Integrated cloud platform has streamlined app delivery and supported certified marketplace products
A potential area for improvement for Azure Red Hat OpenShift is to see managed identity support and ensure that some of the security features are not conflicting with Azure or Azure product features. I am sure in the future it will be more templatized so that we need not depend on Azure security features. Azure Red Hat OpenShift should be independent of Azure security features with respect to container scan and all that. Why would it use an Azure security feature? That is what I find. It is still yet to be GA and commonly available, but that is a strong reason for improvement.

Consistently beneficial with excellent accessibility although support's response time needs improvement
The features and functions of the SAP Cloud Platform are very good; the performance is improved when compared with the older versions. Earlier, we were using Oracle DB, and after HANA DB migration, it is fine. We are getting the reports, and processing time is also reduced. Almost all the features of the SAP Cloud Platform are fine and good. SAP Fiori has also entered into the picture, and we are developing the Fiori apps. We have started with the BTP for the new innovations as per the SAP roadmap. The main benefits of the SAP Cloud Platform for us are that earlier we had the primary data center at our place, but now we have shifted to the cloud. The maintenance is free for us; the maintenance is completely done by this SAP partnership with Cloud4C. We have started using the SAP Analytics Cloud, and we have developed many applications for SAP SAC. We are going to give the presentation to our chairman most probably next week. The analytics features positively influence decision-making for us. The SAP Cloud Platform has been effective for us because the processing time is reduced, and we can access it easily.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Technical support from Red Hat is very good."
"The solution's support and its automation tool that ensures we are secure and appropriately configured are the most valuable features of Azure Red Hat OpenShift."
"The most valuable features of the solution are accessibility and scalability."
"The functions and features in Azure Red Hat OpenShift that I have found most valuable are that it is a platform that is baked into Azure, and since it is baked into Azure, it is managed operation by Azure, which takes out the complexity of the infrastructure management and day two operations when compared with on-premise OpenShift."
"As a consulting company, we implement Azure Red Hat OpenShift for our clients, who appreciate its integration capabilities for enhancing cloud operations. While we handle implementation, build processes, and automation, the operational responsibility lies with the customer. The service provides basic processes and support from Red Hat and Microsoft, which benefits clients by allowing them to focus on their business rather than regular operations like cluster upgrades."
"Flexibility, a very well-developed interface, and ease of learning are the most valuable features of Azure Red Hat OpenShift."
"I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten."
"In Kubernetes, when traffic goes out of a pod, it has to have its own IP address. Every service that's going out requires another IP. But with OpenShift, you don't have to deal with any of those IPs because they use NAT."
"SAP is an excellent company with an excellent reputation, excellent products, and dedicated customer support."
"Its integration with SAP solutions is impressive, so if you have applications that utilize SAP data, the SAP Cloud Platform is pretty good."
"The SAP Cloud Platform has been effective for us because the processing time is reduced, and we can access it easily."
"At the moment the most valuable aspects of the solution are the project management and finance features."
"The most valuable feature is integration."
"The most valuable features of SAP Cloud Platform are security integration and scalability."
"One of the best features of this solution is that it is web-based and you can log in and work on it from anywhere."
"It's suitable for various sizes of companies. I have used it with big companies and with small ones as well."

Cons

"I would rate the technical support from Microsoft as six."
"Regarding room for improvement, there's always room, but it's mainly about Azure itself rather than Azure Red Hat OpenShift. Azure is not as advanced as AWS in terms of supported services. AWS is the leader in this area. However, there's no need for service improvement in Azure Red Hat OpenShift as the service is excellent. I don't need additional features because I can customize it according to the customer's needs."
"Technically, Azure Red Hat OpenShift is fine. However, its marketing could be improved, especially when compared to the robust marketing efforts of Azure, HPE, and Nutanix."
"There is room for improvement in terms of orchestration. While Azure orchestration offers valuable features, it's worth noting that it may not match the level of orchestration provided by Kubernetes itself."
"Automation could be improved."
"They need to improve the core licensing model."
"The product is expensive."
"I would like Azure Red Hat OpenShift to be more open to new frameworks and languages. Currently, if I create a pod with Rust, it doesn't work in OpenShift, and I must create a layer of interpretation."
"For some of our customers, the product is too costly to purchase all the components or services."
"For our organization, the price is the main downside."
"I can’t speak to features that may be missing."
"In person, when the development happens, we were told that it's flexible and customizable. However, sometimes, it's challenging to customize."
"The product could be improved for consistent user interfaces."
"The cost when it comes to monitoring can be difficult. We have to be very, very careful and aware of any changes so the price won't go up too much."
"I would like to see more and better support for data transformations."
"The product could be improved for consistent user interfaces. Although it is one platform, the user interface logic (e.g., where buttons are defined on the screen) differs from service to service."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to other cloud environments like Amazon or Google, Azure Red Hat OpenShift is an expensive solution."
"Azure Red Hat OpenShift is not a low-price solution; it's expensive. Pricing depends on the strategy and whether you buy it directly from Red Hat or the Azure portal. Additionally, some customers may need a complete disaster recovery solution, which requires additional licensing and software products for implementation, such as backups."
"I rate the product's price an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"It is expensive compared to a similar product."
"SAP Cloud Platform costs $2 to $5 per hour, while I found other platforms way more affordable. You have to pay per use, though that's fine because that means the cost is flexible."
"SAP Cloud Platform is expensive. It can be quite costly."
"SAP Cloud Platform Integration is an expensive product. I rate its pricing an eight out of ten."
"Licensing costs for this solution are based on the number of users and the bandwidth."
"The pricing can be negotiated."
"Cost-wise, I'm unsure of how expensive the SAP Cloud Platform is."
"The product's pricing varies and depends on the customers' needs."
"SAP Cloud Platform is generally more expensive than the other options."
