technical jargon to an easily relatable and understandable conversation for the end user, the customer, that would be brilliant. Particularly in an environment where the IT structure is audited regularly, there's always pressure from the auditor to up the standards and up the security and you get your USCERT's that come out and there's a warning about this and the customer will want to lock out so much and when you apply it they run into issue where they can't search the internet or print to their remote office. Of course they can't print to your remote office, they just locked it up. They should make the language more understandable for the customer. If there's a product out there that made the jargon understandable to John Q. Public, I would buy that.""This product needs to have an analysis feature, rather than having the analysis done through the integration of a different product.""It would be nice if FortiGate incorporated some built-in endpoint protection features. I would also like a built-in SOC dashboard for managing multiple Fortinet firewalls.""The user interface could be improved to make it less confusing and easier to set up.""The solution needs to improve its integration with cybersecurity.""Fortinet doesn't provide multiple virtual firewalls which would facilitate end users and customers.""Fortinet FortiGate should improve the VPN tokens.""Bandwidth usage in reporting could be improved for Fortinet FortiGate."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"The usability for the administrator's experience needs improvement. My system administrator has some questions about its overall connectivity and flexibility.""The initial setup is a bit complex.""While using Barracuda CloudGen Firewall, we encounter issues with VPN profiles for Windows.""The administration UI could be better. It should also have better application detection policies.""It would be better if they had a trace and trap feature. It's hard for me to say anything bad about Barracuda. This is because we had a firewall go down in the town of Kirkland Lake, and it was a blown-out port, and they had an instant replacement.""Its interface could be better.""The price could be better.""The biggest issue that I have with this solution is that it is not super intuitive. Once you know what to do, things make sense, but you can't just open the program and start doing things. It would be great if there was a little bit more guided usage inside the program."

More Barracuda CloudGen Firewall Cons →

"They need to increase the local support here. There are also some bugs or fixes on which they need to work. They very well know about these bugs. In terms of licensing, I would like them to either increase the number of features in a single license or make licensing more flexible.""They should have a GUI on the product itself, not a separate management tool to be used on the management server or on a server to be used to manage the file. It should be all in one device. The device should be controlled through its own GUI. They also have to improve the learning center and the documents as the documents don't really help.""The interface is complicated. It's difficult to locate all the necessary menus and functions.""Making this solution easier to use would be an improvement.""Next Generation Firewall's configuration could be improved.""This solution would be improved with the inclusion of custom reporting.""Forcepoint is a little difficult to configure compared to its competitors.""The network interface could be better, and it could be cheaper."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Fortinet has one or two license types, and the VPN numbers are only limited by the hardware chassis make."
  • "These boxes are not that expensive compared to what they can do, their functionality, and the reporting you receive. Fortinet licensing is straightforward and less confusing compared to Cisco."
  • "Go for long term pricing negotiated at the time of purchase."
  • "Work through partners for the best pricing."
  • "The value is the capability of having multiple services with one unique license, not having the limitation per user licensing schema, like other vendors."
  • "Easy to understand licensing requirements."
  • "We saved a bundle by not needing all the past appliances from an NGFW."
  • "The cost is too high... They have to focus on more features with less cost for the customer. If you see the market, where it's going, there are a lot of players offering more features for less cost."
  • More Fortinet FortiGate Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is a product with a very transparent model of licensing. In the sense of hidden expenses, they do not exist with this model. "
  • "We evaluated a lot of different options. We concluded that Barracuda NG Firewall provided the most features for an exemplary price. "
  • "My advice is to try and evaluate it (Barracuda offers a trial period of one month)."
  • "Pricing is good. Licensing is pretty much automatic if using Control Center."
  • "Pricing and licensing are fine. It's worth the value because every four years, if I buy any other product, I have to replace my hardware. But with Barracuda I get a free hardware upgrade. Today I'm using Xbox. After four years I can take another Xbox or a Ybox."
  • "It would be nice if the pricing and licensing offered for less."
  • "Purchasing through AWS Marketplace was good. We did it because it was easy."
  • "In general, it tends to be cheaper than most solutions."

  • "The big advantage of this solution is that we can select the right model for our requirements, which is not too expensive."
  • "I believe the licensing fee is for one year, three years, and five years, or something like that. If you wants to increase the support level from a simpler level to platinum, I think that there's a cost. There are differences between every kind of support, but I don't know the numbers."
  • "We would love to take other solution from Forcepoint, but unfortunately the price is too high. That's why we are not considering using Forcepoing for our proxy and DLB. They have a very good DLB, but the matter in the end is the cost."
  • "Forcepoint is very expensive but it's really secure."
  • "It is expensive."
  • "The training that they offer to their end-customers. It's quite expensive, I believe it costs roughly $11,000"
  • "Everything in Forcepoint comes with an individual license, which is kind of a problem. In our last meeting, they said that it may change at the beginning of 2021, and they will try to merge some licenses together. Customers will get more features than what they got previously. We will wait and see."
  • "We have found the price could be reduced. It is a little expensive."
